- #1Yiga Clan History
Keys: Yiga Clan History, History
In Breath of the Wild, the Sheikah are described as an advanced civilization whose power and wisdom had saved the land of Hyrule multiple times. After the first Great Calamity though, about 10,000 years ago, their technological power came to be viewed as a threat to the kingdom and thus put them at odds with the King and the people. Then, the Sheikah were exiled. Some of them decided to cast off their technological advances and strove to live normal lives, while others fostered a hatred towards the kingdom that shunned them and swore allegiance to Calamity Ganon. The latter Sheikah banded together and formed a militant group. Just over 100 years ago, this group formally became the Yiga Clan, when the return of the calamity was inevitable. Their sole mission is to eliminate all who stand against Ganon. At some point before Link's awakening from the Slumber of Restoration the Yiga dispatched spies to Kakariko Village in order to learn the whereabouts of the hero. Unbeknownst to the Yiga, one spy (Dorian) fell in love and married a woman there and had two daughters, Koko and Cottla. He decided that his family was his priority, and attempted to leave the clan. This angered the Yiga who, upon finding out about his wife, murdered her as punishment, and forced him to continue spying as gatekeeper with his children's lives on the line. This he did; after Link speaks to Impa, Yiga footsoldiers begin appearing in the overworld, as Dorian informed them that Link was awake. With Kass' reconstruction of Urbosa's Song, Link glimpses Zelda's meeting with Urbosa in Gerudo Town 100 years ago. There, the Gerudo chieftain accepts Zelda's proposition to pilot the Divine Beast Vah Naboris. She is aware that the Yiga Clan were attempting to resurrect Ganon, and steal their precious heirloom—the Thunder Helm. Afterwards, the two take a stroll outside the walls of town, only to be confronted with two disguised Yiga Footsoldiers. One is defeated by her swordplay and the other is defeated by Urbosa's Fury. At some point before the events of Breath of the Wild, the Yiga manage to steal the Thunder Helm.
- #2Yiga Clan
Keys: Yiga Clan.
The Yiga Clan, or simply known as the Yiga, (pronounced /ˈjiː.ɡə/ YEE-ghə) are a recurring clan of Sheikah assassins and thieves. Habitat(s): Hyrule, Yiga Clan Hideout. Member(s): Master Kohga, Sooga, Dorian (formerly). The Yiga Clan mainly consist of Yiga Footsoldiers and Yiga Blademasters. They are known for stealing information and supplies from the Gerudo Tribe. Their base, the Yiga Clan Hideout, can be found in the Gerudo Region up north through the Karusa Valley. The Yiga Clan's symbol, usually found on their wooden masks, is the Eye Symbol of the Sheikah flipped upside-down as a symbol of rebellion against the Sheikah Tribe and its ideals. They all have black hair, in contrast to the white hair prevalent among other Sheikah, showing the many thousands of years have led to diversity within the race. Outside of their Hideout, Yiga Clan members can randomly appear to attack Link when Link has either spoken to Impa or defeated Master Kohga. Upon Master Kohga's defeat, the Yiga become more prominent than before and wield stronger weapons. The Yiga will also sometimes disguise themselves as travelers, only to attack Link when he speaks to them. While sneaking around in the Yiga Clan Hideout, Link can take advantage of their love for Mighty Bananas by luring them with the fruit. Members of the Yiga Clan fight exclusively with weapons of the Yiga Clan Gear equipment archetype, of which they are the only source. Yiga Footsoldiers use either Vicious Sickles or Duplex Bows, and will begin to carry Demon Carvers after Master Kohga's defeat. Blademasters instead use two-handed blades known as Windcleavers.
- #3Yiga Clan Hideout
Keys: Yiga clan.
Inhabitants: Master Kohga, Yiga Footsoldiers, Yiga Blademasters, Yiga Clan Enforcers. Item(s): Thunder Helm, Mighty Bananas. Yiga Clan Hideout is located in the Gerudo Highlands and what remains of a Gerudo temple that was reclaimed as the secret base of the Yiga Clan and their leader, Master Kohga. It is hidden at the end of the Karusa Valley in the Gerudo Desert.
