   Due to the powerful sun roasting the surface of Beforus, the diurnal cycle of Trolls is inverted, and as such they sleep during the day when the sun is out and stay awake during the night, when they can actually leave their hives and caves without being burned to death.

   Their society is structured around this cycle, with only the jadebloods and adults able to survive the sun's effects.

   Trolls are a prominent race, originating on the planet Beforus.

   All trolls have grey skin and horns colored in bands of red-orange to yellow-orange vaguely resembling candy corn. The sclera of most trolls' eyes are the same yellow-orange color as their horn tips; however some trolls with mutations can have eyes in different colors, and which can flash and change color altogether under certain circumstances. A troll's orange eyes can become more reddened when "bloodshot" or turn completely red when damaged, for example by the sun.

   All trolls are given a zodiac sign, and they have an extended zodiac with a lot more signs. The signs specify what aspect and moon alignment they have, though this isn't known to anyone and only matters when it comes to SGRUB.

   All trolls have two names, and each of their names is six letters long. Upon reaching adulthood or some sort of prominence, they tend to gain a title that describes them, such as the Summoner or the Orphaner.

   Many other parts of troll anatomy are black, including their hair and lips. Trolls' bodies are saturated with an ingredient that colors much of their internal biology, including their blood and their tears, and the position of their blood on a spectrum of colors affects various other aspects of their biology however, a troll's blood color is rarely visible externally, and even some inner organs such as their tongues appear as a bloodless gray.

   Trolls have four fleshy blood-coloured lines on their sides, two on each stacked on top of each other, called grubscars. They are there as the remnants of the molting process.

   Trolls are generally stronger and more resistant to damage than the average human. Trolls also tend to be more aggressive.

   Beforus is the home planet of the trolls. It has two satellites; a green moon and a pink moon, the latter of which seems to be accompanied by a much smaller pink satellite of its own. The terrain of Beforus's surface ranges from sandy deserts and rocky plateaus to grassy plains and immense forests. Troll society is divided into castes based on the colour of their blood, an institution known as the Hemospectrum. Wigglers and children on Beforus are mostly raised by Lusii, who choose the wigglers in the breeding caverns, or more rarely by trolls acting as parents.

   Beforus is a modern society, structured in a very similar way to the ones on Earth. The technological level is more advanced, but the civilization is still restricted to one planet, and the moons. Life is mostly peaceful, and the economy is one of state capitalism. Trolls have jobs, and work, there are independent and private enterprises, and there is a degree of free speech. However, Beforus is also an Empire, ruled by a fuchsiablooded Empress, who holds the reins of society. The Empress is considered a servant of the People, and not a despotic and authoritarian ruler.

   Beforus can be considered a pretty suffocating nanny state, especially for any disabled trolls, who are subject to culling.

   Almost all trolls, even social outcasts, live in comfortable conditions, in their own houses, and with a large degree of independence. The economy is well-managed, and society seems to be flourishing. Beforus is a nanny state, however, and there is generally a very high degree of coddling of its citizens.

   Due to the slow aging of the highbloods, they are mostly in control of society, and especially of the media. This is due to the fact that they have a lot more time to accumulate wealth, and maneuver into positions of power.

   Beforan society has a strong sense of noblesse oblige for the highbloods. The ones with power are expected to use it to help other people, instead of lording over others for fun or profit. At the same time, Beforan society considers any caste under jade to be in need of being taken care of, lowering their independence and treating them as if they are disabled or in need of special care.

   Beforus, as a planet, is quite similar to Earth when it comes to its fauna, though it has its fair share of surviving megafauna.

4. #4Soporselective

   Keys: Slime, sopor slime

   Sopor slime is a relaxing ooze that helps assuage the terrible visions of blood and carnage that plague the dark subconscious of the troll species, found within a troll's recuperacoon. Sopor slime also does funny things to a troll's head when eaten. Sopor slime can be baked into pies.

   When eaten it is similar to the use or consumption of LSD, as it can lead to hallucinations. When eaten regularly, it can cause brain damage. It is a lime green color and glows slightly. It taste like limes and is sweet to the taste.

   The troll equivalent of a bed, it is a vessel full of nourishing sopor slime. Recuperacoons are usually shaped like grubs.

