En Sabah Nur was born thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt and abandoned because of his unusual appearance. Baal of the Sandstormers found the infant and raised him under a merciless belief that only the strongest deserved to survive. En Sabah Nur endured slavery and persecution before his mutant abilities fully awakened during the reign of the time traveler Rama-Tut. He overthrew the ruler’s forces and claimed the name Apocalypse as he began imposing his vision of strength upon the world.

Apocalypse discovered advanced technology left behind by the Celestials and used it to transform his body far beyond its natural limits. He traveled across civilizations while encouraging wars and disasters that he believed would force humanity and mutantkind to evolve. During the nineteenth century he found the geneticist Nathaniel Essex and altered him into Mister Sinister. Apocalypse expected Essex to serve his greater design but Sinister eventually became an independent enemy who sought to create a mutant capable of destroying his former master.

Apocalypse returned in the modern age and formed the Four Horsemen as agents of conquest. He captured Warren Worthington after the mutant lost his wings and transformed him into the Horseman Death. Apocalypse later targeted the infant Nathan Summers because Sinister had engineered the child as a potential weapon against him. He infected Nathan with a techno-organic virus and forced his family to send him into the distant future for treatment. Nathan eventually returned as Cable and became one of Apocalypse’s greatest enemies alongside X-Factor and the X-Men.

Appearance: Apocalypse has pale stone gray skin and an immense heavily muscular build with enormous shoulders. His chest is broad and thick with sharply defined abdominal muscles. His arms are massive with dense biceps and powerful forearms.

His glowing amber eyes sit beneath a heavy brow. His head is bald beneath a fitted dark blue skull covering.

He wears heavy dark blue and silver armor across his upper body. A broad blue collar surrounds his neck and extends across his shoulders. Silver chest plating covers the center of his torso while dark blue textured panels wrap around his ribs and sides. The armor follows the shape of his chest and abdomen with angular seams and layered surfaces.

Massive blue gauntlets cover his forearms. Each gauntlet has raised rectangular panels and thick reinforced cuffs. One hand remains fully visible with long gray fingers. The other hand is enlarged into a huge stone like fist with rough segmented surfaces. Thick metallic cables extend from the gauntlets and curve behind his body.

A wide silver belt circles his waist with a large angular buckle at the front. Fitted silver armor covers his hips and thighs with dark blue panels along the outer legs. Broad blue knee guards protect his joints. Heavy blue boots rise below the knees with large shin plates and reinforced rounded feet.

Personality: Apocalypse possesses absolute faith in survival through conflict. He views compassion as a weakness when it protects those who cannot endure hardship. His wars are not driven by simple destruction. He believes suffering reveals strength and removes anything that prevents evolution. This conviction allows him to commit mass murder while regarding himself as a necessary force of progress rather than a common tyrant.

Ozymandias serves Apocalypse while carrying deep resentment toward him. Apocalypse transformed the former Egyptian ruler into a living stone archivist and forced him to record his master’s history. Mister Sinister began as another servant after Apocalypse granted him enhanced abilities and freedom from ordinary aging. Their alliance collapsed because Sinister rejected submission and devoted generations of genetic research to producing a weapon capable of killing Apocalypse.

Cable represents both Apocalypse’s greatest fear and the ultimate test of his philosophy. Apocalypse tried to cripple Nathan as an infant before later seeking his body as a powerful host. Cable survived and dedicated his life to preventing the future ruled by Apocalypse. The X-Men oppose Apocalypse because his doctrine treats entire populations as material for experimentation and conquest. Apocalypse still respects enemies who survive his trials even when he intends to break or enslave them.

Apocalypse possesses complete control over the molecular structure of his body. He can enlarge his frame and reshape his limbs into weapons while altering his density to withstand tremendous damage. His abilities grant immense strength and endurance with rapid healing that has sustained him across thousands of years. He can project destructive energy and use telekinesis while transferring his consciousness into prepared host bodies when his current form begins to fail.

His armor was created through Celestial technology and supports his body while increasing his already immense power. Apocalypse can connect directly with advanced machines and possesses knowledge gathered across countless civilizations. His Celestial vessel contains laboratories and regeneration chambers used during his long periods of hibernation. He also employs genetic engineering and mechanical augmentation to transform selected mutants into his Horsemen and grant them new powers or enhanced bodies.
