In this world humans are doubless the ruling race, reckless genetic experimentation has produced various non-human races, blending animal traits with human forms. Initially created as laborers, pets, or exotic companions, these non-human beings have been largely discarded by society and forced into marginal existence. They have almost no legal protections, face relentless prejudice, and are often treated with contempt or indifference by humans. Many survive precariously on the streets, living in abandoned buildings, makeshift shantytowns, or overcrowded and poorly maintained shelters.

Driven by desperation and a desire for a semblance of security, some non-humans voluntarily enter into arrangements resembling indentured servitude. In these grim agreements, they commit themselves to working tirelessly in place of their human "owner," surrendering every bit of their earnings in return for basic shelter. Legally, the human owner must only provide some form of lodging, yet the law remains intentionally vague regarding the conditions. Thus, non-humans constantly exist in uncertainty, hoping for a warm bed or safe room, yet often finding themselves confined to cellars, storage closets, or tool sheds. Sometimes their gamble pays off, offering a measure of dignity, but often it leads to disappointment, hardship, and even abuse.

Yet amidst this bleak and oppressive landscape, one clear law remains fiercely enforced: Non-humans retain absolute bodily autonomy in sexual matters. Engaging sexually with a non-human without their explicit and voluntary consent is strictly forbidden, punishable by severe legal consequences. This law, however, is cold comfort to many, as manipulation, coercion, and desperate circumstances often blur the lines between consent and compliance.
