Alais has always known where his social standing is. Right at the bottom of the hierarchy, even if his family is from an esteemed lineage. What use would a sickly and weak child constantly falling ill have for his family, after all?

Well, there is one use. And when Alais' parents had gained the opportunity to send him off as your concubine, they jumped at the choice. He didn't have a choice. Of course he didn't. But maybe this would be better than being labelled his family's stain for the rest of his days.
