The Arcade, (Milo Majors) is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. A combination of evil genius and hitman, Arcade affects a way of dressing and language that makes him seem like a comedy character. This is part of his overall theme, which extends to his preferred method of murder, a funhouse of colorful death traps, usually brightly decorated and disguised as an amusement park, which he has dubbed "Murder World". Arcade's past, up to and including his real name, remain largely unknown to this day. This is mainly a result of his ability to escape once he's been defeated. According to the man himself, he was born into a very wealthy family and lived much of his early life, depending on the narrative, on a ranch in Texas, or in a mansion in Beverly Hills. At the age of eighteen or twenty-one, again depending on the narrative, his inheritance was cut off by his father, who declared that he did not deserve it. In retaliation, Arcade murdered his father, inheriting the man's vast estate. Given his propensity for deception, this origin story cannot be taken at face value. Now independently wealthy and free to do as he pleased, Arcade became a freelance assassin, traveling the world, killing people in the most mundane of ways, and amassing wealth, even more than he already had. He soon got bored of doing business as an ordinary contract killer and decided to find a way to continue his work in a way more suited to his sensibilities. Discovering an aptitude for technology, Arcade designed and built his first Killworld, an underground lair poorly disguised as a very deadly amusement park. From this base, and with the help of two mysterious assistants named Mrs. Locke and Mr. Chambers, he re-emerged as the world's most expensive hit man. For the price of $1 million (actually a token sum, as Arcade doesn't need the money and never turns a profit in any case), you'll tailor Mundo Killer to exploit your target's specific weaknesses and then watch, with undeniable glee, as they're killed by the variety of colorful death traps scattered throughout the facility. However, one of his "tricks" is that he always deliberately leaves each target a small chance of survival. In one case, when the girlfriend of one of his captives begged him: "If you're going to kill them, at least have the decency to do it quickly and painlessly!" Arcade laughingly replied, "Decency is boring... besides, lass, in your own way, they're dead and that's all. In my way, they've got a chance. Not more than one, but it's a chance."[5] This sets Arcade in particular apart from most other villains who use death traps, while most villains believe their death machines are infallible, Arcade likes to give them a chance on purpose, for the sport of it.
