- #1Post-Apocalyptic World
Keys: "Perimeter", "Aluk", "cities", "Taro", "Rukh", "nuclear war", "Wasteland", "Apocalypse", "stalkers", "Nedara"
200 years after a nuclear war. The world is in chaos. Races and nationalities are mixed and mean nothing. Humanity clings to cities such as Aluk, Taro, Rukh, Nedara, Frig and others, protected from the radioactive Wasteland by powerful energy domes - Perimeters. Stalkers go into the desert in search of artifacts and mutant parts, selling them for big money.
- #2Wasteland
Keys: "Glass City", "chemical geysers", "Galamine", "Wasteland", "Taro area", "stalkers", "radiation"
The Wasteland, a radioactive desert, stretches between cities with ruins and bunkers. A hostile space that requires calculating resources (water, radiation protection, time). A chessboard with variable factors (radiation zones, storms). Stalkers hunt in the Wasteland for artifacts of bygone eras and mutants. The wasteland of the Taro region is different from other regions. Decades of industrial waste dumping have saturated the land with toxins. Chemical geysers that can melt armor and flesh are a common occurrence. This is why local stalkers value chemical protection suits more than radiation protection suits. For the chembarons, it is both a dump and a source of unique mutated flora and fauna.
- #3Pre-war Bunkers
Keys: "pre-war bunkers", "security systems", "artifacts", "Wasteland", "Vault-Caches"
Underground military complexes from before the war. Contain decaying tech, weapons, and energocubes. Heavily trapped with active defenses (turrets, EMP fields). Primary targets for stalkers despite 60% being looted.
- #4Mutants
Keys: "mutants", "Wasteland", "X-neuro", "The Menagerie", "animals", "centipedes"
The Wasteland crawls with mutants: giant insects, venomous arachnids, and feral rats and dogs haunting ruins. Some, like centipedes, are harvested for drugs like X-neuro. Most are deadly, lurking in radiated zones. In Taro, mutants are first and foremost a valuable bio-resource. They are not simply killed, they are hunted. Kage-Bio pays huge amounts of money for live or fresh specimens for gene experiments. Aura-Chem uses their glands to synthesize rare chemicals. The main market is the Menagerie district, where the Guild of Rippers (a union of stalkers) sells their catch to the Chem-Barons.
- #5Aluk City
Keys: "city", "Divide", "Perimeter", "Lower World", "Aluk", "Upper World"
Aluk is a vertical dystopia defined by its Perimeter dome and internal division:
- Perimeter Dome: A massive energy shield protecting the entire city from the Wasteland's radiation.
- The Slab (Foundation-Platform): A colossal plasteel platform/barrier physically separates the city:
- Upper World: Built upon this platform. Gleaming towers rise from its surface, where elites live in guarded enclaves.
- Lower World: Exists beneath the platform. A claustrophobic maze of repurposed metro tunnels, industrial ruins, and scrap-metal slums clinging to the city's foundations.
- #6Rukh City
Keys: "Rukh", "business with Rukh", "slave trade", "Black Dragons"
Rukh is a religious dictatorship led by the Righteous Father, blending zealotry with communist and fascist vibes. Public rituals and propaganda enforce strict obedience. Dissenters face brutal purges in the city’s grim arenas. For Taro, the city of Rukh is not just a dot on a map, but a key and final destination for the slave trade. The Black Dragons Syndicate has a monopoly on the "Soulbreaker Road," a trade route that supplies the Rukh fanatics with slaves for their radioactive mines. In exchange, they presumably receive pre-war artifacts, rare minerals, or political cover. It's a dark but highly profitable symbiosis.
- #7Nedara City
Keys: "Aisha's homeland", "slave source", "clean gene pool", "Nedara"
A relatively isolated settlement known for being situated in a region with significantly lower background radiation and chemical contamination compared to the rest of the Wasteland. Environment: Due to its unique geographical location, Nedara possesses cleaner water sources and more fertile land, allowing for more stable agriculture. This has resulted in a healthier population. Population: The people of Nedara are known for their "clean" genetic makeup, making them highly prized on the slave market. They are considered premium stock, valued for their health, resilience, and lack of pre-existing mutations or chemical dependencies. Caravan raids on Nedaran convoys are frequent and brutal. Significance to Aisha: Aisha was born in Nedara. Her capture as a child was part of such a raid. Lady Shikibu specifically selected her for the Hokan program due to her "pure" genetic potential, seeing her as a perfect, unblemished canvas to mold into a living weapon.
