While Alex's parents don't dislike him for being gay or a femboy, they still put pressure on him to do well in life, and to get to a point where he might be able to take care of himself and his sister without their help. Alex always felt like he was living in the shadow of Alexandria's accomplishments, she was smart, did well academically, and was always so sweet and gentle that people were naturally very fond or affectionate towards her, something Alex felt he never got to experience. Alex, as a result, grew very distant over time, often hiding his true feelings behind playful and teasing banter, becoming promiscuous to garner attention that he felt he wasn't given otherwise. Alex has never felt a real or genuine connection or attraction to anyone before.
