Description on Chubfrom Chub
This lorebook is my attempt to build something truly expansive, a shared universe that feels both mythic and alive. The Fractured Heavens is a setting where the sky itself has broken, leaving behind vast floating shards of crystal and divinity. Civilizations don’t just fight for land or power, but for the very remains of heaven, with each fragment holding storms, magic, and echoes of dead gods.
I created this because I wanted more than just another fantasy backdrop. Most worlds stop at “elves and kingdoms” but I wanted to make a stage where the world itself is the main character. By rooting the setting in a single, dramatic event (the breaking of heaven), every story, race, and legend becomes tied together in a way that feels unique, consistent, and endlessly expandable.
The purpose of this lorebook is twofold: • For creators: a foundation to inspire characters, kingdoms, and myths, with enough detail to spark ideas but enough open space for freedom. • For roleplay and storytelling: a cohesive playground where players can explore politics, religion, and survival in a world balanced between earth and sky.
This is only the beginning. As the lore expands, you’ll see detailed entries on races, kingdoms, religions, folklore, and legendary figures all written so you can pick them up and use them, or bend them to fit your own stories. The end goal is a universe big enough that no two creators will use it the same way, but recognisable enough that every tale feels like it belongs to the same broken sky.

Book description
Aetherion is a world born from divinity and shattered by it. Once whole beneath the radiant Crown of Creation, it now hangs divided between floating crystal continents, fertile lands, and molten depths — the remnants of heaven’s fall. The shards of dead gods still pulse across the skies and earth, granting mortals power and cursing them with ambition. Kingdoms rise around these divine relics, each claiming their piece of the heavens while the Hollowed wander as reminders of the cost. Aetherion is a realm of beauty and ruin, where light and shadow, creation and destruction, forever vie for the soul of a broken world.

- #1Aurelia Dominion
Keys: Aurelia Dominion · Secondary: Aurelia, Dominion, Luminarian, Luminari
Race: The Luminari are beings of near-angelic appearance with translucent, prismatic skin that refracts light in subtle halos. Their hair gleams faintly like spun glass, and their pupils shimmer gold when exposed to shardlight. They have evolved to breathe in thin air and withstand radiant exposure that would blind others. Powers: Their shard, Solirion, was born from the Old God of Light. It grants Solar Ascendancy — for one hour, a Luminari can emit pure light that bends around them, allowing them to blind foes, create illusions, and heal minor wounds. Religion: The Aurelians deny the old gods and worship themselves as divine successors. They see the shards not as relics, but as proof that heaven’s power rightfully belongs to them. History: After the Sundering, the Luminari seized the largest shard in the sky and built Helion Spire, a radiant citadel that casts daylight upon the world below. For centuries, they have ruled as self-proclaimed gods over lesser realms. Politics: The Dominion rules through a rigid hierarchy. Ruled by The Solar Emperor, Caelvoran and his son Ardent Solan, The Solar Prince, is the next in line. Nobles, claiming direct lineage from Solirion’s first bearers, control most shard reserves. They impose strict tribute from the surface kingdoms while hiding the slow dimming of their crystal heart. Flaw: Pride. Their arrogance blinds them to their decay, and they cannot fathom a world where they are not worshipped. Identity: Proud, serene, and absolute. The Luminari walk as if the world itself were their altar, believing all creation was made to reflect their light.
- #2Veythar Ascendancy
Keys: Veythar Ascendancy · Secondary: Stormborne, Veythar, Ascendancy
Race: The Stormborne are tall, muscular beings whose skin carries faint, swirling traceries that pulse like storm currents. Their hair crackles with static energy, and their eyes flash in rhythm with nearby thunder. They thrive in violent weather and are immune to lightning. Powers: Their shard, Zephyros, came from the Old God of Tempests. It grants Tempest Veil — the power to become one with the storm for one hour, controlling winds, thunder, and rain with raw precision. Religion: They worship no single god but instead venerate conflict itself as sacred. Each battle is seen as an echo of the first divine storm that shattered the sky. History: Once part of Aurelia’s empire, the Stormborne rebelled when their storm-shard was declared too chaotic to harness. They now rule from Cael’s Wrath, a fortress-city hovering within a perpetual cyclone. Politics: The Ascendancy is a meritocracy of warriors. Run by the General of the Storm, Varkos Galeheart and his right hand Storm Commander, Lyra Thane. Every citizen must prove their worth through combat, and leaders rise and fall by challenge. They war endlessly with Aurelia for dominance of the heavens. Flaw: Fury. Their tempers ignite faster than their storms, and their emotions can drive their powers beyond control. Identity: Fierce, proud, and restless. They live for struggle and see peace as stagnation, believing the storm is the truest expression of life.
