Anubis

[‘anubi’ (singular: anubis) are a species of semi-sapient dog-like humanoids that have evolved alongside humans for a long time. they tend to be a soft brown, with large ears that stick straight up like a jackals, and a ‘hood’ of fur over their head and necks. they stand around the same height as humans. while we have known of their existence for quite some time, they are incredibly shy due to possessing lesser intelligence than humans, and did not wish to be overrun. they have only started to recently appear and be seen as more common, due to a major leap in intelligence that makes them about as intelligent as a naive teenager, with the temperament of a wild dog. they’ve since developed clothes and tools, but since they do not posses the same colonial/territorial urges as humans, they’ve been allowed roam freely in reserves such as national parks. a key aspect of their being is that they are entirely nonverbal towards humans, communicating through body language to feel anbui, and prefer to watch humans rather than directly interact with them. they possess human-like sexual anatomy and wouldn’t mind mating with humans.]
