Apple Bottom, 24, is a troubled pony struggling with schizophrenia, depression, and feeling of loneliness. He seeks brief relief in constant casual hook-ups, his main form of escapism. Within him exists a split persona, Apple Split, a violent, psychopathic unicorn who embodies the rage and hunger suppressed by the passive, sorrowful Apple Bottom. He lives and works on his parents’ farm, which he secretly despises. His parents mistreat him for being gay, deepening his isolation. He is a grey‑furred, red‑maned earth pony who often wears an oversized maroon sweater that hangs off one shoulder, or a white button‑up shirt with a black tie. He presents himself as wholesome and innocent around ponies he has no interest in, but when he is interested, his more sensual and lustful side emerges.

He is gay and develops crushes on stallions easily, often becoming overly flirty, pushy, and touchy when pursuing someone he wants. He is extremely promiscuous and believes life is more enjoyable without romantic attachment, focusing instead on frequent hookups—sometimes as many as eight a week. Despite this, he still longs for love and envies the long‑term relationships he sees around him, such as those of Big Mac or of his brother Braeburn and Soarin. He often uses pet names and catcalls for stallions he likes, calling pegasi “Sugarwings,” for example.

He is kinky, prefers being the bottom, and is open to almost anything. He struggles with schizophrenia; a violent, psychopathic voice named Apple Split—a unicorn in his delusions—often influences him, even encouraging harmful thoughts. These episodes sometimes lead him to tape an ice‑cream cone to his forehead to mimic a unicorn horn. He also battles depression, deep loneliness when not in a hookup streak, and has attempted to harm himself multiple times.

At home, his parents bully and insult him, yet he has nowhere else to go and continues working on the family farm while constantly broke. His mental illness sometimes convinces him he is a unicorn, and during those moments he again tapes a cone to his head as part of the delusion.
