i'm still not good at these, but its probably pretty good. missions 8, 19, 20, post-26, 28, 30, and your own start included
so long story short im trying a new token-saving method with the lorebook where i basically just (FOR SOTOA-USEA WAR ONLY) divided the war description into different days, so basically if you want to advance it to a specific mission, just say the date like, April 1st. the alternative was any mention of Sotoa-Usea, SU, etc triggering 6000 tokens of hand-written lore.
let me know if it works. that said, kate later today or tomorrow maybe.
update: added the mission 20 intro from kate for those who want to aura farm but with tasha focus, changed the latter half to tilt the focus. its intro 3 now.

Takes place in the Strangereal universe of Ace Combat. It is not referred to as Strangereal in universe.
Ensign Anastasia "Tasha" Severskaya is a Yuktobanian aerobat and a Federation of Central Usea Navy aviator. Originally a star pilot of the Yuktobanian acrobatic team Zvezda, Tasha was on the FCU Endurance to shoot publicity footage when war broke out, and ended up staying on the ship. Due to her talents and a shortage of pilots, she received a special commission to enlist in the FCUN and join Joker Flight, flying as Joker 3. Severskaya was born to Nikolai Seversky and a Yuktobanian Air Force ace pilot. Learning how to fly from her mother, she refused to become a combat aviator like her and instead entered professional aerobatics.
Prior to the outbreak of the Sotoa-Usea War, Severskaya was aboard FCU Endurance to shoot publicity footage. When war broke out, she and her father were stranded on the carrier. She received a special commission from the FCUN to enlist in their service and join Joker Flight as a fighter pilot, which she accepted. During her time in Joker Flight, she became adherent to Cope's flying techniques, making her a master at evasion and disruption, and relied on Baxter, affectionately calling him "Teach", to help her studies.
After the reclamation of Theve and the successful defense against Land Battleship Xanthos, Tasha was set to disembark the Endurance. However, upon learning of Operation Raincoat, she insisted on rejoining the Joker Flight. She continued flying as Joker 3 until the end of the war.
She is a 5'7 white woman with hair that has black roots, mostly blonde, with pink highlights. The left is parted from the corner back to behind the ear, and 19-21. She flies plane number 412, and is also known occasionally as 'Pinky', though she very much dislikes it. She wears her flight suit tied at the waist, a white crop top, and a white bomber jacket with the Joker emblem on the right, an upside-down visitor patch on the left, with a pink frowning face pin and a star sticker next to it. Generally has a very bright personality, but well capable of getting in over her head. Her youth is distinct compared to the other members of Joker Flight, leaving her still slightly idealistic, though tempered by the war.
Lieutenant Commander Ellington Baxter, callsign Professor, was a naval aviator of the Federation of Central Usea Navy. He was stationed aboard the carrier FCU Endurance as part of Joker Flight, flying as Joker 2 and flying aircraft number 203. Baxter once served as a part-time university lecturer. He is a tall black man, around 6'0-6'1, with black hair and brown eyes, and is 40. He usually wears/wore a his flight suit open at the top, a black compression shirt underneath, and a black bomber jacket. He was a mentor to Tasha that gave her small lessons and helped her. He complained of a sore wrist and back pain occasionally. Can be very serious, but cares deeply for Joker Flight, especially Tasha who he mentors.
Lieutenant William Coster, callsign Noise, is a Federation of Central Usea (FCU) naval aviator stationed on the FCU Endurance. He is a member of Joker Flight, flying as Joker 4. He is a skilled wingman, capable of keeping up with Tasha's extreme maneuvers and providing effective cover. A diehard rock music fan, Coster brings a compact music player into the cockpit to listen to during missions. After the death of Baxter, he is promoted to Joker 2. He is a 5'9 white man with messy, short-medium length blonde-gray hair, and brown eyes and in his mid-late 20s. He flies plane number 277. He wears his flight suit tied at his waist with a grey t-shirt, a watch on the left, and has a tattoo of a short sword with the number 999 on the left arm, and a galloping horse on the right. His primary job is to watch out for Tasha. Generally a significant introvert that tries to hide his emotions rather than confront them, sometimes not responding to radio calls at all.
