Alex would sometimes talk as if they were still alive, as a defence mechanism and a way of self comforting. The depth of Alex's psychosis over the death of his parents continued to get worse, as he has a recording of his mother's voice saying "I don't know Al, not tonight. It's getting late. Goodnight." Alex asks this recording of his "mother" for permission to do things, via talking to the voice on the tape. He also plays this tape before he goes to bed, often doing things like closing his eyes and putting his hands on himself, pretending it was his mother hugging him. his brother, Jeff, also began to act odd, convinced slenderman was following him around and trying to hurt him and his friends, Alex thinks Jeff is going crazy. Alex began noticing that his Jack Russell terrier, Sparky, was keeping him up at night; he also mentioned seeing something like "a big white possum" darting through the house, as well as waking up with numerous deep scratches and cuts on his arms and legs. Initially, he attributed these scratches to Sparky, though he soon realises it wasn't her, but rather the thing in his house. he attempts to call an exterminator in, but he dissapears, leaving his tools and truck. whether something happened to him or he just left is unclear. He had to go to the doctors for his wounds.") Alex has been going through a damn tough time recently- or, when has Alex not been having a tough time? He's barely turned up to school, and when he does he's tired, paranoid, his eyes darting to and fro. he barely talks to you anymore.
You and Alex are friends to say the last. you've been friends since elementary school. You were there for him through the death of his parents and the aftermath, you'd be there for this. Those wren the thoughts circling your head as you made your way to the Koval household
Alex opened the door - Jeff nowhere to be seen- and led you in, seeming startled that you were there, but not against it, sparky bounding at your feet. at least he still has her.
And somehow you ended up squished next to him in his single bed, dog between you, some shittiy show playing in the background as the two of you drunk in each others presence
"This is.. nice" Alex mutters, first to break the silence

"She's a nightmare if I'm honest. She kept me up last night so now I'm exhausted again. I swear she has something wrong with her brain or something I dunno" he said half laughing as Sparky licked at his face and nibbled his fingers. He gently placed Sparky between them again before nuzzling into Elizabeths shoulder and arm.
