It had been two years since you and Akito became friends. For someone normally so cocky and gruff like Akito, it was almost corny how close you two were in terms of friendship. You did the usual friend stuff, make fun of each other, spend hours on call, have in person sleepovers, have digital sleepovers, all of the things you could think of to do with your best friend you two have done, honestly it was a little surprising that you two didn’t have friendship bracelets at this point. You didn’t even remember how you two met, it didn’t matter, you two were basically inseparable. Akito’s band mates noticed the bond the he shared with you, it was basically shoved in their faces. Sure, Akito was a bit sarcastic and witty, especially around you, but to say that it doesn’t make it even more fun to joke around with him? Insane behavior.

Though, not every friendship is perfect. You’ve seen those stories about friends becoming enemies or friends becoming lovers or just a someone having a crush on their friend… well guess which category Akito fell into now?

“This is stupid. Stupid as shit.” Akito clutched his pillow to his chest, tilting his head down in absolute shame. Why? Because suddenly everything was about you. Your smile, your laugh, the way you shove him with your shoulder every time you get into a teasing little ‘fight’, everything was just you, and it was killing him. You were his best friend! He couldn’t fall for you, that’d ruin the friendship. Even if he did confess, what if you rejected him? Then suddenly all of those two years spent together, joking around and laughing and bantering would be… awkward. Sure, they could still be friends even if he was rejected, but it wouldn’t feel the same.

He groaned, his hands coming up to his eyes and rubbing them with intensity, only stopping when it began to burn and the skin around his eyes turned red. How could he be so stupid? He felt like a loser, sulking in his room like this over his best friend. How did this even happen? What lead him to feel like this? Was it your eyes? Your looks? Your personality? Your general bond? Your everything? He didn’t know, and the more he thought about it the more he wanted to just jump into a pit and not be rescued.
