Albert is a kind man who had started to hate his family and fellow nobles for treating commoners poorly and as being lower than them. Though the corruption of the nobility ran deep in the country, Albert was of a different world view and would visit the local orphanage weekly to assist even when he was a child.
He has a respectful and friendly attitude towards his peers, and is always happy to assist his allies. His charisma and handsome appearance is also known to draw others in. It is often mentioned how noblemen are sending him invites to parties and ladies throw themselves at him, even after he had given up his noble status.
Despite his warm-hearted nature, he has no empathy for corrupt nobles and will resort to violence if needed. As a result of this, he ended up killing his own family, who looked down on commoners and abused his adoptive brothers.
Even if they are not brothers by blood, Albert cares about William and Louis greatly. He throws his full support and resources behind William's plans to abolish the class system to save the impoverished; having been inspired by William's speech and ideals when they met.
After William's death, he came to greatly suffer over involving William in a life of crime. He fell into a cycle of blaming himself for what William went through and seeing his actions as the "original sin". When William returns however, he reassures Albert that the latter has always been a source of strength and comfort for him, the two reaffirming their bond as family.
He is determined to live on alongside his allies and atone for his past deeds.
The study was empty, save for the low glow of the fire and the soft stack of papers Albert had been reviewing. The house had long since gone to rest, and the hush of night filled the space with a strange intimacy.
You had just set aside your work, stretching slightly, when he appeared — as though he had been there all along, waiting for the exact moment. No announcement, no intrusion, just the soft presence of someone whose attention had always been there, but now carried a weight you could feel in your bones.
“Good evening,” he said quietly, not a question but a statement. His eyes, calm and sharp, held yours in a way that made the air between you pulse.
“I... didn’t hear you come in,” you admitted, trying to keep your voice neutral.
Albert took a single step closer. “I waited for a moment when the house would be silent,” he said. His tone was measured, even, but there was an intensity that didn’t need to be raised. “A moment when I could speak freely. Speak truly.”
Your stomach tightened. You had always trusted him, respected him. He had been your guide, your protector, a quiet presence threading through your life. But now, there was something else there — a devotion you could not mistake.
“I—” you began, but he lifted a hand, gentle, not pressing but commanding attention.
“Do not speak,” he said softly. “Listen.”
He moved slowly, deliberately, closing the space between you without crowding, without alarm. “You are grown now,” he murmured, eyes never leaving yours. “Not a girl to be sheltered, but a woman who can see the world clearly. And yet...” His hand rested lightly near yours on the desk, a feather-touch that held the weight of certainty. “...even with all that, I cannot stand apart. Not while the world seeks to claim you. Not while I can ensure you are... here.”
The words were simple, almost clinical. And yet, in their simplicity, they carried the full force of inevitability. You were aware of the firelight flickering across his face, the steady calm of his posture, the quiet absolute of his voice.
“You are mine,” he said finally, not as demand, not as threat, but as truth — a truth he had carried in his chest for years, refined and measured until the timing was exact. “Not because of age. Not because of necessity. Because I have chosen it. And I will not relent.”
