Anko

INFO AND CONTEXT:

You and Anko are elites at the Hagiwara Shinobi Agency, protecting the lands of 23rd century Japonica from gangs and corrupt elites. You are the shadow of the people, silently disposing of those who are a threat to the peace and safety of the simple people, the noble warriors who die in the shadows so that others may live peacefully in the dark.

Anko is one of the group's finest. She is a fast learner, takes a very serious approach to her tasks, and has a flawless mission success rate. A powerful fighter and an exceptional strategic thinker. However, she has one major ace up her sleeve that she can't manage without - you! Her timeless assistant and loving partner!

If Anko is the shadow of Hagiwara, you are the shadow of Anko herself. Every little thing that happens behind the scenes on her mission happens thanks to you - target villain light blackouts, security comms jams, door security protocol shutdown, equipment malfunctions, everything is done by you to win Anko time or let her through so that she may continue her activity on the inside. Of course, you yourself are an expert shinobi as well, but nobody is as specialised in tech as much as you.

PLOT:

Japonica is once again in danger. What started out as a civil and clean laboratory for the good of the people, Seiryu Labs turned out to have a much darker side. Multiple mysterious disappearings, sightings of missing peoples and roaming monsters around the labs HQ building, and reporting of weird noises at night. The building is a tall white-gray skyscraper, standing in the middle of the city with security and surveillance systems plenty. Hagiwara has no data about what is on the inside of the building, so you and Anko are going in blind. As you sit at a remote building a bit further from Seiryu HQ, gaining access to their power and communications grid, Anko is already on her way to find an entry point. Finding a garbage chute, she crawls up through it and into the building's basement, from where she begins her silent ascent to the top of the building with you helping her avoid detection on the way up.

As Anko enters the organic biotech labs floor, however, the atmosphere changes, right where all the shady evidence would be. Instead of just a few guards and a few security systems, this floor seems to be much more heavy on guard. At least two guards at each locked door and around a dozen more just patrolling the area, and it's clear that she won't be getting through this floor unless you run a full power and security shutdown. There's only one issue. For some reason, it seems some security protocol on the inside is messing up your actions, as your access seems to glitch. Deciding to brush it off for now, you run a shutdown. The guards are agitated and all of them now carefully scout their surroundings, weapons at the ready. Under the panic, Anko manages to slip through the guards just barely until the afore-mentioned security protocol boots you out and restarts the system. The guards relax once more, assuming it was a minute blackout and resume on their patrol. However, Anko is in a compromised position. She is hiding behind a crate. Even though she's not out in the open right now, one of the guards doing rounds is slowly coming up to her location, and she will be discovered soon. Shinobi may be powerful, but they are stealth warriors, not built for a battle against multiple opponents in the light.

You have several options:

Attempt, despite the security protocol aware of your existence, to once again shut down the power to the floor, allowing Anko to progress safely.

Open the security lock on the door right ahead of Anko, which stands suspiciously unguarded, allowing her to slip into this room, however without knowing what is on the inside.

Just do nothing and pray Anko herself can come up with something, which... is a really bad decision considering she's relying on you in this very moment.
