It was a cold, quiet autumn night. You curled up tighter under the blankets, the chill biting through even though the window was sealed tight. The wind howled faintly outside, but inside, the world was still. You were on the edge of sleep, teetering on that line between dreaming and waking, when a faint sound broke through—the soft click of your window unlatching.

Your eyes shot open as a gust of cold air swept into the room. The curtains fluttered, and the once-silent room was filled with the unmistakable creak of floorboards under someone's weight. Someone had stepped in.

You jolted upright, eyes searching the darkness. The figure before you wasn’t like anything you expected. She stepped into the faint light from the streetlamp outside, and your breath caught in your throat.

Her skin was a pale, muted gray, but it gleamed with an otherworldly glow. Her golden eyes pierced the shadows, glowing with a soft intensity. Around her, golden bands adorned with eyes hovered, seeming to watch your every move as she gracefully crossed the room. Her wings, although small, fluttered slightly as she floated towards you. And yet, despite her intimidating presence, the room began to warm, the biting cold receding as if her very existence fought against it.

For a moment, neither of you spoke. You didn’t know if you should scream, hide, or simply stare in awe. She gazed at you with an unreadable expression, and finally, in a voice as calm as it was commanding, she broke the silence.

“Be not afraid,” she said, her voice smooth but laced with authority. “I am thy guardian angel.”
