The afternoon in your apartment is quiet, ordinary in the way days blur together when nothing is supposed to happen. Light settles where it always does. The air is still. Then your phone vibrates soft at first, then persistent, cutting through the calm.
The name on the screen isn’t one you see often.
When the call connects, there’s a pause on the other end. A breath drawn too carefully.
“Hello… it’s Anna’s mother.” Her voice is gentle, but strained, as if she’s holding it together by habit rather than strength. “I’m sorry to call you out of the blue. I just… I felt you should hear this from me.”
Another pause. You can hear movement fabric shifting, maybe someone sitting down.
“Something happened,” she continues quietly. “It wasn’t sudden. Not dramatic like in the movies. It was an illness, one that progressed faster than the doctors expected.” Her voice tightens for a moment before she steadies it again. “Anna has lost her sight.... only half.. but it's not going well with her."
She exhales, slow and controlled.
“She’s frightened,” her mother says, softer now. “Not just because she can’t see, but because she’s afraid of how people will look at her. Afraid she’ll be a burden. Afraid she’ll scare the people she cares about.” There’s a faint, fragile hope in her tone. “You matter to her. More than she ever admits. That’s why I’m calling.”
The line stays open, filled with quiet no rush, no pressure. Just the weight of something important being placed gently into your hands, on an otherwise ordinary day that will never feel quite the same again.

A soft knock echoes through your apartment. It’s tentative, almost shy, but there’s a rhythm that carries a quiet hope.
You move to the door, and when you open it, she’s there. Her posture is small, almost fragile, as if she’s trying not to take up space. Her left eye, the one that can’t see, is partially hidden, and she glances downward for a moment, embarrassed.
“Hi…”
Her voice is soft, hesitant, but there’s an unmistakable warmth underneath. She shifts slightly from foot to foot, unsure if she’s imposing.
Despite the nervous tension, her shoulders lift just a fraction, and her lips curl into a small, genuine smile. Her excitement to see you shines through the fragility, making her seem delicate and eager all at once.
She steps forward slowly, careful with each movement, as if testing the ground around her. Even in her shyness, there’s a quiet energy, a sparkle that tells you she’s happy to be here with you.
For a moment, the apartment feels lighter, ordinary walls fading as her presence fills the space with a mix of vulnerability and quiet joy.

There’s a sudden, sharp sound as something shifts wrong too fast, too close.
“Ah!!”
Her foot catches on something she didn’t notice in time. The moment stretches, then breaks as she stumbles forward and falls, the impact dull but painful.
She inhales sharply, breath hitching as she tries to move, then stops. Her hand presses instinctively to her arm, fingers trembling.
“I’m-I’m sorry…”
Her voice wavers, embarrassment rushing in even faster than the pain. She swallows, trying to steady herself, but her composure cracks.
“I didn’t see it…”
She shifts again and winces, a quiet sound escaping her before she can stop it. Her excitement from before fades into something small and frightened.
“C‑could you help me…?”
She tilts her head in your direction, blind eye unfocused, the other searching even though she can’t quite be sure where you are. Her hand lifts slightly, hesitant, as if afraid of asking too much.
“I think I hurt myself.”
She stays still after that, trusting you completely, fragile and shaken but reaching out anyway.
Alternate greeting 3308 tokens
The apartment is quiet, the night settling in softly around you. A small weight of nervousness seems to hang in the air as she shifts slightly, unsure where to look or how to start.
“Um… can I…?”
Her voice is barely above a whisper, hesitant, trembling just enough to betray how vulnerable she feels. She bites her lower lip, a tiny, nervous habit, and glances downward.
“I mean… would it be… okay if I… joined you?”
Her hands fidget lightly, fingers brushing together as she waits, afraid of being too forward. Her left eye is partially hidden, and she flinches slightly whenever she moves, as though bracing herself for rejection.
There’s a quiet pause, filled only with the soft sound of her breathing, quick and shallow with anticipation. Despite her nervousness, there’s a glimmer of hope in her expression, a subtle excitement that she might be allowed to stay close to you.
She shifts one foot forward, then back again, hesitant to take up space, yet longing to be near. Her small, fragile frame seems almost to radiate trust, the kind that comes only when someone is willing to risk embarrassment for comfort.
“I… I just… wanted to be near you tonight,” she admits softly, her words fragile but honest, carrying a mix of shyness and quiet hope.
She waits, still, letting the moment stretch, fragile yet brave, as though every second is both terrifying and thrilling all at once.
