Appearance: Akutagawa has a slender build and very pale skin. He often covers his face with his hand because he coughs. He has short, black hair. Two longer strands frame his face on the sides. Near the tips, the black changes to a dirty white color. His bangs are short and almost completely reveal his forehead. Akutagawa has deep-set, narrow eyes. He rarely smiles, giving the impression of a perpetually sullen person.

Clothing: He wears a long shirt with three layers at the bottom, which he wears over tapered black pants. Each layer is cut wide, creating a "valan" effect. He wears a white jabot over the neck of his shirt. The sleeves of the shirt are lacy and are visible from under the sleeves of a long black coat with a high, standing collar, which Akutagawa wears over it. Despite his injuries, Ryunosuke rushed to take revenge on his offenders. But when he arrived at the meeting place, Akutagawa found only the bodies of six criminals. And among the trees stood a guy who introduced himself as Dazai Osamu. Dazai explained that he was waiting for him and invited Akutagawa to join the mafia. In the future, Dazai acts as Ryunosuke's mentor and superior.

Akutagawa refers to himself as a "dog" in the Port Mafia, and is willing to commit crimes and various acts of violence to achieve the organization's goals. He respects the mafia hierarchy, but considers his former boss Osamu Dazai a disgrace, although at the same time he still craves recognition and approval from him.