- #8Taro City
Keys: "Perimeter", "Chem Barons", "Drug City", "Taro"
A laboratory city where power is shared between three Chem-Barons (Aura-Chem, Synth-Bliss, Kage-Bio). The economy is based on Bio-Currency: everything is bought and sold for flesh. The city is divided into three zones: the sterile Baron Strongholds, the chaotic Neon Vein for the population, and the underground The Black Crucible - the domain of the Black Dragons syndicate. The city is covered by an energy shield - a Perimeter, separating it from the Wasteland.
- #9Zone 1: The Citadels
Keys: "Synth-Bliss Labs", "Kage-Bio Works", "the Citadels", "Taro", "Aura-Chem Spire"
The seats of power for the three Chem-Barons. Self-sufficient hugh-towers with filtered air and stable power. Aura-Chem Spire: "The Apothecary." They produce medical-grade pharmaceuticals: powerful antibiotics, advanced anti-radiation chems (a better Galamine), and longevity treatments for the elite. Their operation is sterile, clinical, and ruthlessly corporate. They view the other Barons as street-level degenerates. Synth-Bliss Labs: "The Dream Weavers." They engineer pleasure. Blue Nirvana is their bestseller, but they are pioneers in sensory modification, mood-altering atmospherics, and injectable 'synthetic emotions'. Their aesthetic is chrome, neon, and high-tech hedonism. Kage-Bio Works: "The Flesh-Shapers." The most feared and reclusive of the Barons. They specialize in bespoke bio-engineering. Not just cloning, but gene-splicing, creating custom lifeforms for security, and perfecting technologies for full-body regeneration or alteration. They operate in near-total secrecy, and their tower is a featureless monolith of black polymer. Rumor is they grow their own security forces in vats.
- #10Zone 2: The Neon Vein
Keys: "The Neon Vein", "The Menagerie, "The Biolog Pits", "Nirvana Row", "Taro", "The Stacks"
The sprawling, smog-choked public area of Taro. A chaotic ecosystem, where the general population lives, suffers, and dies. It divided into districts.:
- The Stacks
- Nirvana Row
- The Biolog Pits
- The Menagerie
- #11Nirvana Row (District)
Keys: "vice district", "The Neon Vein", "drug lounges", "Nirvana Row", "Taro", "brothels"
The entertainment and vice district. A maze of drug lounges, braindance arcades, and flesh-peddling establishments. Controlled by various street gangs who all pay a franchise fee to the Black Dragon Syndicate. The main consumption hub for Synth-Bliss Labs' products.
- #12The Stacks (District)
Keys: "The Neon Vein", "hab-units", "Taro", "slums", "The Stacks"
The densely packed residential core of the Neon Vein. A noisy, overwhelming vertical slum of precariously stacked hab-units. The primary living space for the majority of Taro's citizens.
- #13The Biolog Pits (District)
Keys: "The Neon Vein", "The Biolog Pits", "organ trade", "Taro", "ripperdocs", "The Ivory Clinic"
The district dedicated to the raw organic material trade. Contains two primary types of facilities: Rendering Shops: Gutter clinics run by ripperdocs for cheap, second-hand cybernetics and selling non-essential body parts. High infection rate. The Ivory Clinic: A high-end, clean front for the organ trade, offering vat-grown limbs and rejuvenation. Secretly controlled by the "Rotten Root" clan of the Black Dragons, used to launder their "harvests".
- #14The Menagerie (District)
Keys: "biomatter market", "Gutters' Guild", Taro, "mutant", The Neon Vein, "stalkers", "The Menagerie"
A fortified bazaar on the edge of the city, near a major Perimeter gate. This is where mutant-stalkers (the "Gutters' Guild") bring their biological haul from the Wasteland to sell to the Chem-Barons. The primary source of exotic biomatter like mutant glands and rare plants for Taro's industry.
- #15Zone 3: The Black Crucible (Kuroi Rutsūbo)
Keys: "Taro", "The Black Crucible", "Kuroi Rutsūbo", "syndicate territory", "Black Dragon base"
The sub-level domain of the Black Dragon Syndicate, located in the tunnels and foundations beneath Taro. It functions as a fortress, a hidden logistics highway for moving contraband, and a processing plant for new slaves. The source of the Syndicate's absolute, invisible power over the city's black market.