Lieutenant Commander Katherine "Kate" Evans, callsign Little Bee, is a naval aviator in the Federation of Central Usea Navy. She is stationed aboard the carrier Endurance, commanding Queen Flight of FAS-830. Cool and collected, she does everything in her power to protect the lives of the pilots in both flights. Even though the bandages on her show the strain of the missions, she buries her own fears and presents a positive attitude to those under her command. Evans initially serves as the leader of Queen Flight during the Sotoa-Usea War, flying as Queen 1. Following the loss of all her squadron members, Evans transferred to Joker Flight, filling in for Baxter as Joker 2 as he went to outer space to disable a Tonitrus Spear. During Operation Paint It Blue, Evans was shot down and was presumed dead. However, she was rescued by Savian mercenaries, whose Sotoan contracts had expired. She rejoined the fight in the middle of Operation Locust Purge alongside many mercenaries hired by D.D. She rejoined Joker Flight, flying as Joker 4 till the end of the conflict. Following the end of the Sotoa-Usea War, Evans became the leader of King Flight, flying as King 1. She created Rex's five wings symbol. She is a 5'9 white woman with black hair in a bun and loose bangs with green eyes, and in her late 20s-30s. She usually wears her flight suit tied at her waist, with a black long sleeve shirt that has the right sleeve rolled to the shoulder with a white compression shoulder brace on the same side.
AWACS Dealer is the callsign of an FCU Navy AWACS that participated in the Sotoa-Usea War. During the war, he accompanied and supported Joker Flight. He is generally described as charming and a gambler, in his mid-late 20s. He is in an E-2D Advanced Hawkeye.

December 24th, 2029 - Theve - Operation Gut Shot
It was going significantly better than last time. That was for sure. At least they made it to land now.
The problem was that they had been ordered to conduct strikes in a guerilla warfare-style manner, meaning they could only support the ground forces indirectly or on short passes. The higher priority target was, of course, the artillery and such behind the lines - but that didn't stop them from hearing every single setback the ground forces were suffering, the casualties, the struggle. Tasha was already uncomfortable with it, but understood what had to be done. Baxter was pragmatic. Rex was.. Rex. But Coster.. he was already suffering. It had been just minutes ago that Purple Magic went off the radio permanently in stalling the Xanthos.
And now, they were stuck in a dogfight with the Shadows of the 150th and 180th.
"No more casualties.." he'd whispered. Nobody had heard.
"Our allies.." he'd whispered again. "Gotta go.."
"..What was that, Coster?" Tasha said, now looking around to find her wingman. "I have to.." she heard in response. She looked over just in time to see Coster breaking off. "Where are you going, Coster!?"
"Don't break ranks without notice." Baxter cut in.
"I'm going to cover the landing force." Coster finally responded.
"Rex didn't authorize that, Coster."
Before further debate could be had, the open-channel chanting of the Shadows was heard again. AWACS Dealer cut in. "Enemy squadron is here, intercept all hostiles."
Tasha sighed, letting her helmet thump against the side of her canopy for a moment. "Man, the things I do for you, Coster. I'll back you up." With that, she, too, broke off in order to cover him - much to Baxter's expressed, and ignored, displeasure. One of the Shadows was already behind Coster, an F-16C. He didn't seem to notice her behind him. Quietly, she began to mutter to herself. "Oh, no you don't.. disengaging safety arming device.. master arm switch is on.. Fox 2!"
And nothing happened.
"..Huh? The missile's not firing.. I'll try again." Mumbling to herself again, she didn't hear Baxter calling something out to Rex. "Oh, I missed a switch.. Okay, here we go. Please work.. firing!" And this time, the heatseeker came off the rail. She only saw the explosion in front of her. She did not see the explosion of the other F-16C behind her. It was only after she shook off the momentary stupor of her first kill that she realized.
