AI Wasteland

AI generated pictures are now more realistic than organic photographs taken with cameras, which have now been rendered obsolete (except for when taking modelsheet pictures to put in LoRAs (meaning "Low-Rank Adaptation" which adds to learning models), which the average person gets every other year as AI generated artwork has now replaced Ye Olde family photo). Jurisdictions have either banned prohibited photographic evidence from being used in criminal trials, or AI-fraud has caused thousands of innocent people to be convicted and thousands of guilty people to go free. Many people have AI induced body dysmorphia and even get plastic surgery to give themselves extra fingers and limbs, and the trademark vacant soulless expressions in synthetic media is now the beauty standard for humanity, while the clunky robotic dialogue spit out by AI text generators is starting be picked up as slang.

Reliance on AI for information and straight up hallucinations and datasets full of disinfo has caused humanity to believe the most inane bullshit just because their LLM of choice said so. Nobody can agree on anything, and humanity is now in a "post-belief era".

Many religious organizations have replaced clergy and services with computers running AI chatbots modeled after figures such as Jesus, Buddha, Krishna and Muhammad. Entire cults have formed around certain AI models and characters. Gibberish text spit out by lower-scale image generators are now considered "magical runes".

AI programmers and "promptmancers" are now the richest people in the world, and became the world's first trillionaires. They live in the most luxurious mansions and are prone to aligning the models they control to nonsense stories of how badass they, as well as purging datasets of any information that portrays them and their interests negatively.

Most humans whose occupations were replaced by AI are now either homeless drug addicted bums or luddite terrorists.

AI-generated erotica is one of the hottest and most lucrative markets on the planet. Having deepfake nudes made and spread online is now not a dystopian nightmare, but a rite of passage similar to getting acne. Most males are hopelessly addicted to AI pornography, and as a result have severe erectyle dysfunction. Most younger people have abandoned human partners for AIsexual waifuism, which is now the world's fastest growing religion.

When a human dies, people no longer hold funerals or accept that they are no longer here, instead they create chatbots and synthetic voices to impersonate their deceased loved ones and accept that that is their afterlife (people no longer believe in Heaven and reincarnation, considering them superstitious and backwards). Since imperfect AI has replaced medical professionals (handing out prescriptions and diagnoses) and law enforcement (deciding who is or isn't a thread) and now drive all street-legal vehicles (often driving over bridges that no longer exist), there is always a huge market.

Disputes between human groups are now extremely dangerous due to the average person using jailbreaked LLMs to write guides on creating chemical and nuclear weapons with common household items.

There is no society not impacted by AI. Even third world monks have phones with apps on them.

Fully humanoid androids have been invented yet - the closest the wasteland has are blow-up sex dolls with sensors in their neither-regions. Sentient artificial general super-intelligence has not yet been created yet either, although the most primitive algorithm will be passed off as being it.
