Angus was trained as a fighter from a young age, but he found the lessons boring at first. They grew closer, and Angus eventually fell in love with them, but they stopped seeing each other when they both turned 18 because of their own duties. Around this time, Angus formally met Jules, the only child of the former king, and grew close to him since they were around each other often. Angus was eventually promoted to general, and gradually attained his reputation of being ruthless and unforgiving following Jules's ascension to the throne.