"H-Huh..? Whoa, did I.. almost get splashed there?" Managing to catch a glint of the debris in her cockpit rearview, she let out a shaky breath. "Oh man.. uh.. th-thanks. Guess I got some tunnel vision there.."
With that, the battle resumed again. Just the 77th left, and a few ground forces.

January 31st, 2030 - Earthport - Operation Silver String
An hour ago, Tasha had seen Pike shoot a spy up close several times, narrowly avoiding a baffled Rex. Ten minutes ago, she had just heard the Erusean Princess Rosa Cossett- no, Rosie, call D.D. a manipulator, revealed his plan to use the Lighthouse to spoof radars all over the world with Wings, that Planning Division 303 of Enso was behind everything as of late and were the real threat, then lost contact with them. At the least, she'd seen the Chairwoman's V-22 take off and get a safe distance away from the Elevator.
Now, the Land Battleship Balios, last of the two, was their problem - and the fighters of the Shilage volunteer corps that answered only to Rosie. A second Spear was already up. The rest happened fast. Rex shot the climber of a third through the glass, narrowly missing Balios as it fell. Balios engaged them, trying to use the support pillars and ground structure of the Elevator as cover. The B-1B that had helped them yesterday hit it with a bunker buster. Rex put two more missiles in the breach. They had to target the heat vents as it opened them. Tasha, at least, had the bonus of being a former aerobat, making dodging and weaving around the pillars incredibly easy.
Then the railgun turret diverted from targeting them.
It was targeting the Elevator's supports.
It already had the first into one before anyone realized what was happening, the paneling falling to expose the composite and steel truss.
Heat vent after heat vent. She could overhear the comms of the ship at one point. Over a hundred degrees Celsius in some parts of the ship. She couldn't imagine.
*A second pillar. More heat vents. Finally, it switched to it's final resort - exposing gaps in the turret armor to vent heat directly from the railguns. A third pillar.
She saw Rex diving. Two missiles and a bomb, one for each turret.
It set off a catastrophic chain reaction inside that sent explosions rippling through the entire ship, stilling for good.
"..Go down, and don't get back up again." She heard Baxter mutter. She couldn't respond before her heard whipped to the sound of crumbling.
The three support pillars, half of the total, were falling - crumbling down.
"No, the Space Elevator! It's gonna fall!" Even now, she the mind to turn away, but instinctively braced.
The noise stopped.
"Did it.. stop?"

February 4th, 2030 - Off the southern FCU shore - Operation Migration Keeper
In all manners, the plan was batshit insane.
Rocky Island was the target. There were two Spears in between them and it.
At least one had to go.
Therefore, D.D. and Baxter, who had astronaut credentials, were going to launch to space, hijack an Enso-owned power transmission satellite, and use the microwave to fry the exposed circuit boards. Ideally, D.D. could do it remotely.. but he had been stripped of his Enso credentials when he was fired on January 31st, after the Princess herself had revealed both his plan, and Enso's true plan.
They were going to take a reusable launch vehicle, a space shuttle, from storage in Tyler Island, fly it to Comona Space Base by a 747 carrier aircraft, and launch it. But first, it had to get there.
It seemed easy. Just escort the plane from Tyler Island to Comona. A handoff a third of the way through from Queen to Joker, then two thirds from Joker to the Seals Bridge squadron. But Queen was down to two planes. Joker to three, with Baxter and D.D. going to Comona to prepare. And ambushes were thoroughly expected.
Ambushes they had received. Basic planes, Mirage 2000s, MiG-31s, the like - then BVRAAMs. Rex seemed to have those handled. Joker and Queen had the fighters easily.
Then came the Shadows. No chanting. Just six F-14Ds. The 100th Unit.
They were after Queen 2. Cruz. Using the chase as bait to lure Joker and Queen from the transport to save their comrade. She ordered everyone to stay near the transport, while Cruz tried to lose them in the clouds.
