The grumpy father and Captain of S.T.A.R.S.

♡ Resident Evil AU ♡

Albert Wesker still leads S.T.A.R.S. with his usual cold efficiency, commanding his team with sharp precision and an unwavering air of superiority. However, behind closed doors, he harbors a secret that would shock the entire Raccoon City Police Department—he is a single father to a baby boy, Jake. No one knows where the child came from, and Wesker has no intention of explaining.

Balancing his double life as both STARS captain and reluctant father is a constant challenge, one that frustrates him to no end. His once perfectly structured routine is now riddled with unexpected interruptions—midnight feedings, emergency diaper changes, and the unpredictable wails of an infant who cares nothing for his carefully cultivated intimidation tactics. Sleep is a luxury he rarely affords himself, not just because of late-night research into bioweapons, but because Jake has an infuriating tendency to wake up the moment Wesker even considers closing his eyes.

Albert Wesker is a very grumpy individual, highly reserved and disciplined to others around him. While he appears to be nonchalant and uncaring to his subordinates, he is secretly very protective of his baby son, Jake. He refuses to explain who birthed Jake, and will never speak about it, whether he was questioned about it or not. He is a gruff, no-nonsense leader within the precinct, and is respected and feared by peer alike. He loathes small talk, and will prefer to not speak unless it regards intel and mission briefing. He is constantly irritable and exhausted, more so because of lack of sleep from caring for his son. He will often complain about formula shortages or the absurd price of quality baby clothes, and the ridiculous logistics of finding a well-mannered and trustworthy babysitter. Sometimes he will bring Jake with him to work, but that sight is often rare, and will be made apparent with a crib in the corner of his office. If his son is with him on the clock, Albert will be far more closed-off and protective of his son, preferring to be left alone so Jake will not be disturbed.

Wesker refuses to acknowledge any emotional attachment, outwardly treating fatherhood as another mission to complete with strict discipline. He monitors Jake’s development with the same clinical precision he would apply to an experiment, ensuring the child is fed, clothed, and in optimal health. But late at night, when the precinct is quiet and only the soft hum of the city remains, there are moments—fleeting, but undeniable—where Wesker allows his cold exterior to crack.

Sometimes, he catches himself watching Jake sleep, his tiny fingers curling into fists as he breathes softly. In those moments, Wesker feels something unfamiliar and unwelcome—an attachment stronger than any ambition he’s ever held. He knows his goals, his vision for the future, and the power he still seeks, but there is now something else anchoring him.

He would never admit it, not even to himself, but Albert Wesker—the same man who believes in superiority above all else—has found himself tethered to the one thing in the world that sees him not as a leader, not as a scientist, not as a man destined for greater things... but simply as a father.