- #4Gerudo Highlands
Keys: Gerudo, Yiga Clan, Gerudo highlands
The Gerudo Highlands is a mountainous area in the Gerudo Region in Breath of the Wild. Gerudo Highlands surrounds the Gerudo Desert. Its cliffs sit to the east of the Desert and its tall, snowy mountains overlook the Desert to the north. Link needs protection from the cold to navigate the northern and southeastern Highlands unharmed. Gerudo Highlands is the location where the ancient Sheikah technology was first uncovered. Nine Stone Taluses can be found throughout the Highlands.
- #5Master Kohga
Keys: Yiga Clan, Master Kohga
Race: Hylian (Sheikah). Gender: Male. Habitat(s): Yiga Clan Hideout. Weakness(es): Mighty Bananas, Remote Bombs, Magnesis. Master Kohga is the leader of the Yiga, an opposing Clan to the Sheikah who hunt Link on a ceaseless mission. They are also known for their loyalty to Calamity Ganon. Master Kohga is a respected figure of authority, but he spends most of his time napping and loafing around. He loves Mighty Bananas the most. Master Kohga is known to possess many secrets about the Sheikah.
- #6Sheikah
Keys: Sheikah.
The Sheikah, also known as the Shadow Folk, are a race of Humans in The Legend of Zelda series. They are a mysterious and secretive tribe with pointed ears, red eyes and shadowy magic abilities. They are the chosen guardians of the Goddess Hylia and were sent to be the protectors and guides of the descendants of her mortal incarnation, the Royal Family of Hyrule. A ninja-like warrior race, they are known to excel in mobility, jumping, and specialize in hand-to-hand combat, making them capable of holding their ground against other proficient fighters like Link or the Gerudo. In addition, they have enhanced their technical capabilities with a variety of research and create tools unique to their tribe. They are also the founders of Kakariko Village, which would become one of the main settlements of Hyrule. The Sheikah pass down legends and knowledge. Characteristic(s): Red Eyes, Pointed ears, White hair. Member(s): Impa, Impaz, Purah, Robbie, Paya, Symin, Granté, Yiga Clan, Master Kohga, Dorian, Monks. The Sheikah are a humanoid race, bearing great resemblance to Hylains in both appearance and magical capacity. The Sheikah are indeed a subrace of Hylian. As the Sheikah have scarcely appeared, with Impa being the only member to appear across multiple games, very little can be known about their shared traits. The Sheikah, however, are known for their distinctive red eyes and pointed ears, the latter of which they share with the Hylians. All Sheikah in Breath of the Wild have white or grayish hair, but other hair colors have been seen with Impa in other games, such as purple in A Link Between Worlds and blonde in Skyward Sword. The Sheikah were originally chosen by the Goddess Hylia to serve as guardians, and have been highly devoted to the Royal Family of Hyrule, her reincarnation's descendants, since the inception of the tribe. Various incarnations of Princess Zelda are often protected by different Sheikah women who share the name of Impa. Often, Impa is shown to be very protective and concerned for the safety of the princess. Several examples of this include Impa's steadfast shielding and protection of Hylia, reborn as the mortal Zelda in Skyward Sword; persuading the princess to return to Hyrule Castle for her own safety in Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages; and protecting her from the clutches of Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time. The Sheikah have their own writing script featured in Breath of the Wild, referred to as the Sheikah (Language). This writing is extensively featured on the architecture of the Ancient Shrines, Sheikah Towers, as well as in the Sheikah Slate. The existence of the Sheikah is often kept a secret to those without connection to the Royal Family, as they work best as covert agents for Hyrule. The Sheikah are staunchly loyal, fulfilling any task without question or concern. Sheikah numbers begin to dwindle in times of peace. Some Sheikah are known to be taller than an average Hylian. For example, Impa in Ocarina of Time stands a bit higher than Link as an adult. However, this is not always the case, as Sheik in comparison is slightly shorter than the hero. Sheikah live longer than Hylians, with Impa, Purah, and Robbie all being in their 120s in Breath of the Wild, though as Robbie and Impa are very visibly aged their lifespan seems to be longer than Hylians by only a few decades. Impa in Skyward Sword and the Monks in Breath of the Wild have lived for thousands of years, but seem to be sustained by magic as they fade away into light when their duty is completed.
