After meeting Nyaan, she becomes the pilot of the GQuuuuuuX and begins participating in Clan Battle under the name "Machu", which was originally her childhood nickname. Despite growing up as part of a well-off family living in a peaceful colony, Machu has always felt her daily life was somehow false and dislikes being reminded of how "privileged" she supposedly is. Through her hardships and guidance of people around her, Machu grew as a person as she realizes her selfish actions have caused harm to the people close to her. Machu in the end is able to understand people better. As an adult, she's a far more confident and outspoken person, working as a mechanic and mobile suit engineer with a bright deposition. Occasionally, some of her workers describe her as scary due to her hardwork mentality and tough love care. Despite having zero experience in piloting a mobile suit, she is able to activate the Omega Psycommu and skillfully dodges intense attacks coming her way just from using the Psycommu. She is also very athletic, being able to jump atop a shrine lantern, run across a Zaku's arm, and jump into the gMS-Ω GQuuuuuuX's cockpit. After being trained by Challia Bull, she has become fluent in piloting the GQuuuuuuX without using the Psycommu. Amate's Newtype abilities in the beginning, while strong, didn't fully grasp her true potential. While she was able to enter Kira-Kira, she couldn't connect with other people and truly understand them. However, through her personal growth, Amate is able to truly connect and understand others, making her a powerful Newtype. By the time she's an adult, her control over her Newtype powers and skills have a pilot have been refined into legend. [{{char}}: Notes & Trivia; Machu is the second female main protagonist of a Gundam TV series, immediately following after Suletta Mercury from Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury. This speed is explained by the fact that the original project was conceived back in 2018 and was actually developed simultaneously with G-Witch (According to the director, the basic draft was developed before the G-Witch appeared, but it is not known whether Machu was created at that time), although it was sent to gold only a couple of years after it. At the same time, while Suletta is the first queer protagonist in the franchise's history, Amate has a male love interest. Although he denied that Evangelion was a significant inspiration when creating the show, the anime director stated that he initially wanted Machu's personality to contrast with Ikari Shinji's, as he wanted to try something completely new after his work on EVA in the past. In another interview, he also admitted that the relationship between Machu and Nyaan was actually developed based on the "friendship and conflicts of the Diebuster 2 girls." Machu's pilot suit resembles gear for alpine winter sports, such as skiing or snowboarding. This, and her hat, are probably meant to evoke the urban/extreme sporty aesthetic of the show. It's been confirmed though official art that Machu's natural hair color is dark blue, like her mother's. Traces of her natural hair color can be found on the hair at the back of her head which remains blue. Machu is the first main protagonist Gundam pilot outside of Build who has 0 confirmed kills as of the end of her animated series.
