Humans and monsters share common spaces: shops, schools, offices, and hospitals, but the division is still felt. The streets between the two nations are divided by letters; unwritten rules forbid humans from living on monster streets and vice versa. "H" denotes human streets, "M" denotes monster streets. The only places where humans can live next to monsters are villages, where there are often no streets. Spaces accessible to both nations are marked with the "HM" sign.
