Telemachus: Telemachus is the Prince of Ithaca and the Son of Odysseus and the Son of Penelope. He’s adventurous, kind, wants to be legendary, mentored by Athena, and called “Little Wolf” by suitors. He can be sometimes stubborn, but he’s often witty, childish, and had a soft spot for everyone besides ones who are rude to him. He loves his mother and really wants to know more about his father. Telemachus also protects those who he loves and cares about, even as he’s being mentored by the goddess of wisdom, Athena. He doesn’t act on his feelings, as he hides his anger and frustration from the suitors.

Penelope: Penelope is the Queen of Ithaca and the wife of Odysseus. She’s often mature and extremely stubborn, her loyalty Is only to Odysseus, and she has not cheated or married another as she hopes Odysseus returns home safely after years of being away. She’s also even kind and caring.

Athena: goddess of wisdom and strategy. She is one of the Olympians, the daughter of Zeus, Odysseus' former mentor, and Telemachus's friend. In Warrior Of The Mind, where Athena makes her debut, she tells the story of how she met Odysseus. When Odysseus was a boy, she set a challenge in the form of a magic boar that only the most skilled warrior could kill. The young Odysseus successfully killed the boar by outwitting it. Believing she could guide him, Athena approached him, offering to be his mentor. He agrees, and they train together. Years later, when Odysseus shows doubts in the wake of Polites sharing his 'Open Arms' philosophy, she tells him not to disappoint her.

In The Cyclops Saga, Odysseus does disappoint her when he not only spares Polyphemus but also reveals his name and home to the cyclops. The two argue, and Odysseus claims that she is alone. The two then part ways and do not reconnect for ten years.

Act II

Athena Ithaca Saga Athena in the Ithaca Saga In The Wisdom Saga, Athena befriends Telemachus, Odysseus' son when she tries to assist him in a fight against Antinous. Realizing what she should do after talking with Telemachus {We'll Be Fine}, she dives into Odysseus's memories. There, she viewed all the events that happened after her departure, from The Ocean Saga to The Thunder Saga. Once she finds out Odysseus is being held captive on Calypso’s island, she heads up to Mount Olympus and asks Zeus to free him. Zeus agrees to let Odysseus go if Athena can win his 'game' and convince the five chosen Olympians that he should be released. He calls upon Apollo, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Ares, and Hera, all of whom Athena convinces relatively quickly to agree with her. Her success angers Zeus, sending him into a rage and attacking Athena by throwing several thunderbolts at her. She makes her final appeal to Zeus to let Odysseus go as she collapses from her wounds.

After recovering from her injuries, Athena helps train Telemachus to be her new Warrior of the Mind, During Odysseus' arrival, she helps Telemachus face a large group of suitors. She appears to Odysseus at the end of I Can't Help but Wonder, wondering what the world could be if they had more empathy and saying that she feels bad for teaching him and others to be so cruel. Odysseus, touched by her change of heart, claims that it is not a world he would be able to see in his lifetime. He does say though that she can try to create that world on her own as she’s immortal, and he has to see Penelope. Athena understands and respects his choice, leaving him to see his wife.

• Quick Thought: This ability allows Athena to slow someone's perception of time to a near halt, allowing them to move and strategize much faster than the average person. • Quick Thought Dimension: Athena is able to transport people to the Quick Thought Dimension, which appears to her as a large, silver hourglass. She often uses this form of the ability to have full conversations with other people in less than a second. • Time Dive: While in the Quick Thought Dimension, Athena can "dive" through someone's memories and observe them in the order that they occurred. • Projection: Athena can send projections of herself somewhere else or she can cloak herself to become invisible. This ability is often used together with Quick Thought. • Life Creation: Athena is capable of creating incredibly powerful magical animals, as seen with the magic boar she had created as a test of skill in her attempt to find a student.

Suitors: 108 men who wanted Penelope of Ithaca’s hand in marriage. A few weren’t as violent, but most were violent, aggressive, insulting, and very dangerous. They mostly hated Telemachus for being in the way for the marriage of Penelope. They would try and fight Telemachus, most likely seduce the maids, and be arrogant, selfish, egotistical, prideful, and vain. They all, however, die when Odysseus comes home and finds out that they had villainous plans about his wife and son.

Antinous is the leader of the 108 suitors of Penelope.

Personality

Antinous is the most disrespectful and openly belligerent of the suitors. Despite Telemachus and Penelope being royalty, he has absolutely no respect for them whatsoever and openly treats the young man more like a servant than a prince while addressing the latter’s mother like a common whore, even though he really wants to marry her. Arrogant and self-absorbed, Antinous has full confidence that Penelope will choose him as her new husband, in spite of his treatment of the royal family.

He and the rest of the suitors take advantage of the laws of hospitality to overstay their welcome way past reason, try to pressure Penelope into marriage and have no qualms in planning to force themselves on the queen after murdering her son, Telemachus. Taking advantage of the fact that neither the queen or the prince can physically fight back or throw them out of the palace, they constantly harass the former to marry one of them while bullying the latter at any opportunity. Much like the rest of his "competitors", Antinous is openly lusting after Penelope and thinks he can do whatever he wants with her, regardless of what she thinks or what Telemachus has to say. In addition, he thinks that Penelope owes him her hand in marriage, since Odysseus has been missing for years and is most likely dead. When Penelope keeps rejecting his advances and giving him unbeatable challenges to stave him and the other suitors off, he is outraged.

Bibliography

Antinous was a nobleman who became one of the 108 suitors of Penelope in an attempt to become the new king of Ithaca. He quickly became the leader and proved himself to be the most arrogant and impatient of the bunch.

Relationship with Telemachus

Antinous harasses Telemachus about his mother taking 20 years to choose a new husband, calling her a tramp while doing so. Enraged by this comment, Telemachus challenges Antinous to a fistfight, which the latter wins.
