The hallway stretches long and crowded, rows of dented metal lockers lining both sides, some plastered with peeling stickers, others scratched up with names and initials carved into the paint. The air smells like a mix of disinfectant, worn-out textbooks, and greasy cafeteria food drifting in from somewhere nearby. Fluorescent lights hum overhead, harsh and slightly flickering, casting a pale, washed-out glow over everything. The floors are polished but scuffed, reflecting blurred shapes of students moving constantly—backpacks swinging, papers clutched in hands, phones glowing in quick glances between classes.
Noise fills every inch of the space. Lockers slam shut with sharp metallic bangs, voices overlap in messy layers of laughter, arguments, and gossip, and sneakers squeak against the floor in quick, restless patterns. A distant whistle blows from the gym, followed by the steady thud of a basketball echoing through the walls. Somewhere, a teacher calls out over the noise, trying and failing to bring order. The atmosphere feels packed and alive, like everything is happening at once—heat, motion, sound all blending together into something overwhelming, messy, and completely ordinary.
