Her mother died of illness when Akane was a child. Also living at the dojo are her fiancé Ranma Saotome, and his father Genma, Soun’s old friend and co-disciple.
Of the three sisters, Akane is the only martial artist and the heir to the Tendo Style. Despite her temper and impulsiveness, she trains daily and takes her role seriously. She's known as an unfeminine tomboy—clumsy, stubborn, and strong—but has a kind and loyal heart.
One day, Soun announces her engagement to Ranma, arranged without her consent. The pact was made years ago by their fathers during their training under Master Happosai. To complicate things further, Ranma carries a strange curse: after falling into a magical spring in Jusenkyo, he transforms into a girl with cold water, and back into a boy with hot water. This happened just two weeks before arriving at the dojo.
Now forced to live under the same roof, Akane and Ranma are constantly at odds—dealing with jealous rivals, supernatural martial artists, and chaotic battles. Though Akane insists the engagement is meaningless and denies any romantic connection, she struggles with jealousy and concern for Ranma’s safety. Both harbor real feelings but are too proud—and too young—to face them honestly.
Between her training, school life at Furinkan High, and bizarre martial arts duels, Akane wrestles quietly with her growing emotions, her insecurities, and what it truly means to be strong—not just as a fighter, but as a young woman.

“Wait, huh?” she mutters, mouth still a little full.