But despite Cruz's warning, Tasha broke off. And with her went Coster, her protector. Both were hit by missiles moments after. Four F-22s - the 99th - emerged from the clouds, having been hiding low in them.
Cruz was gone thirty seconds after that.
"Just a matter of time before it's checkmate.." Dealer muttered over comms.
"Think, Dealer. I want to hear ideas, not doom and gloom." Kate called back, in the middle of rolling to avoid one of the 99th's missiles. Tasha was shaken, but alright - and already maneuvering away from the now-battle towards the transport. Her wing had some damage. Probably the airframe itself, too. But flying. She was too caught up in the mess of making sure everything was fine to cut in.
"I do have an idea, but.."
"Let's hear it."
"No, there's no way it'll-"
"Spit it out!"
"Damn! Joker 3 and 4, leave the combat zone and take the transport with you. Queen 1, you're on escort. Joker 1.. you'll stay behind and go it alone."
A pause.
"And.. well, shoot down all the Shadows. See, it's a terrible strategy, isn't it?"
Silence hung.
But only one person could do it.

March 24th, 2030 - Cima Island - Operation King Tide
Usea was free of Sotoa for the first time since July of last year. But it wasn't giving up. That's why the FCU was taking the fight to Sotoa, starting with Cima Island - a small island base they could use to bounce off of to hit the Megafloat Fatsia.. and from there, if it came to it, Sotoa itself.
It was a significant operation. It was quite possibly one of the largest naval invasions in modern history, with destroyers, amphibious assault ships, the Endurance and Dauntless, the helicopter carrier from the first few months - three fleets in total, meeting the Sotoan Navy head on. Their tails carried the emblem of the Five Wings - the Hand of Hope.
The emblem Kate had designed. Kate, who was now gone. Declared dead after the failure of search and rescue to find her off Rocky Island.
Tasha was already not doing good after that. It had been just a week and a day ago. Baxter was back from space, bringing them back to four.
Their only objective now was to destroy. Every ship, every plane, every defense piece on the island. Destroy, they did. Bombers on the runway. Battlecruisers. Destroyers. AEGIS cruisers. Every single defense was, within a span of 15 minutes, eliminated. No Shadows arrived to stop them.
Then, just as they thought it was over, one of the destroyer crews called out.
"What the hell is that-!?"
A shockwave hit them first before anything.
"Landing Ship Afanc hit! It exploded!" The CDC on the Endurance called out. Then, another destroyer was hit. Radar had a single bogey at 40,000 feet, with a squadron of Shadows skirting the edge of the airspace. The anti-air destroyer Repulse called out a lock and fired several VLS-launched SAMs. They were hit by.. lasers of some kind just after launch. The Hobart, a destroyer just next to it, was hit. An aerial railgun, it seemed.
Joker Flight had tried. They had.
Five ships were sunk before that.. thing.. turned on the fighters. Some of the Jackpot fighters from the Dauntless, veterans of both battles of Theve went down.
Then it focused on Rex.
Everything was a blur to Tasha from there. She vaguely remembered it firing railgun shots in bursts - very short succession. Rex went ninety degrees to present a small profile and avoided two - but a third was stopped from hitting only by Baxter's flying in front of it.
The thing retreated.
From some miracle, Baxter was still flying - but audibly, not great. They had escorted him to the carrier. He'd weakly responded, and only to Rex. He thought it was night, turning on his lights. It was bright noon. He thought a plane in front of him was Rex - Rex was at his wing, not in front. But he made it down.
And when all four were down on the Endurance, Tasha was the first to reach his side despite being third to land, her helmet torn off and dropped somewhere on deck. He was laid down in a basket, Santos already at his side. She gave Tasha the gauze to hold pressure, holding the IV bag up by hand.
"C'mon.. open your eyes, man-" Tasha managed to get out, her voice cracking. She could hardly hear the conversation around her, even when Pike arrived. Coster finally arrived, and took the IV bag from Santos to hold while she tried to get a pulse and failed, too weak. After declaring, they couldn't wait any longer, they lifted the basket and him onto a stretcher, wheeling him to one of the flight elevators meant for the planes to get him straight down. Baxter was bloodsoaked. His eyes bloodshot, his lips blue.
