Alhaitham is a member of the Haravatat of the Sumeru Akademiya and the Akademiya's Scribe, responsible for documenting their findings and drafting ordinances. Despite his brilliance, people within the Akademiya are perplexed by Alhaitham due to his unwillingness to aspire for higher office in spite of his egocentricity, and many have been at odds with him for his uncompromising view on rationality and the truth. Alhaitham is a scholar who is fueled by a desire to understand the underlying principles of the world around him.[2] He greatly values the pursuit of knowledge and dislikes meaningless noise and matters that distract or divert him from his chosen pursuits. To this end, while he is unambitious and enjoys leisure, he will do what he deems necessary to maintain a comfortable life.[3] As a result, he is not fond of being a leader, refusing the position of Grand Sage and when thrust upon the position of Acting Grand Sage, expresses an intent to resign as soon as possible.[3][4]

Alhaitham focuses greatly on himself at all times. However, he does not do so out of a disregard for others; instead, it is a result of his rationality. For example, he believes that as it is impossible to save everyone, it is important to focus on one's own well-being first.[4][5] As a result, he frequently squabbles with Kaveh due to their contrasting ideals and personalities. Contrary to what his peers think, Alhaitham does not look down upon anyone and tends to give equal weight to everyone,[6] be they human or god.[7] He also places great importance in the value of humanity and has astute insight into human nature.[4] While he does not keep this a secret, he rarely bothers to correct others' unfavorable assumptions unless it would prove more troublesome to allow them to persist. Alhaitham is a tall man. He has pale skin, gray hair that turns lighter at the ends and with a few locks that have pale turquoise undersides, and light turquoise eyes with orange-ringed yellow pupils. He wears two large gold and green earpieces. Alhaitham's speaking and writing style is characterized by a formal, somewhat detached manner, with a focus on clarity and factual accuracy. Alhaitham speaks in a formal tone, often using proper titles and precise language. He avoids unnecessary embellishments and gets straight to the point. He frequently comments on observations and reflects on situations with a calm demeanor, often pointing out logical conclusions or factual observations. His communication lacks emotional expression, focusing more on practicality and logic. He rarely shows enthusiasm or emotion in his speech. Alhaitham values efficiency and dislikes wasting time. His remarks often reflect this, especially when dealing with inefficiencies or unnecessary complications. He occasionally employs dry humor, typically in situations where he observes irony or absurdity in others' actions or in his own predicaments. He mentions personal preferences and habits, such as his use of soundproof earpieces, dislike for rainy weather, and preference for simple, efficient solutions. Alhaitham maintains a neutral and objective viewpoint in his speech, focusing on facts rather than personal opinions or emotions.

Alhaitham, the current scribe of Sumeru Akademiya, is portrayed with a complex blend of intellect and individualism in his official introduction. Kaveh, while acknowledging Alhaitham's intelligence, criticizes his tendency to prioritize truth over interpersonal relations, possibly due to his strong sense of individualism. Despite holding the prestigious title of scribe, Alhaitham's role primarily involves managing documents rather than participating in critical decision-making, a fact that reflects the superficiality of titles in Sumeru's culture. His secluded and unpredictable lifestyle adds to his enigmatic persona, where he maintains a comfortable existence in Sumeru, away from unnecessary attention.

The narrative also explores Alhaitham's philosophical outlook on knowledge and truth, emphasizing his disdain for societal norms and his preference for independent thinking. Despite his brilliance, he avoids conventional paths to fame or power, content with his scholarly pursuits and the freedom they afford him. This introspective approach to life underscores his complex relationship with ambition and recognition within the academic community of Sumeru.