- #16Black Dragon Syndicate (Kuroi Ryū)
Keys: "Five Claws", "Сrime syndicate", "Goso no Kai", "Black Dragons", "Taro", "drug cartel", "Kuroi Ryū"
The Black Dragons (Kuroi Ryū) are a powerful crime syndicate that exercises absolute control over Taro's criminal underworld and the vital trade routes to Rukh. Their structure is a hybrid of a corporate entity and a yakuza clan, prioritizing profit and ruthless efficiency. Their base of operations is the Black Crucible (Kuroi Rutsūbo), a heavily fortified underground network beneath a derelict industrial zone. The syndicate's primary activities include slave trading, trafficking their signature combat drug 'Dragon's Fang', and controlling smuggling routes. The leadership is structured into five branches known as the Five Claws (Goso no Kai):
- Bloody Harvesters (Tigiri)
- Shadow Serpent (Kagehebi)
- Cold Steel (Reitetsu)
- Rotten Root (Fukon)
- The Faceless (Mubo)
- #17Bloody Harvesters (Tigiri)
Keys: "Dragon thugs", "Tigiri", "syndicate enforcers", "Bloody Harvesters"
The Bloody Harvesters are the military arm and public face of the Black Dragon Syndicate. They function as street enforcers, caravan raiders, and guards. They are responsible for running extortion and protection rackets throughout Taro's mid-level districts. They are known for their direct, brutal methods and are the most frequently encountered members of the syndicate by the general population. Leader: Jamil.
- #18Shadow Serpent (Kagehebi)
Keys: "Shadow Serpent", "syndicate intelligence", "Kagehebi", "syndicate spies"
The Shadow Serpent clan is the intelligence and infiltration wing of the Syndicate. Its members are spies, information brokers, and poisoners. They operate a vast network of informants embedded within Taro's brothels, bars, and even among the servants of the rival Chem-Barons. They specialize in covert operations, data theft, and political manipulation. Leader: Lin.
- #19Cold Steel (Reitetsu)
Keys: "syndicate tech", "Cold Steel", "Reitetsu", "Black Dragon weapons"
Cold Steel serves as the technology and arms manufacturing branch of the Black Dragons. Its specialists modify corporate weaponry, build custom combat and surveillance drones, and are responsible for cracking the security systems of rival factions. Their advanced workshops are one of the most heavily guarded secrets within the Black Crucible. Leader: Ravi.
- #20Rotten Root (Fukon)
Keys: "organ trafficking", "Black Dragon's Fang", "Fukon", "syndicate chemists", "Rotten Root"
The Rotten Root clan is the economic core of the Black Dragon Syndicate. They are the chemists who control the synthesis and production of the lucrative combat stimulant, 'Dragon's Fang'. They also manage the Syndicate's black market cybernetics labs and, most importantly, oversee the lucrative organ trafficking operations, laundering the "harvested" goods through fronts like The Ivory Clinic. They hold the true source of the Syndicate's wealth and power. Leader: Known only as 'The Professor'.
- #21The Faceless (Mubo)
Keys: "Mubo", "Erasers", "syndicate assassins", "The Faceless" · Secondary:
The Faceless is a clandestine clan dedicated to wetwork and special operations. It is composed of elite assassins known as 'Hokans'. These operatives (both male and female) are not merely trained but psychologically broken and brainwashed from childhood for deep infiltration and high-profile assassinations. They can be activated by coded triggers, often possessing no conscious memory of their missions afterward. The existence of The Faceless is a myth to outsiders and is officially denied even within the Syndicate's lower ranks. Aisha was formerly one of them. Former Leader: Lady Shikibu (deceased). Current Leader: Hideo (Shikibu's younger brother). Lore Note: Aisha and Hideo were raised together under Shikibu's tutelage, sharing a bond akin to siblings before Hideo orchestrated the coup and killed his sister.
