Futurama Beta Wiki Futurama Beta Wiki Amy Wong Amy Wong Futurama character Amy Wong Original voice Lauren Tom (Ingles) Chelo Vivares (Spain) Cony Madera (Latino) Episodes The series has arrived Biography Amy is the daughter of farmers Leo and Inez Wong, one of the wealthiest families on Mars. In fact, they own half of Mars, specifically the western hemisphere, which, according to the show, is the better hemisphere, just like on Earth. She is likely an only child, as her parents are constantly pressuring her to give them grandchildren. Amy's age has not been revealed in the series, but if education in the 31st century follows the same patterns as in the 20th century (and the show suggests that it does), she must be between 18 and 21 years old. (The Futurama calendar from the year 2000 lists Lauren Tom's birthdate as August 4, 2980, so this could very well be Amy's "official" birthday.) She's a cute girl with Asian features, short stature, black hair, and usually wears pink jogging pants. She has an obscene tattoo on her arm that 20th-century televisions couldn't show. In one episode, she appears as a teenager, overweight and with acne. In another episode, she confesses that "I used to be too cute, so I had a 'cuteness reduction' procedure on my cheeks and nose." She is currently studying at Mars University, a position she obtained more through her parents' generous financial contributions than through academic merit. She is also a member of the Kappa Kappa Wong sorority. However, she spends most of her time working as an engineering intern at the courier company Planet Express . The company's owner, Professor Hubert Farnsworth , supposedly hired her because they share the same blood type. Personality Amy is one of the most likable characters one could hope to find in 31st-century New York, though that's not saying much considering the generally low moral standards of the show's characters. If someone needs attention, Amy is always willing to help, though they shouldn't expect to hold it for too long. She enjoys having fun and knows all the best places to go out at night and meet people. She's extremely sociable and friendly, especially towards men (or, more generally, male specimens). Amy is a hopeless romantic, and despite her frequent changes of partners, what she truly desires is love, affection, and tenderness. Starting in 2001 (season 2 of the show), she establishes a stable relationship with Kiff Kroker , which is sometimes strained by the distance. Among her flaws, we can mention that she is clumsy, superficial, naive, fickle, and not at all calculating—in other words, stupid. Furthermore, Amy is easily hurt by criticism and insults. Even though she is friends with Leela, she feels intimidated by Leela's intelligence; but on the other hand, she thinks she is prettier than Leela. Amy likes her independence, and despite coming from a well-off family, she prefers to live her own life and sometimes struggles financially. She prefers spending holidays with her coworkers rather than with her family. She usually dresses in pink sweatpants (as if she were doing laundry), and she has confessed that she dresses this way as a form of rebellion against her parents. Interests Amy's main interest is having a good time, usually in places with music where she can meet people. She also likes theme parks, especially the one on the moon, opera, and movies. Occasionally, she and her friends ski, play volleyball, ping-pong, and juggle (with Fry), and she also enjoys virtual skeeball. Her favorite foods include seafood bisque and dolphin, but she is not a coffee drinker, although she will sometimes have it in the backseat of a car with someone she has met (which is an excuse). She has a very extensive wardrobe with countless outfits for every occasion. She's also a fan of designer lingerie, for which she regularly receives catalogs. For sensual relaxation, she enjoys receiving oil massages on her back. Leela is known for her extreme sensitivity and no-nonsense personality. She is a headstrong woman who focuses on work first and fun later, although at times her emotions can occasionally get the better of her or become near obsessive which can cause her to abandon her work and friends for a short period of time. She is known for loving animals that are endangered and will often take their side when their way of life is threatened. However, this can also be a weak point as she will occasionally love a cute and seemingly harmless creature only for it to cause great harm or danger to herself or others, such as the infant queen bee in The Sting. Leela has a tendency to become extremely proud/obsessive in wanting to do a good job and be seen as a capable captain. When in one of these moods, she tends to become rather demanding and harsh to those around her. Other times, Leela can be very nosy about the situation of others and claim her opinions as the correct course of action/belief that others should follow. This can also backfire at times, like in Assie Come Home when she sabotaged a crate of guns she thought would be used for gang violence only to learn they were meant to be a gift in a peace treaty between two rival gangs and made the situation worse when each side thought the sabotage was done intentionally by the other side. In terms of romance, Leela was earlier depicted to switch back and forth to being ok with being single or being extremely picky in what she wanted in a potential love interest and dumping them over the smallest flaw. While she had been aware of Fry's romantic interest in her, she had stated that she couldn't picture a relationship with him because he was still so immature yet showed jealousy when he would show interest in someone else.Leela is a tall, fair-skinned mutant-woman with long, messy dark purple hair (inherited from Turanga Munda) which is tied into a ponytail by a black hair tie with bangs. She also has pink plump lips, and an ugly large cyclops-like eye that takes up most of her head. Her usually attire consists of a fitted white tank top, form-fitting black leggings, and knee-length dark gray army boots with black soles and straps. Leela also wears a Wrist LoJack-a-mater on her right wrist, and can occasionally be seen wearing a bright green jacket. When she marries Philip J. Fry in "Meanwhile", she ties her hair into a bun whilst wearing her wedding dress. While hiding from Yivo, Leela remarks to Amy that she won't have to trim her "elbow talons" any more, implying that she has been trimming them throughout the series to appear more human. Her eye and elbow talons appear to be her only visible mutant traits.
