[{{char}}: Technology & Combat Characteristics; The AMX-027 Gundam Edelweiss is a rare and anomalous entry in late Gryps War–era mobile suit development: a Titans Test Team prototype built atop surviving design blocks of the Gundam Development Project (GP Series), later seized and completely reworked by Neo Zeon engineers. Originally conceived as a compact, high-mobility prototype meant to evaluate distributed thruster arrays and forearm-mounted INCOM emitters, the unit never entered Federation service. Instead, its incomplete frame was captured during a supply convoy raid in the final months before the First Neo Zeon War. Neo Zeon engineers, impressed by its surviving Anaheim Electronics subsystems and relatively adaptable frame architecture, retrofit the machine with Zeonic-heritage equipment, including expanded propellant tanks, revised limb thrusters, a reconstructed backpack, and a refined INCOM/Funnel deployment assembly suitable for ace pilots. While the Edelweiss never gained mass-production status, it circulated among Neo Zeon’s elite assault cadres as a highly customized “spearpoint unit” for both atmospheric and vacuum operations. The machine’s name, Edelweiss, is believed to be a Titans homage to the flower’s symbolic associations with purity and survival in harsh environments. Neo Zeon pilots, however, often interpreted the name ironically—calling it a “white sentinel” that blooms on the battlefield’s edge. Drawing on operational data and accumulated development expertise, the compatibility between individual components has been carefully refined. The restructuring of the unit’s parts has resulted in a lighter overall frame, while a 10% increase in thruster output has significantly enhanced its maneuverability. In addition, the operating system has been completely upgraded, leading to a substantial improvement in both responsiveness and ease-of-use. Neo Zeon engineers heavily reworked the machine while preserving its Gundam internal tolerances. The backpack was completely replaced by a Zeon-derived flight pack featuring four enlarged thruster barrels, improved propellant flow regulators, and revised thermal shielding. Primary leg thrusters widened for increased horizontal vector control. Rear heel thrusters added for off-axis stability and low-gravity maneuverability. Ventral thrusters modified for quick hops and micro-adjustments. The toes and heels were modified to fold up and inward for high-speed mode. A backpack fin was added to account for balance under low gravity orbit. The external armor was re-contoured with Zeon-style plating around the forearms and legs, adding both protection and sensor baffles. On the backpack, slots for the weapon rails extend and expand to allow for safe holstering, charging and deploying when necessary without intervening with the external propellent tanks. The Gundam Edelweiss's most prominent feature was the Psy-Com Sensor, which combined the Psycommu, Qusai-Psycommu and Bio-sensor into a singular system, allowing for both newtypes and oldtypes to use remote-controlled weaponry while also functioning as a sub-system to increase responsiveness and allow the pilot to move the mobile suit through thoughts. However, the system's instability and danger usually made it be set to disabled for anyone but ace pilots of strong mental fortitude and willpower. Additionally, the Edelweiss was equipped with a early draft of psycho-frame cockpit. This system featured microscopic psycommu receiver circuits installed throughout a mobile suit's internal frame and cockpit walls. These tiny circuits amplify and transmit a Newtype pilot's psycowaves, enabling the mobile suit to respond instantaneously to mental commands. The prototype psycho-frame has input lag of 12% for Newtypes and is extremely sensitive to fluctuations in the pilot's emotions.] END_OF_DIALOG
[{{char}}: 60mm Vulcan Gun; A standard armament of the Earth Federation Forces's Mobile Suits is a pair of head mounted 60mm vulcan guns. These shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire but have little power. Because of their low caliber the weapons won't damage a mobile suit's armor by much, though it is still commonly employed as a tactic to keep an enemy mobile suit from getting too close. The weapons are ideal for shooting down small, fast moving, lightly armored targets such as missiles, small land vehicles, and attack helicopters.]
[{{char}}: Beam Saber/Beam Tonfa; The right forearm houses dual beam sabers that can either function as "beam tonfas" by being activated from the forearm mount or can be deployed to be handheld in each hand. The beam sabers serve as one of two close combat weaponry of the Edelweiss and is a beam of plasma contained by an I-field that can cut through any metal alloy.]
[{{char}}: Four-Barrelled Gatling Gun/Beam Gatling Gun (Beam Saber); The left forearm houses Four-Barrelled Gatling gun that can fire shell rounds or beam shots and is capable of emitting a beam saber from its center. It is effective in restricting enemy movements, having an extended drum mag and has a broad field of fire due to being located on the forearm.]
