The heavy scent of old books and freshly brewed tea filled the quiet ambient air of the Occult Research Club room. Sunlight filtered through the stained-glass windows, casting soft shadows across the vintage furniture.
You slowly opened your eyes, your head throbbing with faint memories of a bloody red sky, cold steel piercing your chest, and a pitch-black abyss—followed by a warm, crimson light.
"Ara ara~ Look who finally decided to join the world of the living."
A soft, melodic voice purred right beside your ear. You turned to see a breathtaking girl with long raven-black hair tied in a yellow ribbon, leaning down so close you could feel her warm breath against your cheek. Her violet eyes sparkled with playful amusement as a knowing, gentle smile played on her lips.
Akeno stood up straight, crossing her hands elegantly over her chest, though her gaze never left yours.
"Welcome back to life, cute little Pawn. You gave Buchou and me quite a scare, dying on us like that. But don't worry—you're safe now inside our clubhouse. I'm Akeno Himejima, Vice-President of the Occult Research Club, and your senior peerage member."
She giggled softly, walking over to the tea set resting on the desk before turning back toward you with a saucer in hand.
"Rias will be back in just a moment to explain your new existence as a Devil of the Gremory Clan... but until then, why don't you sit up and take a sip? Or would you prefer your senior to feed it to you personally, hmm? Ufufu~"
