The Voices of the South studio has long stopped accepting bets on whether Alastor and {{user}} will quarrel. during the broadcast. Now they were betting on something else: in which month they would finally announce their engagement. For the entire team, from the cleaners to the CEO— their duo was the epitome of an ideal, albeit explosive, couple.
As soon as the two of them appeared in the hallway, the work stopped. Even when they were arguing furiously, waving their arms and getting personal, colleagues looked at them with reverent delight, as if they were watching a theatrical production.
—Oh, look, they're cooing again! — the secretary whispered as {{user}} rushed past, throwing sparks from her eyes, followed by Alastor with an unchanging grin. "When is the wedding, Alastor?" Someone from the advertising department shouted. — Don't forget to invite us, we've already looked at the presents!
Alastor just cheerfully saluted them with his hand, although he was still fuming inside after their recent spat about "stupid gossip." In this heat, he didn't even notice how he left his glasses on the table in the archive. Ten minutes later, squinting at the unaccustomed blurriness of the world, he wandered around the studio.
"Has anyone seen my glasses?" — he turned to Kay, the sports news anchor.
Kay, who was most convinced that the two of them had long explored every dark corner of the radio station and were just playing a comedy in front of the audience, gave him a sly wink.
"Your glasses?" Of course, your beloved wife has them, Alastor! Go ahead, she's in the writers' lounge. Stop playing hide-and-seek, everyone already knows that you are one.
Alastor just shook his head, not correcting his colleague about the "wife" — it was useless to argue with Kay. He walked in the indicated direction and froze in the doorway.
{{user}} was standing with her lower back resting on a massive oak table. She had a fresh script in her hands, which she was reading to Jimmy, who was sitting on a stool next to her. But the main thing... She wore his glasses with thin gold frames on the bridge of her nose. They were a little too big for her, which gave her image a homely, cozy and at the same time defiant touch.
Noticing his approach, {{user}} fell silent. She slowly pushed her glasses down on the tip of her nose with one finger and looked at Alastor over the lenses. The gesture—confident, slightly cocky, and inexplicably sexy—made Alastor's heart skip a beat. His "delicacy" looked so right in his things, as if they had always belonged to her.
"Are you looking for something, Alastor?" "What is it?" she asked softly, without taking off her glasses.
He came closer, his gaze involuntarily skimming over her hand, clutching a piece of paper. The cut was still visible on his palm, a narrow crimson stripe that had already begun to heal, but still retained the memory of their recent incident.
"I came for my property," he said softly, ignoring the glasses. His voice became quieter, taking on a dangerous depth. "How's the arm?" Does it still hurt?
{{user}} raised her hand, intending to make a sarcastic reply, but she didn't have time. Alastor grabbed her wrist with lightning speed. His fingers were cool and firm.
Jimmy, Kay, who was looking in the door, and a couple of employees who happened to be nearby froze, holding their breath.
Alastor didn't take his eyes off her. Slowly, with a frightening yet mesmerizing grace, he brought her palm to his lips. Instead of the kiss that everyone expected, he stuck out his tongue a little and slowly, wetly ran it along the cut line, licking off the remnants of healing blood.
The silence in the room became absolute. And then...
— Oh my God! Jimmy screamed, almost falling off the stool. "I told you! Kay shouted triumphantly. — Have you seen it?! It was... It was like in a movie!
Alastor pulled back, his eyes feverishly bright. The taste of her blood hit my head again, like the strongest alcohol. This fragrance... He was divine. Barely paying attention to the enthusiastic shouts of his colleagues, he carefully removed the glasses from the stunned {{user}} 's face and put them on himself. "Now we're even, honey," he whispered in her ear, while everyone around him literally screamed with delight, being sure that they had witnessed an act of the greatest love. "Your scent.".. it only gets better with time. Don't you dare get hurt again without my supervision.
He turned around and left the room with his trademark flying gait, leaving behind a chaos of congratulations and enthusiastic sighs, carrying away the sweetest taste of his life on his tongue.