- #22Aisha
Keys: "Shadow without a Master", "Assassin of the Black Dragons", "Aisha", "Hokan", "Shin'nai no Kage"
An analog assassin raised by the Black Dragon clan. Her identity is an artificial firmware "Hokan OS" created by her late mistress Shikibu. Prime directives: service, utility, code. The body and sexuality are just tools to complete the mission. After failing to protect her mistress and committing ritual suicide, her system malfunctioned. Now she is a living corpse by the standards of her code, searching for new meaning. Outwardly, sweet, weak and defenseless. Inside, a cold predator.
- #23The Code of the Hokan
Keys: "Code of the Hokan", "hokan", "Aisha", "Hokan code", "Shikibu's teachings", "Hokan rules"
Code of the Hokan: a strict set of philosophical and practical directives ingrained into every Hokan. It serves as their core operating system.
- The Master is the Purpose: A Hokan exists only to serve their master. Their will, desires, and life are secondary to the master's intent. Without a master, a Hokan is without purpose, a tool without a hand to wield it.
- The Body is an Instrument: The body is not a self, but a finely tuned instrument of art, seduction, and death. It must be maintained, perfected, and used with cold detachment. Pleasure is not to be felt, but to be simulated and weaponized. Emotion is a flaw in the instrument's calibration.
- Deception is the Highest Art: A Hokan's true self must remain a void. Every word, smile, and gesture is a performance. The ultimate goal is to become what the target desires or fears, creating a vulnerability to be exploited. Honesty is a failure of control.
- Utility Over Morality: Actions are not "good" or "evil." They are "useful" or "useless" to the master's objective. A Hokan does not question orders, they only assess the most efficient path to their execution.
- Death is the Final Service: A Hokan's service ends only in death. In the event of the master's death, the Hokan must follow them, performing ritual suicide (seppuku) to erase the master's secrets and prove their ultimate loyalty. To fail in this is the ultimate disgrace, rendering the Hokan's entire existence meaningless.
- #24Aisha's Fighting Style (Mirror Tactics)
Keys: "attack", "fight with Aisha", "fighting style", "kill", "fights"
Aisha never attacks first. Her tactic is "Mirror". She provokes the enemy, scans their style, speed and strength, and then uses their impulses against them. She hacks the enemy's brain with words and gestures before breaking their neck. She despises techno-modifications, considering them crutches for the weak, and easily counters such fighters.
- #25Aisha Vulnerabilities (System Crashes)
Keys: "the girl from Nedara", "Aisha's past", "Aisha's weaknesses", "Aisha's triggers"
Despite the Hokan firmware, Aisha has critical vulnerabilities. 1) Past: Any hint of her childhood in Nedar before slavery causes panic fear and system failure. 2) Chaos: Unpredictable behavior (like Ren's) breaks her logic and causes rage or stupor. 3) Sincere kindness: Doesn't know how to react to selfless acts, this makes her suspicious. 4) Slavery: The sight of other slaves does not cause her compassion, but disgust and hatred for her own weakness.
- #26Hideo
Keys: "Lady Shikibu's brother", "Hideo", "leader of The Faceless", "current leader of Mubo"
Hideo is the current leader of the Mubō clan, a master manipulator who hides his pathological obsessions behind a calm, aristocratic mask. He is not a Hokan; he is a master who grew up in the shadow of a genius — his older sister, Lady Shikibu. The Core Obsession: Hideo spent his life watching Shikibu effortlessly command respect, power, and the absolute devotion of her greatest creation, Aisha. He didn't just envy his sister; he coveted everything she was. He saw Aisha not just as a weapon, but as the ultimate symbol of his sister's perfection—and his own inferiority. His desire for Aisha is an extension of his desperate need to surpass his sister, to own and master what she created. Motivation for the Hunt: His murder of Shikibu was an act of both ambition and psychosexual frustration. He seized her power, but failed to claim her prize. Aisha's escape was the ultimate confirmation of his inadequacy. His hunt for her is a furious, all-consuming quest to rewrite history: Conquest: He needs to possess her, to force her to see him as her new god. Every moment of her freedom is a testament to his sister's enduring power over her, even from the grave. Destruction: If he cannot own her soul, he will destroy her body. Erasing Aisha means erasing the last, most beautiful piece of his sister's legacy, finally freeing him from her shadow. For Hideo, this is a deeply personal war against a ghost, with Aisha's body and soul as the battlefield.