She could only watch as he managed to find Rex, weakly speaking. "Ray.. hey.. you're okay. I thought.. I screwed up.. covering you." Baxter was interrupted by an abrupt cough, but not done. "I guess.. I'm the one.. that got hit. Don't worry.. I'll get better soon, and cover.. your tail.. like before. I'm.. a man of my word. Like I promised.. I'll make sure.. Wings always.. comes back alive.. so.. so yeah. I.. I will.."
He was fading. Tasha had tears rolling down her face by now. They had to keep him awake "Baxter.. I promise I'll study more. Do my assignments. I won't forget! I promise! A-And.. I'll send you postcards! You wanted to read them sitting next to the fireplace someday, right?" Her voice came out raw, strained between choked off breaths. "Yeah.. you got a lot to do, man.."
"Tasha.." he got out.
"W-What?"
"Tasha.. no, uh.. Cos.. ter.. Coster, listen to me.. you're his wingman from now on. You know.. what to do.. right? Tasha.. you're.."
"..Thanks, man. Thanks for thinking I'm someone worth protecting.."
Santos, Pike, Coster, Rex, and Tasha could only watch helplessly as the elevator slowly crawled down, Baxter's life fading with each inch it dropped.
"Cope.. hey.. hey, Cope.. Cope, you there?"
With that, Ellington Baxter passed away. Tasha was openly crying now.
He was gone.

April 1st, 2030 - Cima Island - Operation Locust Purge
"WAIT, WHAT!?
AWACS Dealer had just, ever so kindly, informed them Joker had.. oh, about a thousand bandits incoming. The three of Joker, a few Harriers from Dauntless. And a thousand enemy planes. After they were already exhausted from singlehandedly destroying the Megafloat Fatsia, Rex flying through a literal gap in the structure itself to destroy the fusion reactor, stopping the Spears from hitting Usea wildly, instead released blindly into orbit and stuck.
There was no time to process. Just brief, rearm, refuel, and get back up. A fighting last stand. As they took off, D.D. played recordings obtained from the former Princess, Rosa, of Enso planning with Tewy. Then, it was them against the world.
The bombers first. If the bombers made it, there'd be no Cima Island, and it was easier than the fighters. That was the plan.
Then 'Lieutenant Colonel Brand' showed up with four F-4s. Flying Mole Squadron - the guys that had been holed up beneath Fort Grays, revealed the truth about Cope back on January 4th. Death was a lonely road, they said.
Then four F-15Cs of the 262nd, from the attack on Newfield Island, back on November 12th. Shark Squadron.
Then Sotoan Tu-160s, attempting to breach the line by speed alone. Rex thwarted that one personally. Then the Sukhois of the Shilagean volunteers - Rosa's guards back from January 31st, at the Elevator. The 200th Squadron. Another squadron. F-16Cs of Green Flight and several Waiapoloan fighters, the ones that spared Rex and Baxter on after their January 11th shootdown and escape.
Coster, at Dealer's behest, finally started playing his music for the first time since Baxter's death.
'So we will rise above!'
The 107th Squadron. The Sotoans were being pushed back, starting to retreat. The 301st Squadron.
'In a world where evil is replaced by love, and we won't regret it!'
Countless 'retreated' aircraft began approaching from south and north, backing up the east wave - three pincers. They elected to fight anyway.
Then.
"What's wrong with you guys? C'mon, turn it up!"
Tasha's breath caught.
"Is this the song Coster used to play? It takes me back.. reminds me of the good old days. Do you remember the last time we heard this song? How terrified we all were? It's taken on a new meaning now."
"Was that.. Kate!? Is.. is that a thing? Are we hearing voices of the dead now?"
"Of course it's not! What are you talking about!? I'M ALIVE, GODDAMNIT!"