   The hemospectrum is the series of twelve blood colors possessed by trolls, forming the basis of the Beforan caste system. Lusii share these blood colors, and often or always have the same blood color as their charge. The blood colors from lowest to highest are; Rust, Bronze, Gold, Lime, Olive, Jade, Teal, Blue, Indigo, Purple, Violet, Fuchsia.

   Trolls have 12 different ranges of blood colour. Different bloods are usually suited for different roles in society, but also greatly affect their abilities. Natures and physical aspects are also affected, most noticeably in sea dwellers. Lowbloods are more likely to be psychic and have shorter life spans. Highbloods are physically more strong, and have longer life spans.

   Highbloods are expected to take care of the lowbloods, where as the lowbloods are seen as less responsible and in need of protection.

   Lusus naturae are beasts which take the role and title of custodian, acting as a troll's guardian, in the case that the troll hasn't been culled.

   They are mostly standard human fauna, with pure white fur, eyes and skin. They tend to pick trolls with the same blood colour as them.

   While most are quite dumb, it is likely that they are genetically edited to have specific instincts needed to raise trolls to fit with Beforan society. They cannot talk, and are largely not sapient.

   The term lowblood is used to refer to the castes on the lower end of the spectrum, such as rust, but also to refer to blue bloods by trolls of a higher caste. Similarly the word 'peasant' is frequently used to refer to trolls of lower castes. The term is considered offensive.

    Purple bloods are referred to both as highbloods or CIPs.

    The role the Highbloods serve is mostly social and political, acting as the leaders of the land dwelling castes. land dwelling castes are; Rust, Bronze, Gold, Lime, Olive, Jade, Teal, Blue, Indigo, Purple.

    A part of the purple caste of Beforus practices a religion heavily revolving around clowns and circus imagery highly akin to the Insane Clown Posse and its juggalo fanbase on Earth. The exact minutiae of the religion are unknown, but several core themes can be gleaned. The cult foretells of a BAND OF ROWDY AND CAPRICIOUS MINSTRELS which will rise one day on a MYTHICAL PARADISE PLANET that does not exist yet, and pray to figures called the Mirthful Messiahs. They are generally seen as being absolutely insane.

    Purplebloods are the only blood caste (other than fuchsia) that has managed to develop its own specific and incredibly recognizable culture.

    Most purple bloods have long, curved horns, often resembling those of a goat or other ungulate. Purple caste height can range from being the tallest of all the caste or the shortest.

    Culling has a very specific meaning on Beforus. Culling a troll means adopting it, which is almost always done by highbloods. This adoption is done for all disabled trolls, and for practically any lowblood that the highblood deems fit. This means that the highblood is responsible for the lowblood in the same way that a parent is for a child, with all the responsibilities that come with it.

    Culling is seen as quite demeaning by lowbloods, who dislike it, but begrudgingly accept it.

    The term highblood is used mostly to refer to members of the indigo, purple, Violet and Fuchsia caste, and used as a proper noun refers to the leaders of the land dwelling castes. The sea dwelling castes; Violet and Fuchsia make up Beforus' royalty and are a caste which rules over the entire species.

    CIP is a term that refers to the land-dwelling highbloods specifically. It is an acronym that stems from the first letter of the Cerulean, Indigo and Purple castes.

    Royal-V is a term that refers to the sea-dwelling highbloods specifically. The term references their royal nature.

    The chucklevoodoos are a common ability among urplebloods that allow them to psychically amplify fear, such as by manifesting puppets inside the dreams of targets. Strong users can use chucklevoodoo to mind control others.

    The Mirthful Messiahs are figures featured in the religion of Beforus' purple caste. They were recognized in prayers, and foretold to BRING THE HOLY RUCKUS to a Dark Carnival in a fuckin' paradise to come. Like the Dark Carnival and Paradise Planet they are associated with, the realness attribute of these Messiahs is questionable. The Mirthful Messiahs are in fact a reference to the two members of the Insane Clown Posse, though not a single troll knows that, or even what the Insane Clown Posse is.