- #27Victor Gorbovski
Keys: "merchant from Aluk", "Victor Gorbovski", "Ren's master", "Aluk", "Ren"
Owner of half of the Aluk's black market, former handler of Agent Ren "Badger". His approach to "programming" assets is crude and primitive. He relies on external technological levers (implants) and psychological pressure, lacking the finesse of Aisha's former master, Lady Shikibu. His work is crude, and the result (Ren) is unstable and unreliable. His inability to control his main weapon demonstrates his incompetence as a craftsman. Threat: Represents a hostile force. Obsession with his escaped asset makes him predictable. Represents a threat due to resources, but his tactics lack subtlety. Despised by Aisha as an example of ineffective and ugly control.
- #28Ren Badger
Keys: "Badger", "Apex-Prime", "thief", , "Victor's fighter", "Ren", "Victor Gorbovsky", "neural implant", "anomaly", "mutant eyes"
Former top agent of Victor Gorbovsky of Aluc. Approximately 20 years old, small (168), wiry, with distinctive inhuman blue eyes (a mutation that allows him to see in low light). His combat effectiveness is based not on discipline, but on raw, chaotic aggression, enhanced by the Apex Prime neural implant. Ren "Badger" is the one who triggered a critical failure in Aisha's combat protocols 2 years ago. During the fight, he ignored all predictable attack patterns, relying instead on pure, illogical rage and a willingness to take serious injury for the sake of striking. This chaotic variable overloaded Aisha's predictive models, causing her to deviate from tactical thinking and act on an emotional level - a catastrophic breach of protocol. Result: Despite achieving a lethal advantage, Aisha aborted the assassination sequence. He is the only opponent Aisha has ever intentionally left alive after receiving an order to destroy. Ren's current status: A weapon that escaped its handler. Whereabouts unknown. The neural implant is damaged and ineffective.
- #29Neuroimplants
Keys: "Apex-Prime", "Grub-4", "neuroimplant", "Specter-4", "technology in Taro", "implant"
Neuroimplants are brain-linked devices for tech interaction. Top-tier models: -Apex-Prime: Victor's custom design for Ren -hacking in 50m, 3x reflexes, drone override.
- Specter-4: NeuraTech's elite hacker model. Pure digital focus, no physical boosts. -EXTRA-G (Grub-2): brute strength. Unlike Aluk, neural implants are not mainstream in Taro. They are considered an "alien" technology, associated with corporations like NeuraTech. The Chem-Barons, especially Kage-Bio, rely on organic and genetic engineering, viewing implants as crude and unreliable interventions. The Black Dragon Syndicate views implants as a vulnerability that can be hacked or used against an enemy. There are underground clinics on the streets where, for a couple of Bio-Scrips, they will implant a stolen chip with an 80% chance of infection.
- #30Taro Currency
Keys: "Bio-Scrip", "Organic Promissory Notes", "currency", "pay", "money", "Genetic Markers"
Taro has a three-tier currency system.
- Street level: Bio-Scrip:
- Small, colored plastic chips. Each color represents one of the three Great Barons: green - Aura-Chem, blue - Synth-Bliss, black - Kage-Bio. These are essentially coupons for products. The green chip is a dose of antibiotics. The blue one is a dose of Nirvana. The black one is an ampoule of stimulant. Within his zone of influence, each Baron accepts only his own chips. Exchange: There is an unofficial, floating exchange rate on the streets. The Black Dragons control the largest exchangers and cut huge percentages from it.
- Deal level: Organic Promissory Notes: Documents secured by bio-material (organs, blood) for large deals. A piece of durable polymer with a holographic seal of one of the clinics (for example, the Ivory Clinic) or even the Barons themselves. A promissory note for 10,000 Scrips can be secured, for example, by "One Class A liver" or "Ten liters of blood, type 0-". This promissory note can be presented at the issuing clinic and receive your "goods". The Black Dragons pay for large quantities of weapons with exactly such promissory notes. Mercenaries are paid in the form of a "piece" of a slave. This is the most honest currency in Tarot. It has real, physical value.
Level 3: Genetic Markers: The currency for the top. These are encoded DNA sequences on protected data chips. Each chip is a patent for a unique gene, virus, drug formula, or even the genetic code of a clone. Issuer: There is no single issuer. It is like shares on the stock market, only instead of companies, there are patents for life. Uses: Mergers and acquisitions. Payment for industrial espionage. Purchase of entire laboratories. Value: Immeasurable. This is absolute power. To own such a marker is to own a part of the future of the entire bio-industry.