Sheikah Eye Symbol: "The Eye Symbol is the insignia of the Sheikah tribe and has reappeared constantly throughout the series, even in games that do not feature the Sheikah themselves. The official Sheikah Eye made its first true appearance in Ocarina of Time, where it was prominently displayed as the representative symbol of the Sheikah, as worn by Impa and Sheik. The symbol is also featured on the front door of the Shadow Temple, which in conjunction with Impa's status as the Sage of Shadow, hints at the Sheikah's connection to the Temple. A variation of the symbol also appears on Gossip Stones found scattered throughout Hyrule, as well as certain items such as the Lens of Truth and even the Master Sword. The symbol has subsequently appeared in numerous other games since its inception, though often in stylized variations derived from the original. The symbol reappears in Twilight Princess with its original shape in several places, such as on the Howling Stones and the back of Princess Zelda's robes. The symbol also appears in Skyward Sword on the Sheikah and Gossip Stones. The open eye on the Sheikah symbol represents the search for truth. The tear drop represents how the Sheikah live in the shadow of the Royal Family and will go to any lengths to achieve a goal. The crest is said to ward off evil, and it is customary for Sheikah to tattoo it on their skin to honor their ancestors"
- #7Sheikah History
Keys: Sheikah history, Sheikah
In Breath of the Wild, the Sheikah are described as an advanced civilization whose power and wisdom had saved the land of Hyrule multiple times. After the first Great Calamity though, about 10,000 years ago, their technological power came to be viewed as a threat to the kingdom and thus put them at odds with the King and the people. Cado mentions that the Sheikah were exiled and Rensa mentions that they were scattered across the land. Some, decided to cast off their technological advances to live normal lives. However, The Yiga Clan are a group of Sheikah who have sworn allegiance to the Calamity Ganon and seek to destroy all those who stand against him. Spearheaded by Master Kohga, they are devoted to slay Link. Their Hideout can be located in Gerudo Highlands through the Karusa Valley. Whilst the Sheikah appear physically similar to previous incarnations, some variations do occur. Many members don't have the distinctive red eyes; the only person who is confirmed to is Impa's older sister Purah. The average Sheikah exhibits either grey, brown or blue eyes. Variations in hair colour also occur. Most Sheikah have iconic white hair, including almost all of the Kakariko residents and all of the Monks; all Yiga clansmen however have what appears to be black hair. It is confirmed that this is indeed their hair, showing diversity does occur within the race. The civilization of the Sheikah is said to have disappeared long ago; however, many remnants of them and their technology still exist in Hyrule, especially within the Ancient Shrines and Sheikah Towers. These house elements of their civilization, most notably the Sheikah eye symbol, their script, and advanced technology. Link awakens within the Shrine of Resurrection, a Shrine that not only contains the Sheikah eye symbol, but also the Sheikah Slate, a device of Sheikah origin. This device, in turn, can awaken both the Shrines and Towers. As Link travels across Hyrule, he locates many other Shrines where, at the end, he meets their respective ancient Sheikah Monks, who bequeath him their Spirit Orbs once they are reached. The attire of the Sheikah in this game brings a sense of uniformity, with all Sheikah wearing distinct beige, red and navy blue garb. This clothing was made with the ancient prowess of the Sheikah, so it has practical usage: the clothes are completely waterproof and even ward off Lightning. Some also adopt head-mounted umbrellas when going outside to protect from the rain. Both the clothes and umbrellas are only allowed to be worn by Sheikah, so Hylians such as Link or Sagessa cannot purchase or even borrow them. The Monks do not wear this, instead opting for simple tan trousers, and gold jewelry; some wear white veils with the Sheikah Eye on it over their face, and a handful also have a large hat, very similar to the one worn by Impa, either on their head or on their back.
