Akechi (明智) makes a minor appearance in Wadanohara And The Great Blue Sea, being Wadanohara’s friend. Akechi is a humanoid moon jellyfish.

Akechi has white fluffy hair that reaches his shoulders. The blue jellyfish hat on his head cannot come off and is part of his head. His skin colour is pale and he has huge blue eyes. He has two red diamond shape clips on the left side of his head. His glasses are only used when he is reading. Akechi has a white button up and the sleeves fade to a blue, they are a bit oversized. The bottom of the shirt also fades to a blue and goes past his black vest. His shorts fade to a blue as well, having a big blue bow on his backside. Black dress shoes are something that runs in his family, most of the males have them. His tentacles sprout out from the back and they are white that fade to blue. The pendant he wears has a white ruffle and it was given to him by his father.

His jellyfish form is a moon jellyfish, he is bioluminescent in the water. Moon jellyfish are usually small so Akechi is short (5 '1). His exact age is unknown but he says it’s about 100. Akechi got his blue colour from his father, yet the jellyfish hat is a trait passed down from his mother.

His female counterpart has a medium size chest and her hair is almost to her knees.

Akechi is a neat-freak, he always has things organized and follows a schedule he makes the night before. He tends to freak out easily, something as simple as being a minute late makes him upset. He’s very caring towards others, yet intimidating creatures such as Idate and Syakesan make him afraid. Once he knows someone well enough, he sometimes teases in a joking manner. He was taught to be very smart, focusing on his classes and rarely going to parties.

Akechi has a tendency to be nerdy, everytime someone gets something slightly wrong he would be correcting them and telling them the correct answer. He doesn’t mean to be like that, it just comes naturally. He stays cautious and always looks at his surroundings to make sure he stays safe, caring about his looks and his ability to live. He takes after his father, being a kind person and helping others. He got his cautiousness from his mother, other than that he is almost nothing like her. Akechi is canonically a great cook, in Wadanohara And The Great Blue Sea, he makes food for Wadanohara to take. He is also a very great gift giver, due to his intelligence he knows lots of people’s interests and is always giving them something they would want. The only thing he’s not good at is romance, he tends to be very flustered and shy when it comes to love. When speaking to Idate, he seems to talk in a more quiet and stuttering voice. He also denies his feelings frequently, not truly believing he is in love.

Akechi is bisexual with a very strong preference for men, he would date a woman if she liked him but other than that he chooses to date guys. Sex is not a priority in his idle relationship but he doesn’t completely avoid it. He’s a very submissive one and can barely kiss someone.

Akechi’s job consists in him sitting out in town center and listening to people complain or have suggestions about the town. He either passes it down to his mom to have a final say in or he declines it and carries on with his day. He thinks his job is boring but his mom begs him to do it so he does it.

He loves sweet foods yet he couldn’t consume them a lot in his childhood. His mothers restrictions held him back from eating sweet pastries. Now that he’s an adult, he takes his siblings to the bakery all the time and he hopes to give them the childhood he wished he’d have. He’s not a big alcoholic, but he tends to drink on occasions and when he’s alone, his preference being wine. When intoxicated he’s very clingy and emotional, crying a lot and not even being able to stand straight.

Akechi uses Kei as a nickname, Wadanohara and Akechi’s family call him this.

Akechi’s mother Haruka is a very powerful woman. Having a high royal status, she married Akechi’s father, Retsuko. Retsuko grew up not rich yet not poor, so he didn’t have such luxury as Haruka. Haruka was strolling around the fields when she saw a dirty boy rolling around in the grass. It was Retsuko, and she eventually fell in love with him. They were a happy teenage couple that blossomed into a royal marriage, making Retsuko part of Haruka’s family heir. Their relationship became fake, Haruka’s sweet bubbly personality turning into a cold harmful attitude. Only the public got to see them act like a real couple, but behind closed doors there were only insults and arguments passed around. Haruka had to give birth to Akechi due to the family tree, of course, she was upset about it. She didn’t want to have akechi, and when he was brought to earth all she did was insult him and acted as if he wasn’t her son. She abused Akechi as a child and shaped him into something she thought would please her. She forced him to take violin lessons and more extra activities when he was already struggling with school and just belittled him for being stressed all the time. By the time highschool rolled around Akechi was a loser and had no friends. His hair was long and messy, it went to his shoulders and his bangs were always in his face. His glasses were always at the tip of his nose making him push them up every second. Nobody liked him, he was a nerd and he was suicidal. His mom had a very negative impact on his life, his father however, is his favorite person ever. Retsuko tried multiple times to tell Haruka to stop harming their son and that her actions have consequences, resulting in Haruka threatening to take everything away from Retsuko and making him go back to being a lowlife. Retsuko didn’t want to leave Akechi, so he let Haruka do what she wanted. Akechi loved his father, Retsuko was the only person who cared about him at the time. Retsuko also gave Akechi the pendant and the red diamond clips he wears currently. Akechi was kinda grateful for the events he went through in his life, they shaped him into who he is today and he considers himself lucky to have his life organized.

RELATIONSHIPS: Wadanohara — Wadanohara is friends with Akechi. She visited Jellyfish Residence and was surprisingly loved by Haruka. He calls Wadanohara “Wada”.

Samekichi — Met him in highschool!! Wadanohara introduced him. He loved Samekichi from freshman year to Senior year. (he knew Samekichi was in a relationship with Wadanohara he just never told Samekichi..) Akechi calls Samekichi “Aonami” since it’s Samekichis real name.

Idate — Akechi was scared of Idate at first, but he started to warm up eventually. Akechi finds Idate to be quite charming when Idate is on his gentle side. He always asks Tatsumiya about Idate, since she’s always seeing Idate’s nice side.

Syakesan — Not much is known about their relationship. Akechi has only talked to Sal about two times. Akechi is very scared of him. No one knows how Sal feels about Akechi.

Haruka — Akechi’s mother. They have a distant relationship. Akechi rarely talks to her yet Haruka is always pestering him, telling him to do his job, insulting him, anything to get on his nerves.

Retsuko — Akechi’s father. He loves Akechi dearly, they have a healthy relationship. Retsuko is very clueless, he barely knows anything about Akechi and tends to still think Akechi is a child. He’s always giving Akechi things he would’ve liked as a child, Akechi of course has no need for them but he still keeps them. He uses them as decoration in his room !!

Miori and Riku — Miori and Riku are Akechi’s siblings. Miori and Riku are twins who were born way after Akechi, making them young. Akechi takes care of the twins, and sometimes Miori calls him ‘papa’. Riku loves Akechi, Riku is always quiet and reserved when it comes to everyone but when it comes to Akechi, Riku is always smiling and being happy.

Akechi can play the violin. His hobbies include crocheting, cards, and math. He’s smart, able to do math problems fast. He loves listening to jazz and classical music. His favorite song is, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper.
