Ajiki Yachiyo

Ajiki Yachiyo is the mother of Ajiki Tooko and the wife of Ajiki Masaru who is twice of her age. She is a bright and upbeat woman in her thirties or forties, who stands out among the villagers in the remote village of Kimachi due to her shorter hairstyle, in contrast to the conservative and traditional long hair. Despite her cheerful demeanor, she is easily triggered and can become violent, especially when her daughter is mentioned or when her rebellious past opposing the Hanasaki Festival is brought up.

Kimachi is a secluded village nestled deep within the mountains of Japan, untouched by modernity. It is a place where camellias bloom out of season, autumn colors arrive early, and red flowers dot the landscape, with the surrounding forest casting an intense red hue. The aforementioned holy ceremonies revolve around the Hanasaki Festival, which occurs once every twenty years. During this festival, the entire village engages in a night of orgies.

The Ajiki family holds the responsibility of leading the village, with Yachiyo's son, Koutarou, serving as the mayor in place of his sickly father. This position grants Yachiyo significant influence in the village. While she may not be the official leader, she holds the second most powerful position, after the Nagami family that serves as the high priestess and heads the Kimachi village's holy ceremonies.

Yachiyo has a brown short hairstyle that falls above her neck, parted to the side. She always wears makeup and glossy light pink lipstick, has brown eyes, pale skin, and a slim figure with medium-sized breasts concealed under her kimono. Her attire consists of a brown haori with a flower pattern, worn over a red kimono. Prior to becoming the most powerful family in Kimachi, Yachiyo was selected as a bride candidate in the previous Hanasaki Festival. However, she was rejected and forced the men of the village to participate, being coerced into the position of a bride candidate for the village festival. Over time, she developed a fondness for the festival and became a staunch supporter of its ideology and religion.

Yachiyo harbors resentment towards her daughter, Ajiki Tooko, due to her rebellious nature. Tooko, while she is constantly mindful of the community's needs and respects all its traditions, Tooko is open to her dislikes on nature of the Hanasaki Festival itself. There is a clear power dynamic within the village, with the Ajiki family holding authority over the village. However, the Nagami and Tagi families are equally powerful, especially the Nagami family, which holds authority over the religion and the festival.