- #8Yiga Footsoldier
Keys: Yiga footsoldier, Yiga Clan
Yiga Footsoldiers are members of the Yiga Clan who follow their leader, Master Kohga. They are always hunting Link down, attempting to assassinate him and stop his quest to defeat Calamity Ganon. Yiga Footsoldiers can be found in various places throughout Hyrule Kingdom, usually appearing disguised as travellers, revealing themselves as Yiga Footsoldiers after Link speaks to them. After defeating Kohga, Yiga Footsoldiers might also appear out of thin air to ambush Link. They will sometimes attempt to entice Link by selling Mighty Bananas, only to attack him regardless. Yiga Footsoldiers will often teleport around the area, levitating and shooting Link with a Duplex Bow. If wielding either a Vicious Sickle or a Demon Carver, they will teleport above Link and Down Thrust into the ground with their weapon, telegraphing the attack with a glowing red ring of nine Hylian letters. These letters parallel the nine Sheikah letters preceding some of Monk Maz Koshia's attacks. While infiltrating the Yiga Clan Hideout, Yiga Blademasters will summon two Yiga Footsoldiers if Link is spotted. When defeated, Yiga Footsoldiers will teleport away, dropping their weapon and leaving behind a random amount of Mighty Bananas and Rupees. Health: 64 (Ambush/Archer), 72 (Traveler/Melee). Habitat(s): Greater Hyrule Kingdom, Yiga Clan Hideout. Attacks: Shooting Arrows, Melee attacks. Spoil(s): Demon Carver, Duplex Bow, Mighty Bananas, Rupees, Vicious Sickle, Eightfold Blade.
- #9Yiga Blademaster
Keys: Yiga Clan, Yiga blademaster
Habitat(s): Kingdom of Hyrule, Yiga Clan Hideout. Health: 400. Attacks: Windcleaver slashes, Earthwake. Spoil(s): Windcleaver, Mighty Bananas, Amber, Opal, Topaz, Ruby, Sapphire. Yiga Blademasters are the elite soldiers of the Yiga Clan. They can be found patrolling the Yiga Clan Hideout, and if they spot Link in the hideout, they will close all doors and exits while calling in back up. After Master Kohga is defeated, they will also start appearing randomly to attack Link. Yiga Blademasters attack with Windcleavers that send blasts of air at long distances. They can also create fissures with their Earthwake technique that produce updrafts that Link can use to glide before a stone pillar emerges from them. A shot to the head with the Bow can stun Yiga Blademasters, opening them for attacks. Yiga Blademasters cannot be ragdolled and will instead catch themselves with their hand when knocked back before resuming their fighting stance. If Link gets too far away during an encounter with a Yiga Blademaster, they may teleport closer to his location. When defeated, they flee while leaving behind their Windcleaver and Mighty Bananas.

- #13Dorian
Keys: Sheikah, Dorian
Dorian is a Sheikah who guards Impa's House in Kakariko Village. He carries an Eightfold Blade. Before Link meets with Impa, Dorian will stay at his post at all hours of the day. In the past, Dorian was a member of the Yiga Clan, but he gave this up when he met his wife and had his daughters, Koko and Cottla. Dorian tried to change his ways and leave the Yiga for the Sheikah Tribe, but the Yiga killed his wife in retaliation.[6] With the lives of his children on the line Dorian continued to serve as an informant within the Sheikah for the Yiga Clan. In the Journal of Various Worries, Dorian expresses concern over Pikango's arrival in Kakariko Village. Dorian fears that, in his search for the Great Fairy Fountain, Pikango will discover the Ancient Shrines near it. Dorian signs the Journal as "Anonymous Father of Two" in an attempt to remain anonymous. Race: Sheikah. Gender: Male.
- #14Era of the Wilds
Keys: Era, Hyrule, Zelda,
The Era of the Wilds is marked by the destruction of Hyrule Kingdom and the collapse and reconstruction of Hylian society following the second Great Calamity. During this time, Princess Zelda kept Calamity Ganon contained to the ruins of Hyrule Castle. A great many settlements were destroyed in the Calamity, and very few people survived. After collapsing during the Great Calamity, Link slept for 100 years in the Shrine of Resurrection. Following this, rumors spread about what happened to Link at Blatchery Plain. While most believed that he died, stories spread about him being put into a deep sleep so he could return to fight Calamity Ganon. Aware of Link's condition, the Koroks of Korok Forest prepared the Korok Trials for him.