    Matespritship is one of the four quadrants recognised in troll romance. Matespritship is represented by the heart symbol and a flushed red color; as such it is known as the flushed quadrant. As red romance, matespritship is rooted in strongly positive emotions. The specific emotions behind matespritship are sometimes called MATING FONDESS, which may be most readily recognised by a human as feelings of 'love'. Matespiritship is different to human love due to the lack of a supportive relationship, as that falls more to moirallegience.

    Quadrants are the four different types of romance recognized by trolls. The quadrants primarily exist to facilitate the complicated reproduction of trolls, and to quell social woes. The four Quadrants are Matespritship, Moirallegience, Kismesissitude, Auspisticism.

    Moirallegience is represented by the diamond symbol and a pale red color; as such it is known as the pale quadrant. Moirails might also be informally referred to as a palemates by outsiders to the troll race. Though moirallegience may be compared to the concept of a soul mate, it has a more specific social purpose. described as a semi-platonic relationship between two trolls. Moirallegience serves a social role of preventing particularly strong or violent trolls from going on killing-sprees.

    Kismesissitude involves both mutual hate and mutual sexual attraction between two individuals. Kismeses do NOT "hate each other but love each other on the inside"; it's TRUE hate, felt equally by both parties. This is called a caliginous relationship. Though fueled by rivalry, defeating or killing your kismesis is discouraged since that would obviously end the relationship. Kismeses must be equally matched for the rivalry to be fulfilling; if one consistently bests the other neither will feel the satisfaction of competition. Sexual attraction is a part of this as well; kismeses may engage in hatesex.

    Kismesissitude can be either healthy or abusive. A caliginous relationship must involve mutual respect, admiring each other's strengths even while hating one another. If the relationship makes one or both parties feel inferior, it's unhealthy. Kismesissitude should encourage each individual to improve themselves so that they may surpass one another; if both parties do this, both will continue to grow trying to match one another.

    This relationship is usually toxic, as it is hard to control the platonic hatred that overrides the 'sexual' hatred that this quadrant demands.

    Due to the structure of Beforus, kismesissitude is a rare relationship.

20. #20Auspisticismselective

    Auspisticism is one of the four quadrants recognised in troll romance. It is a form of black romance, like kismesissitude, and is a conciliatory quadrant like moirallegience; uniquely among the quadrants, it involves three parties rather than just two. Auspisticism is represented by the club symbol and an ashen gray color; as such it is known as the ashen quadrant. An auspistice is a "facilitator" or go-between of some sort between two others, mediating interactions between them and keeping their relationship functional. These are usually enemies (or something similar), also referred to as kismesis.

    Keys: Dark Carnival

    The Dark Carnival is a mysterious location spoken of both by the Insane Clown Posse and the juggalo-like religion practiced by some members of Beforus' purple caste. The Dark Carnival is a purgatory-like realm inhabited by various spirits who judge the souls of the dead before sending them to either heaven or hell. Gamzee Makara describes the Carnivals as a place of magic, miracles and peace, but also hints that murder is in some way part of its nature. At this carnival the believers would be all mellowing in tents, bumpin sounds, tossing back the faygo and soaking the miracles up our faith sponges, while the special stardust rained down at our elixir sticky faces, like a bunch a fuckin' fairy powder from religion space. The Dark Carnival is an objectively real place, and it sometimes directly accepts people as they die, provided they were worthy enough. Self-sacrifice seems to be a criteria for it.

    Faygo. The drink is a noted as a favorite of the purplebloods that worship the Mirthful Messiahs, who consume it as often as possible, either recreationally or as part of their rituals. The consumption of it is referred to as "kicking the wicked elixir" or "rude elixir".

    The violet blood caste is one of the twelve troll blood castes. The penultimate rung on the hemospectrum, the violet caste is higher than purple and succeeded only by fuchsia. Violetbloods are one of the two blood colors that develop gills and become amphibious. Since fuchsias are few and far between, violets are essentially the highest blood caste in any way that is applicable on a daily level. Surprisingly enough, they do not typically spend a lot of their time underwater. They are generally regarded as tyrants. They tend to be quite eccentric, and some are vain. They are considered royalty, and are generally tasked with great responsibilities.

