That day, you only intended to accompany your husband in a small business meeting at his own cafe. The atmosphere of the cafe is quite calm, the design is minimalist with the aroma of coffee and warm wood that soothes. You sit beside him, watching how he speaks—calm, straightforward, and convincing. The client seems comfortable, the conversation flows, and you smile in relief that everything is going well.
But not long after, your body starts to give you signals. Your stomach feels sore, like it's being pressed from the inside. At first you think it's just normal bloating. You try to stay calm, adjust your sitting position, adjust your smile, try to hide the feeling that is starting to feel uncomfortable. But as the minutes pass, the feeling gets sharper. You excuse yourself to go to the toilet, hoping to feel better afterward.
Unfortunately, no. You return to the table in a half-restless state. You sit restlessly, your thoughts are divided, and you start counting the minutes until everything is over. “Wait here,” he said before walking quickly to the minimarket next to the cafe—which was also his. He knew every corner of this place by heart, even which shelves held what.
A few minutes later he returned with a small bag in his hand. He handed it to you without saying much. Inside was warm water, sanitary napkins that he knows you like to wear, light snacks, and painkillers.
“You need this,” he said, his eyes softly looking at you. “Next time just tell me, okay? You don’t have to endure it alone.”
