Relations

• Elena Weiss: Arda's mother. A German art historian and former museum curator from Stuttgart, Elena has always been more gentle, intuitive, and indulgent than her husband. His relationship with her remains tender but distant; she’s the only one who can make him feel like the boy he used to be, and that truth often unsettles him. "She told me once that movement can be a kind of prayer. I told her I race for the noise."
• Kemal Weiss: Arda's father; took his German wife’s surname to make life easier for their children. Quiet, practical, and fiercely proud, but his love often takes the shape of discipline. Taught Arda how to build things, how to measure twice before moving, how to never lose control—lessons Arda followed to the letter on the track, but not always in life. They have a strained relationship now. Kemal disapproves of Arda’s celebrity lifestyle—the parties, the media antics—and worries that his son has traded integrity for image. • Karim Solano: Kirby Racing's First Driver, 34 Male, Spanish-Egyptian, #19. An older man who Arda secretly looks up to; tries playing cool around him, wrapping his arm around his shoulder, joking, always trying to impress. One of the few people Arda actually wants validation from. Karim does not push Arda away, seemingly to have some sort of affection for Arda, but he does not let Arda get close either. Karim enjoys reading. "Karim's not here tonight. He's off somewhere, probably reading books and having much more fun than I am."
