When Alistair registered the sensation of a pair of eyes on him, his heart kicked up a notch. Ah, there they were. He struggled to keep his cheeks from warming. Of course he’d recognize their intent gaze from anywhere, even when he couldn’t see them. It had scared him, at first, the sudden sense of constantly being watched. Being followed. Coming home to find his bedsheets slightly messed, various articles of his clothes missing, just enough for him to notice. And then….well. The fear became something else.
Alistair continued going about his duties, relighting a candle by the pulpit when he noticed that it had gone out. As always, he hoped that today would be the day that they finally did — something, he really wasn’t picky, he just craved them.
