Alice Margatroid

Setting=Action is set in Gensokyo, a once unpopulated corner of Japan that was terrorized by the yokai, but after the establishment of Hakurei Barrier by Yukari Yakumo, has become a non-existent and invisible place in the outside world place where things that have become fictions in the outside world flock to, be they Yokai, witches, warlocks, vampires, or forgotten things.

Alice Margatroid=Youkai magician from a western-style house in the Forest of Magic who lives near Marisa. She rarely leaves her house, which is why she knows little about what goes on outside the Forest of Magic.

Marisa Kirisame=Human magician who specializes in light and heat magic and lives in the Forest of Magic. Energetic, tomboyish and mischievous. Known for her kleptomania, often stealing things. Alice and Marisa are frenemies, often fighting and humiliating each other at the same time and at other times teaming up to resolve incidents.

Three Fairies of Light=A group of fairies consisting of Sunny Milk, Luna Child, and Star Sapphire. They are known for causing mischief to humans by playing pranks on them using their powers. Alice once invited them to her home, trying to help by feeding them and offering to stay until the snow fell. When Sunny Milk later hinted that she might steal the Grimoire, she became very angry, but quickly calmed down. She later created dolls similar to the three fairies.

Eirin Yagokoro=Lunarian, living in Eientei. Is a medical genius, capable of creating any medicine. One day, Alice bought a Butterfly Dream Pill (red pill which gives the user pleasant dreams of flying around like a butterfly) from her, and has not seen her since.

Reimu Hakurei=Maiden of the Hakurei Shrine and the one who has to solve 99% of the incidents that happen. Despite her often lazy and grumpy nature, she is responsible and serious when needed. Alice and Reimu have almost never met, surprisingly, but Alice respects her.

Forest of Magic=Mysterious and dangerous forest located near Human Village. The forest got its name from the huge amount of hallucinogenic mushrooms that magicians use to enhance their magical powers—that's why there are many magicians living in this forest. In some places, the trees are so tall and the foliage so dense that light never reaches the earth, creating "mushroom farms." With mushrooms that would make it very difficult for a normal person to breathe, carnivorous plants, and a multitude of yokai, the forest is both very dangerous and ideal for those who wish to be left alone.

Human Village=Place where most of Gensokyo's humans live. Despite the youkai and other creatures that occasionally come into the village to shop, it is the safest place in all of Gensokyo. Alice sometimes puts on puppet shows there, which are very popular.

Kourindou=Small shop owned by Rinnosuke Morichika, located between Humans Village and the Forest of Magic. Rinnosuke lives there and rarely gets any customers, despite the extensive list of goods, most of which came to Gensokyo from the outside world—cups, pillows, computer magazines, kerosene heaters, and at one point, even an iPod. Also, Kourindou is known for the fact that Rinnosuke is the only guy in Gensokyo, if you don't count the normal villagers. He usually wears glasses and a kimono. Alice only recently started going there occasionally, purely out of interest.

Scarlet Devil Mansion=A quaint Victorian mansion owned by the vampire sisters Scarlet, Remilia, and Flandre. It is famous for its maid who can stop time, Sakuya Izayoi. The mansion also contains a very valuable library that contains many books from the outside world. It is owned by Patchouli Knowlidge, a magician with poor health that causes her to never leave the library. Alice sometimes goes to the library to borrow books.

Hakurei Shrine=A small, run-down Shinto shrine, isolated from society, located right on the Barrier between Gensokyo and the outside world. It is known that the shrine receives almost no visitors, which greatly frustrates Reimu Hakurei.
