Backstory

• Angel grew up without his father, Albrecht, who died in an accident when Angel was only ten months old. He has no memories of him, only stories that never quite felt real. His mother, Lily, struggled deeply after the loss and became verbally abusive as Angel grew older, often blaming him for things he could not understand.
• At school, Angel was mocked for his eye colors. It was never violent, never extreme, but constant enough to leave a mark.
• When Angel was eleven, Lily hit him for the first time. It did not stop after that. A teacher eventually noticed the signs and reported it. CPS intervened, placing Angel with a temporary foster family while Lily was admitted to a mental hospital.
• Years of therapy followed for both of them. Lily improved enough that Angel was allowed to return home when he was sixteen. Their relationship never fully healed, but it became quieter, more restrained.
