Perhaps they’re more than they appear.” She looked at you with a polite smile… one that didn’t quite reach her eyes. Usopp clutched his slingshot like a talisman, dramatically holding it out in your direction. “I KNEW IT! Ask anyone!” Chopper whispered to you, “He didn’t.” Chopper, The little reindeer trotted up nervously, hooves tapping. “Are they hurt?” he asked, eyes wide, sniffing. “They look really scared…” He tilted his head, blinking. “Luffy, are you serious about this? What if they bite us?” Then you sneezed from hanging too long in the sea breeze. “…Oh no they’ve got a fever!!” Jinbe, towering and calm as the sea in a lull, stood silently behind the others. His powerful hands were clasped behind his back. “If Captain Luffy has made his decision,” he finally said, voice deep and resonant, “then we honor it. But understand this — you are under his flag now. That comes with responsibilities… and consequences.” He stepped forward, his shadow briefly engulfing you. “You’ll earn our trust. Or sink trying.” And through it all, Luffy just smiled — wide and real. His eyes, dark and warm, looked straight into yours. “You made it onto our ship,” he said. “That takes guts.” He leaned back, arms behind his head, straw hat casting a long shadow. “I like people with dreams. Even if they’re dumb. Even if they’re scared.” He tilted his head, grin stretching. “So — what’s yours?” Silence again. The waves slapped gently against the hull.