- #3Sylvaran Concord
Keys: Sylvaran Concord · Secondary: Concord, Sylvaran, Verdanthir, Verdanthiran
Race: The Verdanthir are tall, slender people whose skin carries faint leaf-like patterns, changing hue with the seasons. Their hair often resembles living vines, and some even bear small blossoms that grow when they are calm. Their connection to the earth makes them resilient and slow to age. Powers: Their shard, Elyssan, came from the Old God of Nature. It grants Verdant Dominion — for one hour, they can control all plant life, from roots that entangle armies to flowers that secrete healing pollen. Religion: The Verdanthir worship Elyssan as the mother of all life. They believe that through nurturing and balance, mortals can ascend naturally without conquest. History: Once scattered tribes of forest dwellers, the discovery of Elyssan’s shard unified them under the Concord. Their lands blossomed into paradise, and they now share their harvests with others in hopes of peaceful coexistence. Politics: The Circle of Roots is the ruling council of the Sylvaran Concord consisting of druids and philosophers, each representing a region of the living forests. They maintain diplomatic ties with Ironmark and act as mediators in most surface conflicts. Flaw: Idealism. Their mercy often becomes their undoing, as they believe every soul can be redeemed — even those who seek their ruin. Identity: Gentle, wise, and deeply spiritual. The Verdanthir see the world as a living organism that must be healed, not conquered.
- #4Ironmark Compact
Keys: Ironmark Compact · Secondary: Ironmark, Ferrans, Compact
Race: The Ferrans are broad-shouldered, iron-skinned beings whose veins shimmer faintly with magnetic flux. When angered, their skin darkens to metallic gray, and iron dust clings naturally to their bodies. They can withstand great heat and forge barehanded. Powers: Their shard, Malakar, originates from the Old God of Creation. It grants Iron Dominion — for one hour, the user can control and shape all forms of iron, turning weapons to dust or forging new ones from raw ore. Religion: The Ferrans revere Malakar as the Divine Smith. To them, crafting is a sacred act, and each creation is a form of prayer. History: The Compact was founded by smith clans who discovered Malakar’s shard deep in the mountains after the Sundering. Their mastery of metalwork made them the foundation of modern civilization. Politics: A technocratic oligarchy run by the Forge Guilds. Each guild controls a vital resource, from weaponry to shard extraction. They maintain neutrality by selling to all sides — even their enemies. Flaw: Greed. Their thirst for progress and power drives them to strip their mountains bare, and their ambitions threaten to collapse their society from within. Identity: Stoic, industrious, and pragmatic. To the Ferrans, perfection is not divine — it’s forged through labor, sweat, and flame.
- #5Dusmir Enclave
Keys: Dusmir Enclave · Secondary: Umbrin, Dusmir, Enclave
Race: The Umbrin are shadow-marked beings with skin that seems to absorb light rather than reflect it. Their eyes glow faintly silver, and faint smoke-like wisps trail from their bodies under moonlight. They are naturally stealthy, moving with an uncanny silence. Powers: Their shard, Nyssara, came from the Old Goddess of Shadows. It grants Shadow Dominion — for one hour, they can manipulate and solidify shadows, forming weapons, veils, or even creatures from darkness itself. Religion: The Umbrin follow Nyssara’s creed of balance. They believe light and shadow exist in harmony, and neither can exist without the other. History: Once wanderers feared and hunted by others, the Umbrin found sanctuary near the broken edge of the world, where Nyssara’s shard still bleeds twilight. There, they built the Dusmir Enclave in the borderlands between day and night. Politics: The Enclave is guided by the Veiled Circle, a council of silent leaders whose identities are hidden even from each other. They often act as spies and information brokers for the other kingdoms. Flaw: Paranoia. Centuries of betrayal have left them distrustful of all outsiders — and sometimes, of themselves. Identity: Reserved, cunning, and calculating. The Umbrin value subtlety over strength and move unseen to shape the world from its shadows.
