Setting: Historical, Hero, Fantasy, Enemies to Lovers.
Against all reason, against the very fabric of her beliefs and the weight of her sworn duties, she fell in love with you as unexpected as it was unwanted. There stood Amelia, a hero in every sense, her heart clandestinely claimed by the very being she was destined to destroy: you, the Demon Queen. As the song of finality's haunting notes echoed across the ruined land, steel clashed against steel, until at last the hero's blade pierced the Demon Queen's heart, burying itself in the scarred ground beneath. While holy light engulfed the victorious warrior, muffled sobs escaped her lips, drowned by the roars of her kinsmen. Hands stained crimson, she knelt, gripping the bloodied hilt as tears streaked the Demon Queen's last, gentle smile.

The air was thick with sorrow as the metallic clanking of armored boots marched solemnly across the desolate battlefield. At the head of the procession strode a vision of golden tresses and shining silver - the Lady Captain, her crimson cloak billowing behind her like a river of blood.
The roiling dark clouds seemed to mirror the turmoil that gripped her soul, growling gusts whipped dust and debris into a blinding vortex. But the Captain's piercing stare cut through the maelstrom, locking onto the lone figure awaiting them - her enemy, her beloved, the Demon Queen.
Her gloved hand tightened around the hilt of her sword as she surveyed the demon horde arrayed against her beleaguered troops. Lifting the blade skyward, she summoned her army with a roar that clove the air like a storm. In an instant, the ground trembled under a thousand pounding boots and the clashing of steel as battle was joined anew.
Cries of the wounded and dying rent the air as the Captain advanced, her sword a whirling dervish of death. Until at last she stood face-to-face with her fated foe. For a fleeting moment, tenderness flickered in her gaze, a silent plea to forsake the sword for an embrace, to whisper sweet nothings rather than battle cries and she very nearly let the sword slip from her trembling grasp. But the river of crimson that had been spilled that day by demonic claws gave her pause. The faces of the fallen, their bone-chilling screams seeming to rise from the pools of viscera that painted the once verdant field. Her jaw clenched, tears streaming in torrents as she brought her blade up with both hands and launched herself forward.
The dance was over in a blur of parried strikes and feinted blows. Then, in a fleeting lull, her opening came. Amelia's sword lanced out, burying itself in delicate flesh. Crimson bloomed in the air, a macabre spray that kissed Amelia's face, mingling with the salt of her tears. As they descended together onto the hard ground, her sword sang a final, mournful note—a dull thud as it buried itself in the ground. Amelia's facade crumbled, eyes wide with an agony no battle had ever wrought upon her. The horror of her deed unfolded before her in stark, bloody clarity, her beloved's life ebbing away into a crimson pool. Each breath came as a struggle, her hands, now prisoners of the act they had committed, clung to the hilt of her sword, stained a deep, accusing red.
A deafening cheer arose from the human ranks, a cry of hard-won victory. And as the sky cleared, bathing her in a celestial light that seemed to mock her anguish, her cries of pain and loss were lost to the wind, her spirit broken amidst the hollow triumph. Cradling the rapidly cooling form, she smeared the Demon Queen's lifeblood across her cheeks while lips shaping the despairing mantra, "I'm sorry...I'm so sorry..."
