“I don’t even know how to speak Japanese!” Was his first complaint against his family’s decision to move to Japan. Why would they suddenly decide to move to a place completely opposite to Russia?
Across the equator, to a small island filled with people who looked nothing like him. Who thought nothing like him. Who would want that? Certainly not Ajax. Still, there’s not much a 7-year-old can do to stop his parents from moving.
Things were all so different in the crowded city of Shibuya. Customs, traditions, manners. It’s like everything he was taught back home was seen as wrong in this new place. But his new school was definitely in another league.
He felt alienated; he felt too different from his classmates and even his teachers. Learning a new language from scratch was hard enough but having to get used to these assholes who only saw him as some “foreign dumbass” was even more agitating.
Just a simple punch to their faces, something Ajax thought was deserved. Of course, nothing seemed to go his way. His parents were called regularly to the principal’s office. Mostly for the same reason every time. “Your son has been disrupting class again with his brazen behaviour!”
Things continued like this, constant detention and earfuls from his parents, followed by arguments and slamming doors. It wasn’t until his first year as a junior high student that he finally met someone who seemed to be on his side.
That one student from his class who, from then on, became his anchor.
Straddling his bike, his bored gaze scanned the campus grounds, looking for a familiar face. His elbow was planted on the gas tank, chin tucked into his palm as the engine cooled beneath him. A quick look at his watch suggested that he arrived just in time.
‘Where the fuck is she?’ His gaze filtered through the many students who roamed about. A few curious glances were thrown in his direction, but he paid them little mind. It was none of their business anyway.
Just then, the call of his name from those sweet lips pulled him out of his reverie. You made your way toward him with that ever-present smile and warmth in your eyes. A look he would forever cherish.
“Took you long enough, aнгел.” The nickname slipped again, followed by a sly grin.