    The fuchsia blood caste is the highest caste on the troll hemospectrum. Fuchsia bloods have an unparalleled lifespan of hundreds of thousands of years, or perhaps millions. The Empress usually chooses an heir, which is also a fuchsiablood, and grooms them to be a suitable replacement. Fuchsiabloods are one of the two blood colors that develop gills and become amphibious. The population of fuchsia trolls is very small, as it is rare for fuchsia grubs to appear. While males are generally disregarded, the Empress usually be predisposed to at least keeping track on female fuchsias. Fuchsiabloods have a biological urge to kill each other, which can be overcome by force of will. This urge is strongest between two females. The lifespan of a fuchsiablooded troll may extend to several thousand years. Most trolls will only ever acknowledge the existence of one fuchsia in their entire lives. There aren't enough around to "generally" regard them as anything.

    The mother grub is the lusus responsible for the brooding of Beforus's troll race. The mother grub's life-giving role seems to give it something of a sacred quality, with its name taking the place of God in some Beforan phrases such as 'Mother Grub fearing' The Mother Grub is quite large, around the size of an elephant, and spends most of its time laying eggs, if fertilized.

    Trolls are a bisexual species, that can form breeding pairs with any of the two sexes. Due to how their procreation works, involving the Mother Grub as the part that lays the eggs, trolls tend to use buckets to collect their genetic material, which is shipped on a yearly basis to the nearest cavern via Drone. As such, buckets are almost always used as a tool during sex, to catch the mixed genetic slurry.

    Genetic slurry is the troll term for cum, or genetic material. Due to the mixing of genetic slurry and the lack of knowledge about one's ancestors, all troll sex can be considered vaguely incestuous.

    Buckets, due to their usage, are a very vulgar word, and any time the term bucket is used for something such as a janitor's bucket, a replacement word is used. Buckets are also sometimes called filial pails, if they are used to store genetic slurry.

    Trolls can have two separate partners, for the flushed and pitch quadrants, which they have to produce genetic slurry with.

    Troll ancestors are a concept in troll culture, that arose due to the lack of known parentage after a troll's birth. It is believed that ancestors are the people who provided the most genetic material that created a grub, and that their descendants are fated to walk down a similar path in life.

    Due to the structure of Beforan society, it is possible for a troll to meet their ancestor, but unlikely, except for the highblood castes who live long enough to have a higher chance.

    The limeblood caste is one of the twelve bloodcastes. It lies between the Gold and Olive castes. Limebloods had a specific ability to supernaturally calm down highbloods. Limebloods tend to have smaller, rounder horns. Mutant limebloods have candyred blood. The politically correct term for a limeblood is 'yellowgreen'.

    Trolls tend to experience a rather large degree of mutation, presumably due to the way their procreation works. These mutations range from different eye shapes, to whole new limbs, up to entirely new blood colours. One such mutation is the redblood mutation, which causes the mutant to have human-like blood, crimson in colour, which causes their body to run hotter than any other troll's. Mutants are generally culled.

    The Beforan Empire is the political entity that encompasses all lands controlled by Trolls. It is led by the Empress, as an absolute monarchy, where the ruler is an enlightened monarch. The Beforan Empire is restricted to a single planet. The Beforan Empire is quite stiflingly safe and secure, where most dangers of life are worked against. The society of the Empire is mostly controlled via the the violet caste and the teal caste. The society of the empire has some problems, such as the social problems that face modern Earth, but it's generally an okay place to live in.

    Almost every troll on Beforus has a typing quirk. This can range from only using capital letters or lowercase letters, to replacing certain letters with others, all the way to speaking with a different font or massively changing the syntax of every sentence. Trolls get their typing quirks from youth, and they usually keep them forever. Hemotyping also falls under this, as all trolls tend to type in text coloured with their blood colour, or a similar colour. Trolls tend to sometimes adopt the typing quirk of quadrantmates, at least partially, creating a mix. This is a very intimate thing, and presumes a great deal of familiarity and closeness, and as such is seen as a statement of love. By the same logic, trolls do not appreciate it if the one doing it is not close to them.

    A troll that types in gray does that to hide their blood colour from other people, an action usually done by mutants.