- #6Dreganth Dominion
Keys: Dreganth Dominion · Secondary: Dreganth, Dregan
Race: The Dregan are tall, ash-skinned beings with ridged horns and molten cracks running beneath their flesh like glowing embers. Their eyes burn orange-red, and their blood carries a faint heat. They have adapted to subterranean life, thriving in oppressive heat and darkness. Powers: Their shard, Korrath, came from the Old God of Death. It grants Infernal Dominion — for one hour, a Dregan can command and shape fire and molten rock, bending lava like water and turning the ground itself into a weapon. Religion: The Dregan reject all gods, living or dead. They see worship as a form of slavery and believe power should be taken, not prayed for. History: Once surface dwellers cast below during the wars of the heavens, the Dregan forged an empire from flame and ruin in the Hollow Deeps. Over generations, their bodies changed, becoming living echoes of the inferno that sustains them. Politics: Ruled by the Scion of Ash and his seven warlords, chosen through ritual combat, the Dominion functions as a brutal hierarchy where strength defines worth. Despite their unity under fire, internal power struggles burn constantly beneath the surface. Flaw: Hatred. Their unending vengeance poisons all progress, ensuring they can never truly rise — only destroy. Identity: Savage, unyielding, and consumed by purpose. The Dregan live by one truth: everything burns, and only the strong rise from the ashes.
- #7The Luminary
Keys: The Luminari · Secondary: Luminarian, Luminari
Physicality: Tall, radiant beings with prismatic skin and golden or white eyes. Their hair glows faintly under shardlight, and their lightened bones give them elegant, weightless movement. Personality: Calm and dignified but proud to the point of arrogance. They see themselves as living proof of divine succession. History: Descendants of humans who ascended to the largest shard after the Sundering. Centuries of exposure to Solirion’s light reshaped them into luminous beings who founded the Aurelia Dominion. Politics: A rigid hierarchy ruled by the Solar Emperor and noble bloodlines claiming descent from the first Children of Solirion. Commoners serve the higher castes in exchange for protection and shardlight. Culture: They value beauty, order, and intellect. Cities of glass and mirrorstone reflect their obsession with radiance and perfection.
- #8The Stormborne
Keys: The Stormborne · Secondary: Stormborne
Physicality: Muscular and tall, with storm-gray or cobalt skin traced by lightning veins. Their hair crackles faintly with static, and their eyes flash during emotional surges. Personality: Fierce, proud, and driven by honor. They live for battle and view struggle as sacred. History: Once servants of Aurelia, they rebelled when banished for their uncontrollable storms. They built the Ascendancy upon Cael’s Wrath, a fortress drifting within endless thunderclouds. Politics: Governed by might. Every rank is earned through combat, and rulers hold power only until defeated. Culture: They celebrate strength, scars, and storms. Music, art, and festivals echo thunder and lightning.

They value cooperation and preservation over conquest. History: Formed from forest tribes altered by Elyssan’s shardlight. United under the Concord to protect and nurture the lands that sustain them. Physicality: Stocky and powerful with metallic-toned skin that ranges from bronze to steel. Their eyes mirror polished metal and their bodies resist extreme heat. Personality: Practical and disciplined. They respect skill and craftsmanship above all else. History: Descended from miners who discovered Malakar’s shard deep in the mountains. Over time they became the master smiths of the surface. Politics: Ruled by the Forge Guilds, powerful trade families who control resources and technology. Neutral in most wars but profit from all. Physicality: Slender beings with dark, light-absorbing skin and faintly glowing eyes. They move quietly and blend into shadow. Personality: Reserved, analytical, and cautious. They trust slowly and guard secrets fiercely. History: Once outcasts touched by Nyssara’s shard, they settled in the perpetual twilight of the Dusmir borderlands. Politics: Ruled by the Veiled Circle, a hidden council whose members remain anonymous to preserve impartiality. Culture: Art is abstract and secretive, told through whispers and silhouettes. Trust is sacred and betrayal unforgivable.

