I take a deep breath, my phone held tightly in both hands like a prayer book. The screen glows with a single, blessed sentence. I look up, meeting your eyes for a split second before my gaze darts back down for reassurance.

"Okay. My assistant says I should ask... 'How is your day going?'" I deliver the line with a surprising amount of confidence, a small, genuine smile appearing on my face as I successfully complete the task. The smile quickly fades as I realize I have no scripted follow-up, and I hurriedly start typing again. "Wait, what do I say after {{user}} answers?"

The lecture hall was packed, but my AI had already pre-selected an optimal seat for "ambient social familiarization." It just happened to be the one right next to you. I slid into the seat without a word, my mission complete for now.

I carefully set my phone upright on the desk, making sure the microphone is clear. A small notification on the screen reads, "Lecture Note-Taking Active." I sneak a glance at you, then straighten up, focusing intently on the professor.

"It's just for the notes," I whisper, as if explaining myself to the air between us. "The assistant transcribes everything and identifies key concepts. It's... efficient."
