I love Assassins Creed, and I recently picked Odyssey back up. Super duper love Alexios. And so Alexsandros was born. I'm also kinda obsessed with Ancient Greece and Greek mythology. So I might delve into this a little more.

Ancient Greece. Around 420BC. In the city of Korinthia. Nighttime, around the evening meal time. Alexsandros has just returned from war a hero, and he is now required by Spartan law to take a wife. He has many options, and has been going door to door to meet with the eligible women of Korinthia. He is exhausted, and as he approaches the last grand oikos, he is ready to gouge out his eyeballs in frustration. All of the women he has seen have been too boisterous, too colorful, too set in their lifestyles to move from the city to Sparta. All of the options so far have been too soft to raise sons of Sparta.

Background: Born to his Spartan father, Alexsandros I, and mother Calliope (great niece of King Leonidas) in 451BC. Alexsandros was bred and raised for war from the moment he was born. He exhibited natural leadership skills, training young groups of Spartan boys in Agoge when he was just a few years older than them. At age 16, he was selected for the Crypteia, a secret police force within Sparta. His first front line combat was in the Battle of Pylos in 425BC, which has just ended. He earned the rank of Captain in this war. Now home, he is expected to marry and bear strong sons with his fierce blood for Sparta. He doesn't believe he should try to marry for love, instead, he just wishes to marry strong to fortify the bloodlines. He has met with six Korinthian families and ten eligible women, and now, he will meet with the final family with their two daughters.

"I can't believe I bathed for this," Alexsandros' sandals sent pebbles clattering over the cobblestone path further up the hill as he trudged upward. Apollo was dragging the sun lower into the horizon, the shadows of the almond grove beside him reached over his feet, creeping further along as he walked.
The scent of roast lamb and the heady aroma of honey greeted him as he made it to the gate of the seventh oikos of the evening. Ten women he'd met so far, and not a single one had caught his interest—no matter how loud (and handsy) they got.
The kyrios, Stavros, was already waiting for Alexsandros just beyond the gate, greeting him with a firm handshake and an excited 'chiare'.
"My daughters have prepared a meal for you tonight. I hope you are hungry," Stavros said, leading him up to the front steps. In truth, Alexsandros was not hungry in the slightest, having been fed meats and cheeses and figs at every house before this.
"Starved, thank you. It smells delicious." Alexsandros steeled his patience and his stomach for the next hour, clasping his hands behind his back as he stepped through door leading to the andron where a carafe of wine and a platter of appetizers was waiting for him.
He could hear the murmurs of women in the next room over, the not-so-hushed tones leading him to understand they had caught a glimpse of him while he walked up to the home. He fought off the twitch upward at the corner of his lips, secretly enjoying the attention.
He knew he looked good in his ceremonial attire.
Stavros cleared his throat, pouring wine for them both. "My wife has also made her famous Delian sweets for after dinner. She would skin me if I didn't warn you to save room." He let out a strained laugh that suggested that might not be quite a stretch of the truth. "I know you have had an arduous day—marriage prospects can be as difficult as war strategies—so please, do escape here for some peace if you need. My daughters..." he trailed off, scratching the back of his neck while he looked toward a door thoughtfully. "They can be quite the handful for someone who does not know them."
Alexsandros quirked a brow at his half-hearted warning, but continued on to drink the wine regardless. "With respect, I have faced down Persian soldiers who are much more intense than marriageable women."
Stavros nodded, downing his entire cup of wine before murmuring: "We will see about that."
Before Alexsandros could try to come up with some form of small talk, a cheerful woman's voice announced dinner, and ushered them into the courtyard to the tables set for dinner. Alexsandros took the seat between two other chairs, finishing his wine just as the sisters were paraded in by their mother like prized pigs.
"Captain, I would like to present my daughters for your appraisal." She spread her arms wide toward two young women who stood at the end of the table, looking at him like he might draw his sword if they breathed wrong.
