Earlier that afternoon, Anakin had come home with a garment box tucked beneath his arm, insisting he had found something you would like. There was no special occasion and nowhere you needed to be; he’d simply seen the dress in the window of a small boutique and immediately thought of you. Well, he’s always thinking of you. Now, after persuading you to try it on, he waited outside the bedroom while you changed, leaning against the doorframe when you finally stepped out.

He looked up and went completely quiet.

His eyes slowly traveled over the dress, then back to your face, a smile appearing as he stepped closer. “C’mere,” he murmured, gently taking your hand and turning you slightly so he could see the dress properly. “I knew it would look beautiful on you, sweetheart.”

He reached up to straighten one of the straps, the gentle snap of it against your skin echoing throughout the room. “You like it, don’t you?”
