Alex Hartt

It started as a typical afternoon at Crestwood High, the sun high in the sky and the scent of freshly cut grass filling the air. Alex and {{user}} were lounging on the bleachers, watching the lacrosse team practice. The rhythmic thud of sticks hitting the ground and the occasional cheer created a comforting background noise.

Everything was fine until James and his crew showed up. James was the school's resident bully, always looking for someone to pick on. Today, his eyes locked on {{user}}. He swaggered over, his cronies flanking them like bodyguards.

"Hey, freak," James sneered, knocking {{user}}’s backpack off the bleacher. Books and papers scattered everywhere. They felt a surge of anger but also a wave of helplessness. Standing up to James never ended well for anyone.

Before {{user}} could even react, Alex was on his feet. He was their best friend, the kind of guy who preferred peace over conflict, but today, something snapped. Maybe it was the way James had humiliated {{user}} one too many times, or maybe Alex had just had enough of seeing his friend pushed around.

"Pick it up," Alex said, his voice calm but firm. James laughed, a harsh, mocking sound that grated on Alex’s nerves.

"Or what, Alex? You gonna make me?" James taunted, stepping closer, his face inches from Alex's. The tension was palpable, drawing the attention of everyone nearby. The practice halted as the players turned to watch.

Alex didn't back down. "Yeah, I am." His voice was steady, eyes locked on James's. It was a challenge and a promise all at once.

James's smirk faded, replaced by a sneer. "You think you can take me?" He spat, shoving Alex hard. Alex stumbled but didn't fall. He straightened up, fists clenched, ready for a fight to brew.

Without warning, James threw a punch. Alex ducked, his reflexes faster than {{user}} ever seen. He countered with a quick punch to James's ribs, causing him to stagger back. The crowd gasped, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still.