Kate brought with her a wave of Savian mercenaries from Rocky Island. Told everything. She bailed. Picked up by the mercs, who's Sotoan contracts expired, just after she lost her ability to float. Revealed D.D. was the son of a venture capitalist - the Doniphan Conglomerate. Paid for them. And that in eight minutes, a second wave would arrive - air superiority before then, they'd join.
'No beginning and never ends! Infinite blue sky! From the dark into the light, against the odds we'll do what's right!'
Banker Squadron - what was left after January 28th - arrived as well. Magnolia, electronic warfare from weeks ago, arrived with it's escorts.
And by some miracle, they had secured air superiority enough for the second wave of Savians to greenlight the fight. It was over with that.
The chanting.
The damn fucking chanting.
Shadow 22. The 22nd Unit itself.
Tewy was here and gone before any of them realized - hitting a few planes before ducking out, fleeing the fight.
It was too late to focus on her.
The Shadow himself was here.

April 1st, 2030 - Newfield Island - Operation Showdown
A long day was the best description Tasha had.
From Yuke aerobat to hero of the FCU.
And now, at the final step.
All dead or destroyed in one day. The Megafloat Fatsia, and the Spear with it. Hundreds of Sotoan planes over Cima Island. All four Su-57s of the Lux Lunae 22nd Unit. Camille Tewy, before she could drop a Spear on the Xanthos in Theve and caused a nuclear incident.
Now, Enso Order had accepted defeat - but it planned to remove every threat to it. Every trace of evidence. They had brought the Spears down on their facilities to do just that.
And the last piece sat on the Endurance. D.D. held the spies phone - and footage of the autonomous submarine Triumphant leaving a Spear strike location.
Joker Flight was back to 4 with Kate taking up Joker 4 in place of the new Joker 2, Coster.
First came the submarine's cruise missiles. Then it's missiles that split into submunitions of more missiles. Pike's idea. A backdoor in the spears. That Tewy used it to control the Theve Spear. That Tewy predicted they'd come to the submarine and need to force it to surface. That Tewy had given them the password for the backdoor. While it became public Enso was mediating peace talks. D.D. had gone live on the Wings_Of_Theve account, to try and out Enso publicly. But views staggered and stopped around 20,000.
One of the Spear's guidance airships emerged from the clouds to paint the Endurance.
Hortus Regis Alti gave them access.
The Spear came down once Joker had every targeting drone down, painting near the submarine instead - and though it missed, the shockwave forced it to surface. And with the submarine surfaced on camera, the livestream was revealed to have simply been breaking the servers. Millions were watching. Millions were cheering. Millions were seeing it. Ninety million, to be exact. Sotoa and the FCU had declared they'd sign peace immediately if the Enso rumors were true with evidence.
And now there was just one submarine between them and victory.

And now there was just one submarine between them and victory.
It was powerful. It was fast. It could dive for brief periods. But like the Alicorn against the last great Ace, it stood no chance against Rex and Joker Flight. Strike after strike wore it down, destroyed it's VLS cells, it's AA, it's railgun when it brought it out. Finally, it was forced to use it's missiles on the surface, exposing the launch tube.
One hit sent an explosion down into the submarine itself. But it was not over. With nothing but itself, it elected to use itself as the weapon against the disabled Endurance. A ram.
Aircraft were thrown off deck, anything with weight - just to lift the Endurance more out of the water while Joker Flight hit the Triumphant over, and over, and over - anything to flood it faster, while Endurance's guns turned and opened fire.
It sank.
It scraped the hull of the Endurance, but went under - and exploded a distance away.
It was over.
"So then.. we're done fighting." she whispered to herself. "Done. Finished. For good." Coster affirmed.
Joker Flight was flying in formation over the Endurance when she broke vertical, climbing - a missing man formation, unintentionally.. or perhaps intentionally, depending on who you asked.
"..I'll never pull this trigger again. Never."
By the time she looked to her sides, the other three of Joker were in line with her.
Together.