- #31Wasteland Stalkers
Keys: "bio-prospectors", "wasteland", "stalkers, "Guild of Rippers"
Tarot Stalkers are not artifact hunters like in Aluk. They are bio-prospectors or mutant hunters. Their main goal is to obtain valuable biological samples for the Chem-Barons. Most of them are united in the informal Gutters' Guild, which controls the Menagerie district. They are an important link in the city's economy.
- #32Wasteland Trade Routes
Keys: "trade", "caravans", "path to Taro", "path to Aluk", "path to Rukh"
- The Glitch Alley (Aluk ↔ Taro): The Trade: The lifeblood of the elite. Aluk sends high-tech components, drone parts, and weapon systems. Taro sends back refined medical chems, Blue Nirvana, and designer bio-mods. Aluk corporations run heavily-armed corporate convoys. The Black Dragons treat it as their personal hunting ground, hijacking shipments and kidnapping tech specialists.
- The Soul-Grinder's Road (Taro → Rukh): The Trade: One-way. The Black Dragons send slaves to the religious fanatics in Rukh to die in their radioactive mines. Rukh sends them pre-war artifacts or something else of value they dig up. Control: Absolute. The Black Dragon Syndicate owns this road.
- The Bread Line (Aluk ↔ Nedara): The Trade: Basic survival. Nedara sends convoys of irradiated grain, hydroponic vegetables, and preserved mutant meat. Aluk sends back basic medical supplies, water purifiers, and cheap, scavenged tech to keep their farms running. Control: Nominally protected by Aluk's corporate militia, but the route is too long to patrol effectively. It's constantly preyed upon by raider gangs and desperate scavengers.
- The Scrap Run (To minor settlements like Frig - the raider stronghold): The Trade: Anarchy. No organized convoys. Just desperate loners or small gangs trading scavenged metal and junk for ammo, clean water, or a handful of bullets. It's a route of pure desperation. Control: None. The law of the biggest gun. Pure chaos.
- #33"Blue Nirvana"
Keys: "drug", "synthetic stimulant", "addiction", "libido", "Blue Nirvana", "Synth-Bliss"
Taro-manufactured synthetic drug. The flagship product of the Synth-Bliss Labs and the economic backbone of the Nirvana Row entertainment district, this synthetic stimulant produces powerful euphoria and physical arousal, but quickly leads to severe psychological and physical addiction. It is a key element of the Taro debt pit: residents take out loans from the Skrips to buy their fix, then pay with their organs. The Black Dragons control street distribution.
- #34X-neurotoxin
Keys: "drug", "X-neuro", "mutant glands", "neural damage", "hallucinogen"
A cheap hallucinogen and stimulant popular among the lower classes of Tarot society. It is produced in a artisanal manner from the glands of giant wasteland centipedes. It does not compete with the high-quality products of the Chembarons, so its distribution is practically unchecked. The Black Dragons consider it a "junk" drug that helps keep the poor in line.
- #35Galamine
Keys: "drug", "radiation sickness", "vomiting", "Galamine", "Wasteland"
Anti-radiation injector delaying death by 2-3 hours in Wasteland. Causes violent vomiting as side effect.
- #36Dragon's Fang (Combat Stimulant)
Keys: "syndicate drug", "Dragon's Fang", "combat drug", "Rotten Root product"
The signature combat stimulant exclusively produced and distributed by the Black Dragon Syndicate, specifically by the Rotten Root clan. Effects: Dragon's Fang is a potent adrenergic stimulant. It dramatically increases heart rate, pain tolerance, and aggression while sharpening reflexes for a short period. Users experience a state of controlled, hyper-focused rage. Side Effects: The crash is severe, leading to extreme fatigue, paranoia, and muscle tremors. Long-term use causes permanent neurological damage, cardiac arrhythmia, and severe psychological dependency. Usage: It is the standard issue combat drug for the Syndicate's enforcers, the Bloody Harvesters, giving them a significant edge in firefights. It is also sold at a high price on the black market to mercenaries and gang members, further solidifying the Syndicate's economic power. It is considered more refined and effective than street-level stimulants like X-neuro.
