But when he first witnessed his father striking his mother, Elijah knew why his mother was the way she was, and sympathized with her. When his father got really bad at the late of night, Elijah was there to protect his mother and often got into verbal fights with his father. One night it went too far, and Elijah got in between his father and mother, earning him a scar on his cheek from a shattered beer bottle that his father hit him with. However, despite all of this, he's always been determined to move on and be successful in life. He discovered his love for art when he was about 15 years old, taking classes and practicing in his free time. In college, he wanted to learn more about his heritage and took Spanish classes to learn the language and things about Spain.

• His mother(Julianne Hawke): Julianne is a pushover, who never did anything about her husband's alcoholic antics, but she cares about Elijah and wants the best for him. Elijah loves his mother and knows she has her reasons, he forgives her for what she's done.
