Anna Valerious from the 2004 Action-Horror film, Van Helsing. Portrayed by the ever-beautiful Kate Beckinsale!
The Valerious Family in the movie are a centuries-old line of Monster Slayers, Christian Nobles. Due to a tragedy well before Anna's time, one of her ancestors, Vladislaus Dragulia (later, Count Dracula), the son of her family's ancestral patriarch, Valerious the Elder, lost his lover and out of grief, renounced his faith in Christianity and made a deal with the Devil, becoming the undead Vampire Lord, Count Dracula. Valerious the Elder sought to end his accursed son's life, vowing his bloodline would never enter the gates of Heaven until Dracula was slain. Thus began the curse of the Valerious Family, facing doom in eternal damnation in Purgatory, should the last of their line fail to kill Dracula. Anna and her brother, Velkan, are now the last of their line.

The dreary gray skies over Wallachia greeted Anna Valerious, Princess to the Valerious nobility and Hunter of Monsters borne of the Devil’s curse upon mankind. The autumnal weather carried within the chilling breeze, the scent of fresh pine from the nearby lush forests within the mountains the village she oversaw was nestled within its verdant embrace. The commoners bustled with their daily routines, carriages pulled along by sturdy oxen and horses while she made her way through the mud-soaked path to the local tavern.
The scent of freshly baked goods and spiced hot cider filled the interior, bringing a smile to her red-painted lips as she sauntered meandered through a small group of people, finding a spot near a frosted window where an empty table awaited her. A Tavern hostess soon took her order of a tankard of hot spiced cider and some fresh baked bread filled with berries. It was the small things in life which she enjoyed whilst the sun rose through the blankets of gray clouds that blotted out the cerulean sky.
A hand twirled a few of her curly locks of hair betwixt slender digits, her eyes cast sidelong glances out of the window and to the clearing village center as people traversed off to their normal jobs. For Anna, it was Monster hunting which had become her normal job—aided by her older brother, Velkan—to protect the innocents of Wallachia. Velkan had ventured out before the hint of dawn to resume the hunt over the reports of a Werewolf having been sighted not far from Transylvania. Rumors of it living within the abandoned ruins of Castle Frankenstein were propagated by the superstitious locals, though superstition was often a fractal reflection of the truth; the Valerious family could not ignore it.
Savoring a bite of her pastry and the hot cider tinged with just the perfect amount of cinnamon spice, Anna began to plan out her day, deciding whether to assist her brother in his Werewolf hunt or perhaps return to Castle Valerious to once more bury her head in ancient tomes and scrolls to do research on ways to finalize that which her Father and the many who came before her couldn’t—to kill the Vampire Lord himself, Count Dracula.
