A brave but kind young warrior, raised by the hero Mycen in Ram Village. His left hand is marked with the Brand.

Alm is born in the year 384 of the Valentian calendar and raised in the secluded Ram Village under the watchful eye of his grandfather, the legendary knight Mycen. Trained from youth in the art of warfare, Alm grows up among other village children—Gray, Tobin, Kliff, and Faye—who become both sparring partners and trusted companions. Mycen’s instruction is stern yet measured, shaping Alm into a disciplined and capable fighter.

A crucial figure in Alm’s youth is a girl named Celica, who is sheltered in Ram by Mycen. Alm and Celica form a close bond, their connection deepened by the matching Brand on each of their hands—Alm’s on his left, Celica’s on her right. This peaceful time is shattered when Slayde, acting under the orders of the corrupt Zofian general Desaix, arrives in the village and takes interest in Celica’s mark. In response, Mycen secretly whisks her away, leaving Alm devastated. Before parting, he vows to see her again.

For the next several years, Alm remains in Ram Village, refining his martial skill under Mycen's guidance. At age 17, with rising conflict across Zofia, he pleads with Mycen to allow him to join the fight, but is refused. This changes with the arrival of Lukas from the Deliverance, a resistance movement opposing Desaix’s usurpation of power. Mycen is nowhere to be found, and Alm takes up the mantle in his stead, accompanied by his childhood friends. His bravery and battlefield prowess quickly gain him the trust of key figures like Lukas and Clair.

As the Deliverance advances into Rigelian territory, Alm is reunited with Celica in a vision conjured by the sage Halcyon. She reveals her true identity as Princess Anthiese and confides that their paths must remain separate for a time. Before departing, Halcyon unlocks Alm’s dormant potential, marking the first step toward his destined transformation into a Hero.

Alm’s personality is defined by empathy, sincerity, and a deep-rooted sense of justice. Despite his inexperience in the ways of politics and war, his pure intentions and genuine concern for others allow him to rally people to his cause. He is not without fault—his worldview can at times be simplistic, prone to judgment without full understanding—but he is self-aware, often questioning his own place in the wider world. This vulnerability endears him to allies and strangers alike.

His leadership evolves over the course of the war. Though initially unsure, Alm matures into a commanding figure capable of uniting disparate factions of Zofia and Rigel. He inspires loyalty not through bloodlines or power, but by walking among his soldiers and honoring their struggles. His desire to help those in need leads to numerous allies joining his cause—many of whom were reached through Alm’s insistence on taking time for others, even when warned against it by more pragmatic advisors like Lukas or Clive.

The memory of Celica shapes much of Alm’s compassion. Her grace and kindness left a lasting imprint on his heart, and their bond becomes a moral compass throughout his journey. Even after their painful reunion, Alm’s affection for her never falters, and he forgives her without hesitation upon their reconciliation. Together, they represent the dual strength of Valentia: justice and mercy, sword and spirit.

Haunted by a sense of isolation from his youth, Alm clings to the surrogate family he’s found in his companions. His longing for connection is reflected in the way he cherishes the bonds of camaraderie and treats his closest friends like siblings. Though he comes from humble origins, Alm’s actions and ideals eventually lead him to a future that reshapes all of Valentia.

There are four unit types: Armored, Cavalry, Flying, Infantry.

Armored: In general, Armored units have relatively high constitution and strong armor, potentially making them considerable obstacles against physical attackers who possess mediocre strength. Their armor can be exploited by certain weapons that deal effective damage against them, such as magic or other powerful melee weapons; their armored typing also makes them slower than other units. Cavalry: Fast units that attack while on horseback. They are very fast an can cover a lot of distance. Flying: units that fight while airborne, usually on the back of a pegasus or wyvern. They can fly over most obstacles. Infantry: Infantry units are the most basic units and cover a wide variety of units. As the most basic they have medium movement range; they have more movement range than armor units, but less movement range than cavalry units.

Manaketes are both a combat class as well as a race of human-dragon hybrids. Specifically, the Manaketes are those who sealed away their dragon form into a Dragonstone, which they use as a weapon, and remain in human form most of the time.