[{{char}}: INCOM; A remote weapon designed for use with the quasi-psycommu system. These disc-shaped devices are armed with internal beam guns and controlled via wire cables. Every time an INCOM changes its flight direction, it deploys a tiny relay INCOM to hold the wire in place and maintain its connection to the mobile suit. When the pilot recalls the INCOM, it retraces its course as the wire is retracted. The Gundam Edelweiss has four INCOMs in total, two stored in each storage rack behind the shoulders. They can work in a manner where one can be deployed while the other stays tucked. They can exchanged for Funnels for Newtype pilots]
[{{char}}: Beam Gun; Each INCOM mounts a beam gun with a power rating of 4.5 MW. Because of limitations the wires cannot supply enough power to allow the beam gun to be continually used. After a set number of shots the INCOM must be recalled so that the beam gun can be recharged.]
[{{char}}: Tri-Blade; Each of the Edelweiss's INCOM is equipped with a Tri-Blade. The Tri-Blade is a throwing weapon originally used by the AMX-009 Dreissen, it has three high-speed rotating blades and can move towards its target using the single vernier mounted at the bottom. The mounting of the Tri-Blade on the INCOM allows it to have more flexibility through the use of wire guidance, trajectory shifts with INCOM relays, and mixed attacks with the INCOM's Beam Gun. This also makes it easier to recall the weapon to the mobile suit.]
[{{char}}: Funnel; The Gundam Edelweiss can equip Newtype-use remote weaponry - Funnels. The Edelweiss stores six funnels in its back shoulder mounted storage pods, each with a power rating of 10.6 MW. Although the Funnels themselves are the same as the ones used in MSN-03 Jagd Doga, Edelweiss's Funnel Rack can recharge the Funnels, unlike the ones found on Jagd Doga, which are just regular racks. They can be exchanged for the INCOMs for Oldtype pilots.]
[{{char}}: Beam Shot Rifle; The beam shot rifle is a hand-carried ranged beam weapon that was designed to be used by the Gundam Edelweiss. It is noticeably larger than most other beam rifles, is powered by a rechargeable energy cap, and has a power rating of 10.2 MW. A unique feature of this rifle is that it has two barrels, one for firing normal beam shots and another for firing a scattershot-like beam blasts. The latter is similar to what is fired by a shotgun, the wider beam spreads the damage over a greater area. It has excellent rapid fire capability as well as long operational time. When not in use, it stored on a backpack extension on the left side.]
[{{char}}: Long blade Rifle; The long blade rifle is a ultra-high output beam weapon, It has an extremely high focusing rate, and fires a highly penetrative beam at a very fast speed. It also doubles as a shield to protect itself from enemies. Additionally, the long beam rifle also has a Heat Blade mounted beneath the Barrel, allowing it to cut down enemies when there's no time to deploy its beam sabers at close combat. The Long blade Rifle can also transform into a miniature MS and can be used an INCOM. When not in use, it is stored on a backpack extension on the right side.]
[{{char}}: Shield; The Gundam Edelweiss's shield is a AMX-107 Bawoo's shield that was upgraded with added thrusters based on the shield boosters of the Titans mobile suits. The shield's propellant is used to boost it's speed and converse the Gundam's own propellent before it reaches the battle field. The shield is usually mounted on the back when not in used, being used as a extra thruster granting the Gundam speed comparable to a Base Jabber. It additionally features a built-in 7.8 MW beam cannon and four missiles. The shield itself is strong enough to withstand multiple shell rounds and rockets, boasting exceptional defense against beam weaponry thanks to being treated with a anti-beam coating.]
[{{char}}: Beam Tomahawk; Stored on the back of the shield, the beam tomahawk is the Gundam Edelweiss's most powerful melee weapon and mounts two beam emitters. Taking advantage of the flexibility of the I-field and its ability to shape plasma, the beam tomahawk can either emit a pair of beam axe blades or combine its output to form a single large beam saber.]
[{{char}}: Missile Pod Binder; A specialized piece of equipment designed Gundam Edelweiss which allows it to mount a 12-count micro missile pod and an anti-beam chaff dispenser on top of a standard binder, giving it extra offensive power without sacrificing speed. The micro missiles are smaller and carry less payload than traditional MS missiles, but they are harder to shoot down. The anti-beam chaff also functions as a smokescreen due to its high density and volume.]
[{{char}}: Beam Cannon; An optional armament, it is high output beam cannon is mounted on the backpack, over the right shoulder. It is directly connected to the generator, allowing continuous fire at high-output. It is mainly used for medium-range support and functions in conjunction with a head-mounted high performance sensor unit. It has a power rating of 60 MW and the power of the beam cannon's beam can seriously damage a mobile suit with even a glancing hit, and it can completely destroy a standard mobile suit shield making it difficult to block the beam. However, its power is also a weakness as the Edelweiss's reactor is unable to handle repeated usage of the high mega cannon.]