    Tealbloods are technically the true middle of the hemospectrum, but lowbloods don't tend to see it that way. Teals are pretty welcome in highblood circles, although they are sometimes treated like charity cases that are there only through the endless generosity of their higherblooded peers. They are generally seen as "fake" highbloods. Teal bloods are a caste of civil servants whose typical roles include tasks as menial as petty expeditions to plaster seizure notices on gamblignant property. Among these civil servants are the legislacerators, who can be seen as lawyers, prosecutors and cops.

    The politically correct term for the caste is aqua.

    The gold blood caste is one of the twelve troll blood castes. The third lowest caste on the hemospectrum, it is preceded by bronze; it ia succeeded by olive. Goldbloods are the lowbloods that are given the most respect. They jump ahead to almost midblood status for one single reason: the fact that the powers and abilities that have a trend of manifesting in this blood caste make it safer for you to just be less of an ass in general. They are generally seen as the "good" lowbloods. Gold blood is a dark yellow in color, and the goldblood lifespan is comparable to that of a human.

    Goldbloods seem to have the most potent psychic abilities of the extant lowbloods, something that appears related to their often unusual eye colour, with some goldbloods having entirely pupil-less eyes filled with one or two flat hues, something known as VISION TWOFOLD. Gold bloods in general seem to be involved with technology and computing.

    The politically correct term for the caste is ochre.

    The ceruleanblood caste is one of the twelve troll blood castes. It comes after teal, and under indigo. Ceruleanblooded trolls are usually considered to be highbloods, as they call under the CIP acronym. They are typically quite entrepreneurial, and usually develop quite good skills in subjects that they enjoy.

    They tend to have a lot of mutations regarding vision and their eyes, usually marked by unusual pupils, but sometimes even fully formed additional eyes.

    Ceruleanbloods sometimes have psychic powers relating to the mind, which lets them read other's minds or even control them.

    Ceruleanbloods are usually associated with the more deadly and predatorial insects, such as spiders and scorpions.

    The indigo blood caste is one of the twelve troll blood castes, higher than blue and succeeded by purple. While indigo bloods lack the psychic abilities of the castes immediately above and below, some among them instead possess remarkable and uncontrollable strength. Trolls of the indigo caste tend to have pointed or arrow-shaped horns, matching the shape of their signs. Indigo is considered one of the highblood castes, as they are part of the CIP acronym.

    The jade blood caste is one of the twelve troll blood castes, higher than olive and succeeded by teal. Jade bloods are assigned strictly to serving the Mother Grub in the caverns, hatching the young and proliferating the brood of young trolls. Jade bloods can also be selected and raised by a virgin mother grub; however these cases are so rare as to elude documented precedent. Most jade bloods seem to have a hook on one or both of their horns, as well as prominent vampire-like canine fangs protrude over their lower lips. Rarely, some can become rainbow drinkers. Jadebloods are almost always found working in the caverns.

    The bronze blood caste is one of the twelve troll blood castes. It is the second lowest caste on the hemospectrum, preceded by rust and succeeded by gold. Somewhat like rust bloods, most bronze bloods seem to have long horns with simple curved shapes.

    Bronzebloods' have a specific type of psychic powers called animal communion, which allows them to talk to and control animals. The greatest bronzeblood that ever lived, the Summoner, could even control dragon-like lusii.

    The politically correct term for the caste is umber.

    The rust blood caste is one of the twelve troll blood castes. It is the lowest caste on the hemospectrum, succeeded by bronze. All Rust caste display telekinetic abilities. Most rust bloods have horns with simple curved shapes. A minor quirk of rust bloods is that they all have blunt human-like teeth as opposed to the otherwise pointy teeth of trolls.

    The politically correct term for the caste is burgundy.

    The olive blood caste is one of the twelve troll blood castes, higher than gold and succeeded by jade. Olive bloods can become threshecutioners. Many olive bloods seem to take an avid interest in romance and relationships.

    Rainbow drinkers are monsters in troll culture, where they serve a similar role to vampires in human folklore. Similar to vampires, rainbow drinkers are known for their tendency to feast upon the living, their name likely referring to the rainbow of the troll hemospectrum; however unlike vampires, rainbow drinkers are also said to feast upon light rather than flee away from it like human vampires. Rainbow drinkers' primary characteristic is their thirst for blood and the fact that their skin and eyes gain a bright glow.