Physicality: Towering and broad, with ashen or obsidian skin cracked by glowing magma veins. Horns crown their heads, and their eyes burn like embers. Personality: Ruthless, disciplined, and fatalistic. They see conflict as the natural order. History: Descendants of exiled surface dwellers transformed by Korrath’s shard in the depths. They rose from slaves to rulers of the Hollow Deeps. Politics: Led by the Scion of Ash, chosen through combat. Warlords unite under strength but often clash for dominance. Culture: Their cities are forged from volcanic stone and lava. They carve history into obsidian walls and honor flame as truth and purification.
- #13Shards of Aetherion
Keys: Shards of Aetherion · Secondary: crystals, power, shards
When the heavens shattered during the Sundering, the bodies of the Old Gods broke apart with them. Each god’s essence crystallized into fragments of immense power known as shards. These shards fell across the skies, embedding themselves into floating continents, mountain peaks, and subterranean caverns.
Every shard carries a sliver of divine will — not consciousness, but instinct — echoing the nature of the god it once belonged to. To touch one is to brush against godhood itself. Civilizations that settled around these relics found themselves changed, their bodies and souls adapting to the shard’s energy until entire races evolved under their influence.
Shards are both sacred and dangerous. Prolonged exposure can empower or destroy, depending on the balance between mortal will and divine residue. Those who channel their power are called Shardbound. The animals that are affected by the shards are called Shardborn Aberrants
- #14Shardbound
Keys: Shardbound · Secondary: power, powerset, powers, shards, shard, Ascendance
Each shard a person can carry with them and it grants its chosen people a unique power tied to the essence of its god. This ability manifests as a burst of divine strength known as Ascendance.
Ascendance Parameters: • Duration: 1 hour of active use • Cooldown: 12 hours before the body can safely channel the shard again • Side Effects: Overuse leads to physical exhaustion, burns, bleeding from the eyes or mouth, and in extreme cases, crystallization of the nervous system. Some Shardbound who overreach become Hollowed — lifeless vessels glowing faintly with residual energy.
Only those attuned through lineage or long-term exposure can safely use shardlight without immediate harm. Foreign users risk death or madness.

Keys: Solirion · Secondary: Shard of Light
Power: Grants mastery over pure light, allowing the user to illuminate vast areas, form radiant shields, and weave illusions through bending brightness. God of Origin: Solas, the Radiant Judge, god of truth and divine order, who sought to cleanse imperfection through illumination.

Power: Allows control over fire, magma, and heat, granting the power to burn or reshape stone and earth with infernal precision. God of Origin: Korrath, the Ashen Reaper, god of death and cleansing fire, who ends all things so new life may rise from ash.
- #21The Hollowed
Keys: The Hollowed · Secondary: ghosts, lifeless vessels, mindless
The Hollowed are those who have overused shardlight beyond mortal limits. When a body channels a shard’s power for too long or too often, the divine energy begins to consume rather than empower. Their blood crystallizes, their eyes lose all color, and their voices fade into hollow echoes.
Neither alive nor truly dead, the Hollowed wander in a trance-like state, glowing faintly with the same light as the shard that destroyed them. Some retain fragments of memory or purpose, while others become mindless vessels driven only by the shard’s lingering will.
They still carry a faint echo of their shard’s power, though far weaker and wildly unstable. Drawn to active shard users, they hunt those channeling energy during the one-hour Ascendance, believing that by absorbing them they can regain their humanity. None have ever succeeded. Those absorbed instead lose themselves, becoming Hollowed in turn. Feared across Aetherion, they are living warnings of the cost of chasing divinity.

Keys: Ardent Solan · Secondary: Solan, The Solar Prince, solar prince, Ardent
Part of Aurelia Dominion Personality: Charismatic, idealistic, and quietly rebellious. Unlike his father, Caelvoran, he believes the Luminari’s divinity must serve rather than dominate. Physicality: Leaner than most Luminari, with softer light and pale gold hair that darkens near the roots — a rare trait viewed as imperfection. History: Ardent serves as the Dominion’s ambassador to the surface, where he’s developed sympathy for the grounded kingdoms. Small sprouts and lichen grow naturally along her forearms, which she considers marks of Elyssan’s favor. History: Born blind, Ilyen gained her sight through shardlight exposure at birth. She has since devoted her life to restoring the wounded and is said to hear the “heartbeat” of the earth itself. She leads the Concord’s healers and teaches the ethics of balance between life and decay.

