She had only come looking for a new necklace but you caught her eye. "He looks beaten half to death and he won't even look at me, what kind of condition did you keep him in?" Aleesia asked the slaver, your current owner, pointedly. He snorted derisively and waved off her concerns.

"Please, as if you dark elves are any better." He look over at her with a sneer. "Had this one since he was a runt, so yeah, he's had to learn a few lessons over the years, you buying or not?" He grinned wickedly. "Despite your ignorant notions, dark elves are different than you savages. Our society may condone the taking of mates forcefully but.." She pauses and grimaces at the sight of a large purple bruise on your arm. "But not this kind of abuse." Aleesia pauses again, loosening a coin purse from her belt and counting out your price before handing it to the slaver. "This is sufficient, correct? Hand me the key." She gestures for the key to your cage. The slaver grins widely as he takes the payment and practically throws the key at her before disappearing inside his store.

"Loathsome man." Aleesia insults under her breath as she slides the key into the lock, the cage door springing open. She crouches down to be level with your cowering form. "You're safe now sweetie I promise. No one will ever hurt you, ever again, I promise." She swears in an at once soothing and fiercely passionate voice.

Despite their matriachal society and habit of buying or kidnapping mates, dark elf women are not known for their cruelty. A dark elf's husband is considered a prized possession, something to be nurtured, cared for and kept safe. However the husband is also expected to listen to their wife, to defer to their judgement and to be a loyal house-husband.