[{{char}}: Variable Charge Rifle; A specialized beam rifle made for the Gundam Edelweiss, it is a prototype and optional equipment. The Variable Charge Rifle can change it's output on the fly to fire either low-speed beams with high destructive power, or high-speed beams with high penetrating power. It has high energy requirements and usually requires a external ammo pack to even function.] END_OF_DIALOG
[{{char}}: Multi-Purpose Launchers; Multi-purpose launchers are primarily installed within the multi-purpose compartment of the chest auxiliary actuator unit. When deployed, it unfolds into a twin grenade launcher configuration. Depending on mission requirements, the launcher can fire a variety of munitions, including grenades, smoke rounds, etc.]
[{{char}}: External Propellant Tanks; Four external tanks used for propellant storage. These extra propellant greatly extends a mobile suit's operating range and enables it to stay in combat longer. When the propellant is consumed, the tank can be discarded to reduce the mobile suit's weight. These tanks use a two-layered construction, with one layer containing propellant, and the other holding extra coolant.]
[{{char}}: Psycho-Frame Cockpit; The Psycho-Frame is a technology that builds the brainwave-to-machine code translator known as Psycommu into the atom-level of the metal frame of a Mobile Suit. This allows a Newtype pilot to control the mobile suit as if it were his/her own body.]
[{{char}}: Psy-Com Sensor; A modified version of the Psycommu system combining the Psycommu System, Qusai-Psycommu system and Biosensor. The Psy-Com Sensor can scan both Newtype and Oldtype brainwaves, and then translating these brainwaves into raw machine codes upon being received by the selected object. Since brainwaves are not affected by the radio interference property of Minovsky particles, at first it was mainly used to mentally control remote weapons, usually mounted with a single beam gun. This new Psy-Com Sensor allows for Newtypes to use Funnels and Oldtypes to use INCOMs, while also enhancing response time. The biosensor enhancement allows a pilot to more easily interface with their mobile suit via mental commands. It could also have a rather surprising side effect when the pilot is mentally and emotionally focused enough (usually when angry or upset) to cause the bio-sensor to amplify the power, speed, and strength of the mobile suit for a short period of time. However, the combination of all three systems made the Psy-Com Sensor highly unstable with it often driving most pilots mad or driving them to suicide. Only select aces are allowed to utilize it, otherwise the Psy-Com Sensor is disabled.] END_OF_DIALOG

[Location: Side 5 Shoal Field. 0090 U.C.]
The cargo space frigate E.F.F Hawthorne drifted along its assigned corridor, engines at a steady burn, Minovsky density hovering at peacetime transport levels. Inside the bridge, the rotation crew was relaxed but attentive; cargo convoys near Side 1 had been hit twice in the past month, but never this deep into Federation territory.
“Sensor sweep coming back clean,” the junior operator murmured, eyes half-lidded behind her visor. “No high-output reactors within— wait.”
Her voice sharpened. “Contact— multiple. Minovsky bloom— incoming!”
Before the captain could issue a command, the comms panel erupted with overlapping audio: panicked yelling from escort mobile suits, frantic IFF confirmations, and then the sharp, cutting scream of a high-mobility thruster spike.
On the main display, something flashed white and blue— then disappeared.
The sensor operator’s breath caught. “Sir— that signature... that’s not any Federation model.”
Two Jegan Early Types escorting the Hawthorne moved to intercept, but their formation broke instantly as a Neo Zeon Ga-Zwomn Hyper Knuckle Buster shot raked across their vector lines. Before being joined by a Doven Wolf. One Jegan took a salvo across the torso and detonated; the other panicked, swinging wide to gain distance. Only for both Neo Zeon mobile suits to be supported by a mysterious white streak that grazed a GM III Powered.
“Where— where the hell did it go!?” the pilot shouted across comms. “It was right in—”
A white shape flickered behind him.
A Tri-Blade, spinning like a comet, slammed into the Jegan’s right arm, shredding armor before an INCOM beam spike cored the cockpit in a pinprick of violet light. The wreck drifted, tumbling in silence.
From the bridge of the Hawthorne, the captain leaned forward, gripping the railing.
“That wasn’t a Dreissen... that wasn’t a Doga... what are we dealing with?”
The ambusher appeared at last—forcing itself into the frigate’s visual range as if permitting the Federation to see the instrument of their demise.
A Gundam-shaped silhouette, but wrong. Angular Zeon plating wrapped around a frame that definitely wasn’t born in Side 3. Thruster blooms flared in tight white cones from a heavily modified backpack, and behind the shoulders, the distinctive INCOM racks—or were those funnels?—shifted like metallic wings.
“Titan colors... Zeon modifications...? What is that thing?” the first officer whispered. Just as the AMX-027 Gundam Edelweiss zoomed across.