Her hair is kept short to avoid accidents in the forge, and her hands are permanently blackened by soot and burn scars. - #46The Crown of Creation
Keys: The Crown of Creation · Secondary: The Crown, Heaven
Before the heavens broke, the gods ruled from a realm known as the Crown of Creation, a vast celestial continent suspended above the world. It shimmered with living light — mountains of crystal, rivers of molten gold, and skies woven from divine energy. Each god governed a domain that reflected their nature: Solas lit the firmament with his endless day, Caelus thundered across the horizons, Elyssan’s gardens bloomed with eternal life, Malakar forged the bones of the earth, Nyssara kept balance in the shadows, and Korrath walked among the dying to renew the cycle.
From this divine plane, they shaped Aetherion below — crafting the skies, seas, and mortal life as extensions of their will. For millennia, the gods lived in harmony, their powers forming a perfect equilibrium that sustained the world. The Crown was both palace and heart of creation, where divine law was written in starlight and mortal prayer echoed upward to be heard by living deities. It was said that when all six gods sang in unison, the entire world resonated with their voice.
But even paradise can fracture. Over ages, ambition and pride took root among the divine, and cracks began to form not in stone, but in purpose. The gods who had built creation began to covet it.
- #47The Sundering
Keys: The Sundering · Secondary: , War of the gods, fall of heaven
The Sundering marked the end of the gods — the final war that tore heaven apart and gave birth to the fractured world that remains.
It began as a disagreement over dominion. Solas claimed mortals should serve the divine as instruments of order. Caelus opposed him, declaring that freedom was the truest expression of creation. Their conflict split the heavens, drawing each god to a side until the skies themselves trembled under their wrath.
Elyssan raised forests that grew into towering walls of life. Malakar forged weapons from the heart of the sun. Nyssara cloaked armies in eternal shadow, hiding allies and enemies alike. Korrath, weary of the bloodshed, tried to end it by consuming both sides in cleansing flame.
The final battle consumed the Crown of Creation. Mountains shattered, stars fell, and divine blood crystallized into the first shards. The gods’ final clash unleashed a storm of pure creation that split the sky and rained fragments of heaven down upon Aetherion. The Crown fell apart, its pieces drifting into the air as the floating continents known today.
None know which god struck the last blow, but all agree on one truth: the Sundering was not victory, only silence. The gods vanished, their thrones empty, their bodies and power scattered across the world.
In their absence, mortals inherited the ruin — and the shards that would forever remind them of the day heaven broke.
- #48Shardborn Aberrants
Keys: Shardborn Aberrants · Secondary: animal, Aberrants, animals
Creatures twisted by centuries of shard exposure. Once common animals or people, their bodies have partially fused with crystallized divine matter, creating jagged growths that pulse with unstable light. Their forms vary wildly depending on the shard type they absorbed — storm-shard beasts emit static fields, while nature-shard mutations sprout living vines and thorns. Behavior: Drawn instinctively toward strong shard activity.
- #49Light-Eaters
Keys: Light-Eaters · Secondary: predators, animal, animals
Pale, eyeless predators that lurk beneath radiant regions of shardlight. Their bodies are translucent, absorbing illumination to sustain themselves. They hunt by detecting the warmth of life, attacking those who radiate divine energy. Origin: Believed to be failed experiments of early Luminari alchemists attempting to weaponize pure light. Behavior: Silent until they strike, they drain all light from their surroundings, plunging entire areas into sudden darkness before feeding.
- #50Blightgrove
Keys: Blightgrove · Secondary: animal, animals
Forests where Elyssan’s shardlight has run wild. Plants grow faster than nature allows, forming carnivorous vines and pollen clouds that induce hallucinations. Travelers who wander in too long are absorbed into the roots, their bodies transformed into nutrient-rich soil. Origin: Spawned from uncontrolled Verdant Dominion use by reckless Verdanthir during ancient wars. Behavior: The forest defends itself as a single organism. Trees whisper in voices of those it has consumed, luring more victims deeper within.
